You have a number of choices. If you're going to put out moderate horsepower, do as Fook and the guy on Toymods suggested, and find a K50 box from a KE70. Easy. If you're producing good/big horsepower, look for a T50 box (Celica) with a K bellhousing. Lite-ace perhaps?? I knew a place in Victoria that was importing them a few years ago, but haven't seen any since. With good/biggish horsepower you WILL have to change the diff as well. There's a couple of threads in here discussing putting TE71 (T18) diffs in KE70's. I personally don't think K50 boxes are as strong as the 4 speed version. Good Luck. R

That dash pad would be worth it's weight in gold. Same with the back seat.....Nice unit. Don't even think about desicrating it by re-engining it. I know people who would pay good money for a unit like that. :insane: I wouldn't do anything substancial until you come off your "P"lease pull me over Plates.

I assume he's bought Brain Semmens old car?? What bits does that thing still have in it? It had EVERYTHING in the early 90's..... and ten years is a long long time for a rally car. By the way, it won the VCRS series with the 1600cc motor, it was never as competitive with the 2 litre........still darn quick though.... By the way, the purple car in the photo's is roughly the same spec, as is my new car which I'm rebuilding at the moment, although with only a 1600. Depending on the length of the rally, 3 sets of rears sound about right for that car. I budgeted two set for te last one, and I don't nearly have that much HP. The direction I believe we are going with the 55 is Magna rotors and VT 4 spots. Rear are probably going to be Pintara. I understand it to be a reasonably easy conversion. I'll tell you in about a month.
