  1. that is a nice dumper. My old 4AC AE86 needed a muffler for roadworthy, I asked the guy to get something with a little bit more of a not to it and it was a nice clean, low understated engine note that wasn't the least bit intrusive. Stock system apart from that.
  2. Bit of both really - I know 5K's are difficult to do, I was just wondering what the various valve changes people have made to various different generation K motors?
  3. I do actually have a second 5k head, but I was planning on getting that worked etc. Plus it goes with the complete second motor I've got here. I don't think you'll have too much trouble finding others out there anyway.
  4. When mines going we should go one (dare I say it) cruise. None of that later model pus though, just 10s and 20s.
  5. Mick I'll see how I go, I fly to Roxby tomorrow, I might be able to get the GF down there to sort it out. I'll give you a buzz tomorrow. I'll see how the exhaust sounds with that muffler, it's replacing the old 1.5 inch resonator, so it should sound a bit better. The whole system is 1 3/4 through, I might just turf out the rear muffler and get a new one if I don't like the note, while they're there they can weld up the one I scored off you! So yeah, probably will be a permanent item.
  6. Scotty, that muffler I pinched off you turned out to be a complete winner! I lopped off the ends and slitted them, and it fitted perfectly where the old peashooter resonator was. Now the exhaust is 1 3/4 all the way through and in fairly good condition. See pic. There is a muffler between the tank and left rear leaf, but it's too big and knocks on the spring mount. I will probably rip that out and put another smaller muffler in, depending on how loud it is. Basically all that is left to do is fit up the KE20 rad, cut the floorpan (which I'm not keen to do haha) and its test pilot time. The 40+ heat in the shed was fairly demotivating over the last 4 days though....
  7. One step forward, 2 steps back. I scored a thermofan and was about to start mounting it and the slightest touch on the radiator and it busted a leak! I have a KE20 radiator, I've worked out how to fit it, so I'll be back to visit you Raven and change that 10 inch for a 12 inch. Mounting the KE20 radiator is quite easy - I'll use 2 lengths of aluminium Square hollow section to space it back and up slightly. Can only get away with it if you run a thermo, otherwise a crank driven fan will be too close. Will put up a How To when I'm done.
  8. I'm assuming its on a K series engine? The end of the clutch cable sheath is supposed to poke through a hole on the block. If you used an Automatic sandwich plate, there wont be a hole for it in the plate, so you need to drill it and get out the old round file. The spring tension on the clutch lever keeps it in place. If it's not a K engine, then I can't help.
  9. Without knowing for certain, I would say almost certainly no, by the time you've planed that much out you will have very little head left. You'd probably have to run different head bolts and all sorts of difficult shit. If you run new ACL pistons with the smaller dish, and plane the block a bit as well, you might get somewhere close. Why are you so hung up on the possibilty that you wont be able to get a head?
  10. If you have space I'd go with an underdash unit. Plenty of wreckers have the front end gear, like the compressor, condensor and the hose gear, brackets etc. If you hunt around you should be able to find a cool looking retro underdash unit with chrome knobs etc.
  11. Sweet mother of god. Tough as. I'm a big fan of the CA18 turbo, I used to have a poobird with one. That thing would absolutely hook.
  12. Nice name change by the way. Green interioris good, I'd put a bit of black on the seats too.
  13. That 16 is a lost cause, don't worry I've already been over it looking for bits to pinch haha. I'll be dropping round regularly scotty to keep the motivation bug biting haha! Either that or I'll take possesion of your half built project in 2 years time heh heh.
  14. What a beast. You guys really should practice TAKING PHOTOS OF NUTS CARS>!!@#!@ Surely someone has some better shots of it?

    Read Me.

A well and truly justified warning as well. There's been some real shit talk popping up on the forum lately.
  16. Always does man, always does. My first prang was up into a jag boot when I was 16. One little ding in his car and mine was knackered.
  17. Keep me posted if you do sell, I'll drop past if you have it at work some time. Tom.
  18. You'll have to go with the CA box mate, it will be much harder to fit a foreign box to the CA than it would be fitting the CA box in the trans tunnel.
  19. I just built a 5k with hydraulics. just quickly running it, pulled to 5k very quickly and smoothly. First crank and the valve train was nice and silent....
  20. Possibly a bit better. Has anyone dealt much with bigger valves in a K head, I asked my builder about the 5K and he said there wasn't enough room in there.
  21. ah, death noises. I'm running a holley red FPR on mine and it works fine, mounting is proving to be a bitch.
  22. Most panel beating shops will have the gear to do it.
  23. yeh tell me about it, but I got my ticket ages ago... oh well might as well go and sweat it out anyway. I wouldn't joke about people dying though....
  24. Magic.
  25. I was pretty blown away when I got off the plane from Roxby back here in adelaide and it was HOTTER! Damn.
