  1. Twin webers are good, but the words "fuel economy" should never be used in the same sentence. Felix is right, I had HS4 SU's on the Dwarf and found them to be really good user friendly carbs. Good usable power from down low, with reasonable fuel economy. A good dyno I would consider essencial to make sure that needle selection is correct (mine were leaning out quite badly). Economy wise I never quite worked it out, but I got the whole of Rally of Queensland which was about 400km of transport, 140 km of reccie and 100km of balls out competitive out of under 100 litres. I know with the twin 40's, I work on 8kms per litre on transport/ reccie and 3kms per litre competition maximum. This is fitted to a fairly grumpy 3K. The webers will give you better torque and slightly more hp, but it comes at a price. If it was a daily driver, I'd go with the SU's. For what it's worth! Cheers R
  2. Unfortunately entries for this one closed last week... :jason: Probably wouldn't have been a good one to start with, as it is the most expensive motorkhana to be run in Qld for many years. The only reason Datgirl and myself have entered is because one of our sponsers have paid for it.....
  3. The qld challenge photo is one of Marc Zande's. The pic in question was one from the day up at Pat Kennedy's, and Fook has already claimed it....... I knew it came from one of you guys.... P.S: Nice shots from BWCP. I wish my car sat that low all the time.... :jason:
  4. I'm now confused! Nitephyre, which one photo has made the cut?
  5. 21th is fine by me.....
  6. Ahhh..... Goodo! :jason:
  7. I may have mis-credited that one, it maybe a Wyldephyre photo that one...... can either of you confirm??
  8. You wouldn't have to respray it, it'd just be covered in stamps for the postage. Either that or could you imagine the size of the envelope??
  9. I am what they refer to as a minority, being one person..... go with the majority Teddy, it's much easier that way!
  10. HEY???? Easy does it fellas! Get in when you can, as much as I 'd like to think it can't, :blinks: life can go on without me!
  11. You mean this one?? :jason: Oh that day was so much fun!! dixon2.jpe
  12. Bugger me. Last time someone posted something like this, I bought the bloody thing. Then I had to get it up from Tassie. I wonder.......
  13. No good for me.... rally time....
  14. Irokin is right. No mods are required on a 4K-C for them to run unleaded (except maybe a tweek to the timing..). Unless it's a grunter engine, save your pennies and use unleaded.
  15. It's only $4200 to get basic Proflex fitted to Hal!!

    Kcf3

That was Redwarf. Blue is under construction. Gearbox is working like an old Holden, three forward gears and one reverse. Will pull it out shortly and take happy snaps.... Irokin: You think YOU were nervous when there were no brakes..... :jason:

    Kcf3

Well, KCF3 was run and won yesterday in the sunny hills around Jimna. I haven't had this much fun in years. The morning started with reconaisance to pace note the two stages. We would later cover thse two stages a total of three times for a total of six stages. The first stage was a 8 km long affair, starting with tight winding roads, with a quick mid section, going back to tight winding roads, with a serious uphill pull to the end. Stage two was 11 km long, starting out quick, descending into tight twisting roads, opening back up again near the "Ponderosa" (some stockyards) with about 4kms of very fast uphill roads from the Ponderosa to the finish. Being the only car in class meant that we didn't have a lot of pressure on us. So we deciced to go out and take it easy. This approach lasted about 300m into the first stage. We were then on it. Very pleased with the stage times for 1 & 2 after which we pulled back into service for the first time. Quick check under the bonnet to make sure the engine was still there and back out again. Stage 3, we managed to take 4 seconds off our first pass through, which was interesting as we were having a ball and showing off mercilessly. Stage 4 started great, until we were about 2kms short of Ponderosa, where there was a large cautioned hump. We approached in third gear, went over the hump in I think second, and the next time I tried third, bad crunchy noises came from gearbox, with very limited drive. 500m down the road, all the teeth on third had parted company, and things were a bit quieter. This now left us with second and fourth as our main gears. One makes do with what one has, so we did the remaining 6 kms using two gears. Stage 4 time was 3 seconds slower than our first pass. Back at service we decide to keep going pretty much because we could. Oil is still contained in gearbox, although I suspect the colour and consistancy is a bit ordinary by now. Stage 5. Well, Debbie and I were still having a hoot, and she's telling me off for having too much fun. The beginning of the stage is mainly second gear stuff so it's all good. Middle section was intersting with second to fourth changes. Our time was only six seconds slower than our quickest pass previously,so we're pretty chuffed with ourselves. Stage 6, lined up, left the start line, got to the first corner and got that sinking feeling with the brake peddle. By 4km in, we were running with no brakes at all. No handbrake either (hydraulic). Rear left brake wheel cylinder had decided to let go. At this time we decided to back off somewhat. The tight stuff was difficult as it was all short bursts, with tight corners on the ends. Alot of Hmmmm-ing coming from driver as he experiments with various ways of throwing the car at corners. Up past Ponderosa in the fast flowing section, we were motoring along in 4th gear at a fair pace, when Debbie called a tighter corner than we'd been going through, change to third, mmmm nothing there, brakes....... that's right, they're absent, too. Jam gearshift into second. Watch tacho do laps in clockwise direction, and then anticlockwise as the revs drop again. We dropped just over a minute over 11 kms. Great event on some of the best roads the area has to offer. All credit to the organizers for a slick, well run event. I'm sure Datgirl will put up her event report soon, she and Batgurl had a solid finish, although I did hear one story about them "Riding the Wall of Death" early on! Thanks as always to my sponsers Pedders Geebung, Frawleys Engine Reconditioning, and Wayno from W & T Motorsport for emergency welding repairs during the week. Cheers R
