  1. And as was said earlier, be polite. Give the police attitude then they WILL find something.
  2. Trev, if you are reffering to me, I aint from Tassie and its the first one I ever posted...... Personally, if I don't like something, I don't comment.
  3. Waggot heads were for Holden Grey motors
  4. Went up and out with my ke20 and didnt have any issues with bumpsteer. The change in height of your front roll centre may make it more oversteery (or the opposite). There is a pic somewhere in this forum showing how much I moved the pivots.
  5. You can redrill the crossmember on a KE20 to move the LCA mounting points out about 25mm. don't think there is enough meat in a KE30 crossmember to do this
  6. Was Autolite Fords spareparts brand?????
  7. Yeah a stock 5k bottom end survived 8000rpm for a number of years, so I guess that would be so.
  8. Mine was a similar combination but with 3kb carbies and high compression. Used to get around 400km from a tank. So appox. 10l/100km driven sensibly. Open it up for some fun and it could chew through a quarter of a tank in no time
  9. Used to get around 10L/100km from a twin carbed 5K in a KE35 if driven quietly........ Not much worse that the standard 3K
  10. Just thought that I would post this as it is worth a look. Lloyd Smith
  11. Ran a locker in my KE20 with and without a rear bar. Rear bar didnt last very long before it was removed. A bit unnerving using the drivers window to see while in third gear during an autocross. Ended up disconnecting one arm to try to tame it a bit, which did work. Ended up with softened springs - 2 leaves instead of 4. This helped lots in my case.
  12. Why not...... If it works good on him for thinking outside of the box.
  13. Talk to Tiger on this forum. He will be able to suggest a few things as he does this for a living.
  14. I'd go the front, but leave the rear off.
  15. On KE20's there are adjustable losk stops that you can wind in to get a little more lock.
  16. Really stupid question, you do have the plug leads in the right order????? I'd be pulling the rocker cover to recheck if the valves are opening, and if they are, opening when they should be. Whip out the plugs and earth them to the block. Crank the engine to see if each plug is actually firing. Had an issue like this with aftermarket leads. Was misfiring on a couple. Put standard leads back on and all was sweet. But the red ones looked so good...... :sob:
  17. Personally, you would be better getting the front right than to worry about the rear end. Much more effective IMO to stiffen the front bar up and leave the rear alone.
  18. Dropping the rear bar tamed it down some, a new pair of rear tyres did too.
  19. If you just want to use the manifold, have a look at the way I did it. There is a link around here somewhere to some pics.
  20. Just be careful, found it turned my 20 into an oversteery bitch at speed. I'm talking full oppy lock in third on the local autocross track. Then I was running some different front end settings and a locker......
  21. I agree with RED. Get the best you can afford. You can always upgrade as you go. Started with a K Mart cheapy when I was 18 and I think I killed every tool in the kit. Upgraded to a Repco kit when I was 21 and still have that. Also have some Powerbuilt tools and they are nice to use as well for what I do, although I did break one of there drive adaptors, trying to get the wheels of the people mover after some nufty had done them up with the rattle gun.
  22. Ran a Selby rear bar for a KE35 on mine till I got sick of it. It wasn't registed to just ran allthread to mount the bar to the body with a couple of plates to take the load off the floor.
  23. Have a very close look at the front rails. Seen a few rust out on the drivers side. Generally look ok but one big bump or twist will cause them to crack along the rail. Also under the radiator.
  24. For what Toyota used to charge for a heater tap, I'm not surprised that someone has done that.
  25. Yeah, most people tend to go too stiff in my opinion. If the tyres are bouncing off the road, you aint going anywhere. Trust me, a ke20 don't turn with the fronts in the air..... Was running cut down HZ V8 springs in it at the time.
