  1. Peter, it's because of people like you and Fook, that I've had to go out and buy a faster car. Bring it on!!
  2. Is this better?
  3. One more
  4. More pics!
  5. I had these set up by Iain Stewart of Carbtech in Redcliffe.
  6. I could always be wrong......! :P Two Inches is 50mm. It shouldn't have shufled it too far, unless there was something else nasty going on. I had Teddy standiing on the towbar while taking measurements and there was no noticable difference. Chrizer, I wasn't picking on you, I just thought I might stimulate a bit of conversation, and get my brain working whilst waiting for a baby to turn up! :) Cheers Rob
  7. He gonna grow into them paws...!! :P
  8. I just can't see the point in an adjustable one, at least for a Ke70. Other cars could be different. Has anybody seen my tape measure? :P
  9. Alrighty then! Having far to much time on my hands, I went around to Teddy's place with a tape measure. On his KE70, The Panhard rod is 40mm away from being horizontal on a flat level surface. The Panhard rod is 800mm from centre to centre on the mounting bolts. Using good 'ol Pythagora's theory, 40 mm away from horizontal will mean a working length of 798.9mm for the Panhard rod. Lowering the car 50mm will displace the axle housing approximately 1mm. If you were to lower Teddy's car 150mm, it would be 40mm til the bar is horizontal, 40mm again until the bar is in the mirror position (inverted) leaving another 70 to go. If you did lower it another 70 the diff would displace approximately another 2.1mm in the other direction. I could also be very wrong! :P As I can see it, the most a KE70 diff will displace if you lower the car is 1.1mm to the left, or 2.1mm to the right. Boredom is a terrible thing. R
  10. Next question, I assume that you would need a four wheel wheel-alignment after fitment of the adjustable panhard rod, to ensure that it's tracking correctly? My query was more to do with "are they worth it?" or would the money be better placed elsewhere: better shocks, nolathane bushes etc. If you're going the whole hog no expense spared option, of course, do it, but would you consider it something to be done early on, at the expense of, say one of the items above. Is the diff "Push" on a 50 mm drop that excessive that it needs correcting? (What is the most you can legally lower a 70 series?) Comments? If we're all feeling bored one day, I'll measure up Teddy's car and work it out... :P
  11. I have my flare tool back, too. Give me a yell and you can pick it up anytime.. R
  12. I love Keiths work....... the man is a craftsman....
  13. ...... and snapping axles! :P
  14. As far as I know, you can't mix and match like that, I believe that you require the right pinion for the right ring gear. I know that this is (apperently) the case with Corolla ones.... :P
  15. Most people usually weld them like this, though. This is my old 4.3:1 which lasted six or seven years before finally letting go the pinion teeth....
  16. PM me when time comes, and I'll give you the name of the guy who does (and tecnically doesn't) do mine. I will guarantee that he welds will never break. Behold:
  17. Locked diffs aren't super axle friendly. Yes Doug, they break at the spline end, so diff out to extract the end. Funnily enough, they're usually not too hard to get out of the diff. I find I have most difficulty with them at/ after Bitumen motorkhanas.
  18. I know about that one, am actively searching for a smaller bore master cylinder.....
  19. Funny that, I've only crapped one gearbox, half a dozen axles and three diffs in twelve years of racing. Must not be trying hard enough.....
  20. I've had a lot of problems with Bosch plugs breaking down, even when new(ish). Problem usually occurs at the 3500- 4000 rpm range under load. NGK are the way to go.Never had a dud. My theory, Jap car, Jap plugs! :P
  21. They can occasionally play funny buggers....
  22. Find somewhere really really dark, open the bonnet, start the car, see if there's sparks going down the leads. (Honestly). Glowing lead: time to replace. 7mm leads sound a little thin, but I'm assuming its stockish? Otherwise as Felix said, coil? Can you narrow it down to fuel or spark? Rev range? Spark plug brand? I've never had success with Bosch plugs in a Corolla. Dunno why. Where are you, if you're nthside I'll take a look for you..... Cheers R
  23. Woooo, Gallangowan weekend..... I'm out....:P
  24. Alright. I'm technically inept. Could you please tell me in words of one syllible or less what a "blog" is. My education needs furthering! :P
  25. Tell me about it. Bub is already three days late. I hope this doesn't carry on through the rest of his/her life!! We'll see about the next one, I'd probably bring Dwarf out though....
