  1. Yes it is. No it's not easy. The 4K crank will fit and spin in a 3K, but the problem lies when you put rods on it. They hit the sides of the bores. You need to get the sides machined/ scalloped out for it to fit. You then need to find suitable pistons as the stroke of the crank will have increased, but not the stroke of the block, IYKWIM. I used Charade pistons with a custom pin arrangement. We had to buy six all up because they sell them in sets of three. We ended up with about 1360cc. Slight panel beating on the sump is also in order for clearance as well. The ONLY reason why I did this was for competition purposes. I don't recommend it for any other reason.
  2. I think I have the man flu. The possibility of me dying is high.
  3. Someone turned up to the ATM of talent and were told they had insufficient funds.
  4. Flashback here. Trev, you really should be careful what you wish for. :)
  5. I may have one, and I don't klnow which is which, I just know I had the same problem once before.
  6. The actual throw out bearings are all the same size. There are different length carriers. You want a long one.
  7. I got mine through importmonster.com.au. Note: It's not bolt in. Some fabrication required. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/7663-redwarf-rebuild-v40/page__st__30
  8. Thinking of you Trev. Been in Hawthorne all afternoon prepping and sandbagging the In-Laws place. Felt like I was shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. The sandbag distribution point was just around the corner. Pull up, lift tailgate, and dozens of people bucket brigade sandbags into whatever you have. Filled the car in 2 minutes flat. Even left with an ice cold stubby on one trip. Brilliant. And people wonder why I'm proud to be an Australian.
  9. I actually listened to my Dad's advice and have a house on top of a hill. Home is fine, but work is going into overdrive. We shipped all our spare engines of to higher ground tonight. Truckie nearly fell over when I told him not to crash, as he had $22 million worth of gas turbines on board. All items of value 1 m above the ground. At least we didn't have to sandbag the place.
  10. I would consider it rooted. If they're near new take them back to Bridgestone and warranty them. Edit: read the top bit again, didn't buy them...... I'd still try it on, they often to pro rata on how much tread is left. However they might argue it's hit a gutter/ abuse.....
  11. I have a bit of a Skoda heritage. My mother had a 110L Skoda back in the day. (Google that one, boys!) I drove an Octavia hire car about 24 months ago, and thought it okay. Nothing special. Got another one about two months ago, and there seems to have been an update, and I must say I was reeeeaallly impressed by it. As was Mrs Dwarf. The boot area is cavernous. The only thing that scares me is resale. If you were going to keep it for ten years, it'd be perfect. We only get 4 year cars. Mrs Dwarf's car is about to come off lease, and I'll probably put the next one through (as I'm paying faaaaaaaar too much tax), so anything up to about $60k is fine for us. Thought Ovlov as well, but resale isn't flash for them either. I refuse to buy anything French. Anyway, back on topic. *cough*
  12. - rep for making me almost go to Boostcruising. One from left field is the new Golf wagon. I swear the inside is three times as big as the outside. Mid 30's for one of those puppies though. Mazda 6 is a really good choice. Wagons you can get in a diesel, but only come in manual (as a diesel). Early ones a little bit on the noisy side. Tip for new players: Check where the baby seat attach points are before you decide on anything. Mrs Dwarfs 96 Corolla had the seat straps coming down diagonally through the boot on her hatch, thus rendering the boot area useless. We're looking at an A3 Sportback for the next shopping jeep. :)
  13. In our house they're referred to as poo-nami's. Fortunately number 2 has outgrown that. The greatest day is when they get out of nappies.
  14. Don't go the second then. Two is exponentially more work than one. I don't know where my life has gone since number two turned up.
  15. Yes, I have. And it's more rooting around than it's worth. Engine and/or box lift out is far easier.
  16. A 2T-C you paint blue so you don't scare the fish. The only 2T worth even contemplating is the 2TG. Even the you will get more reliability and reliable horse power out of a 4A. And this is coming from someone with a 2TG.
  17. Gday Guys. Yes I still need it, and thanks to the guys I haven't PM'd back to either. It's just that time of year. Yes I still need a car. Yes I will be doing it. No it won't be this week, as Mrs Dwarf has got a skip in and we're having a late spring clean. I think it's all actually a conspiricy to stop me working on cars, but a peaceful life is a happy life. I'll get back to you all shortly, and thanks for the offers. :)
  18. They were actually made in limited numbers. They did the same with early Falcons.
  19. $300 or so will get your radiator recored with a three core. I've run race K motors and grunter 2TG's off these in Queensland. If you still have heating issues after that, you have other problems.
  20. Going to Rockhampton tomorrow. Twice. I'll see what I can do.
  21. ^^^^^ Just for that I'm going to put on my spray jacket and go for a pedal. :P
  22. I get hammered an extra $200 on the Touareg as it's a 6 cylinder. Then I get penetrated with the trailers at $160 a piece for each of them. It just goes on and on.....
  23. what are your clearances like? I know on the 25 I used the shorter one I had, just so that I could fit some half decent air filters. I understand the 15's have even less spacethan the 25.
  24. Yes, yes there does. There needs to be more respect on both sides of the fence.
  25. Refer previous comment. :P
