can't lower it with the starlet struts and TE28 rear as the tires rub the wheelwells.

you have to pull everything off of it form inside the car then the shaft will be the only thing left. then you can pull it out from the under the front of the car. it's really tight, but it can be done. My KE18 has a TE28 rear, it's about an inch wider overall. I had been running the TE28 steering box, but I had this KE10 box that I THOUGHT was better. Now with the header, I don't think I could get the box back in. Post lots of pics of the "T" swap. I for one would like to see the progress.

I've decided not to scallop it, but I was planning to stencil "Toyota parts and service" with the old address and the original Toyota logo I got from Banjo

well; it IS gonna be flat black soon. I thought the bright mags would really go off with the dark paint. Plus; the front wheel beads are so rusty, I'm having a hard time keeping them from going flat, and they're bent slightly. mt photochop skills are nil, but here's this; photochop ................................................................................ ..................... me reworking the banged up and rusty door

No 5k were ever imported into the U.s. at least. You know, now that I look closer it does have the '70 KE17 lights, someone has put a '68-'69 KE10 or KE16 grille into it
-
I'm not sure if I want to run the mags; it looks really good with the steelies, but it looks really good with the mags. I'll let you guys make my decision.
-
Are you sure that's a KE17('70)? Looking at the front t/signals, side markers and grille, it looks more like a KE15 ('68-'69) I doubt you'll ever lose steering; there's really not much to break in there. I THINK the main problem with these early boxes is the pitman shaft bushing. I've had mine apart and I cannot find ANY wear on anything but that bushing. Good luck!

The retainer is broken on the bottom half where the snap ring goes. I'm sure I could still use it, but If I could get another one, I'd be WAYYYY happy. There was no such thing as a KE7X in america. The last KEXX corolla was in '77. Then you had the starlet from '81-'84. This is supposedly an '83-'84 4KE K60 and starlets are super rare, especially out here in hillbilly country. I work for a large auto parts chain and all the bearings I ordered were wrong. I called toyota and the only bearing availible was the front main one. No needle bearings, no shaft. I would be TOTALLY happy with good used parts, or if new ones are available, I would have to pay someone to buy them and ship them, (hint, hint) This is my bread and butter, 35mpgs 70 mi ONE WAY to work; it HAS to drive. Help me Tony; I think you're my last hope..... p.s. it's a ribbed case.

Yeah; All the other ones I've owned had either K50, K51, K52 on the bearing retainer and it was far different than this one. I NEED A COUNTERSHAFT! If anyone has a parts tranny lying around........ I'd like to have a countershaft, input shaft and bearing retainer if possible. price + shipping to the states, please.

Bit of understeer, eh? oh well, good riddance to bad rubbish  -
Nah; you need to trade me a pair of those strut tops for my electronic dizzy

I just pulled my NOISY K60 apart today to find the front main bearing VERY rough and the front countershaft bearing rough and the countershaft galled up. It's an oddball; not like the K50, K51s. The front retainer is different from all the others I've seen, and all the ones in the books. I need another countershaft, and maybe another retainer and input shaft as these are damaged slightly Shipping would be high to the states I imagine, so donations are being accepted.... Also; if anyone could tell me exactly what a K60 g'box is, please let me know.

I put '93-up corolla coilovers in my '82 and found them WAYYYYY too stiff; how does this ride? Also; what did the strut tops cost you, if you made them, how much to make me some? :D

YUP! The only true American cars anymore are Saturns (yuck!) and Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. Americans haven't been able to build a decent car since the early '70s
-

the Bosch one for the '83 starlet 4KE has the plate with the threaded o2 sens. hole. when I got my extectors, I just welded the plate onto the collector, then got a universal 1 wire o2 sensor.
