  1. Ermm.... yeeeeersssss. The gearboxes are somewhat weak. This one has an STi RA box in it, that's alledgedly fairly fresh. I have another three boxes in pieces, and two more boxes complete, one just had a full rebuild. I think someones trying to tell me something. That said, if I put a 6 speed in from a later version, they're apparently better than god, but then I'd have to change the rear diff, as they only have 3.9's in the 6 speeds. Then again I also have a 3.9 R180 LSD in the spares pile too. First port of call is to drive it and get used to it. If I start smashing boxes I'll go the 6 speed route. I think I should be fine-ish, I'm reasonably kind on equipment. One thing I've been told is that to be quick in these things, you need to throw them around a lot. Handbrake is useless due the 20 Kg centre diff. (Standard is 3-6?) I'm sure there will be some interesting action pics regardless. :D
  2. I have a car that's eligible, but I don't really see the point. It'll just end up being the one with the most cubic dollars wins, like it always does. But then again, I don't see the point of a lot of things these days.
  3. I'll probably take it to the Autocross track out there. Mainly to learn how to drive it, and get the hang of the thing. Have to find some road wheels first though. It's got all the right bits, they just need to be put together in the right order.

  5. About a month back I took delivery of a 94 WRX rally car. Only a few careful owners before me, and only 36000 on the clock. Only driven on weekends apparently. From what I know, the car was Aust delivered and immediately turned in a GTP car. Campaigned reasonably sucessfully for several years in GTP, including a couple of class wins at the Bathurst 24 hour. Went from hand to hand for a while after that, and then about three years ago was converted to a forest car. The new , erm, I shall call it caretaker of the car, did two rallys in it. One it ended up in a lake, and the other rally it ended up on it's roof. Car was professionally fixed and delivered back to it's owner, where it has sat for the last two years. The car runs 4.4 STi mech LSD's, 20 kg centre diff, Motec with antilag and launch capability, and 50mm MCA suspension. It does however need some tender loving care. It also now fits in the garage after some serious rationalisation of the storage areas. :)
  6. A stock standard 3K valve bounces at 6.5 to 7K. Keep it under six-ish.

  8. Do you want an honest answer, or would you like us to lie? :( It would possibly be cheaper and easier to get a second hand engine in that case.

  12. You can get leaves to do whatever coils can. I've had two rally cars that ran leaf springs. Yes they're agricultural, but they left bigger, better and more powerful cars destitute at the side of the road. Seriously, don't waste your money.
  13. You have a wagon? If so, seriously, don't bother. There are people out there who can make leaf springs do whatever you want.

  15. .... although he does have a point. I'd go for something around the .400. There's no point in putting it in if it's not going to work properly. I had a really nice Wade that I used to use that was a 30/70 .400 lift that would have given you close to desired results and would have been effective. I had a cam that was a 25/65 .435 lift, and it needed dcoes.

  17. Apart from thefact that you're going backwards (1290cc 4K KE55 and an 1166cc 3K KE30). There shouldn't be any drama at all. However, this is the internet, and not everything people tell you is true, therefore, contacting VicRoads would be your wisest move.
  18. I've pics somewhere of my 25 at Morwell hillclimb in Gippsland. Now part of an open cut. :( Drove Oran Park just before it closed in a Mazda. God that's a tragedy. Closure, not the Mazda. I did a motorkhana at a track that's never been built, does that count?

  24. 32mm's should be right. some people go 28's, but thats a bit small if you want to make Hp. Min 2" exhaust, 1.75 is too small. It'll be a nice little package. Can't remeber what my main size is, but it's probably somewhere around there.
