  1. Thanks guys. If enough people like the look of my car with the chrome bars, I might leave it on. ;) I've only got around to installing the front bumper. I was lucky enough to have picked them up already modified to fit a KE70. The rear bar though, doesn't have any brackets at all. I will have to find someone who can weld and make a bracket up for me. Let me know how you go about getting it fitted! ;)
  2. Okay, the rain finally stopped coming down so I took the chance I had to get the bumpers on and to take some photos. Here they are, let me know what you think about them. I wasn't really a fan of the chrome bumpers at first, but after installing them, it doesn't look too bad. Just need to make brackets for the rear bumper and that's pretty much it. And here are some photos of the heat wrap I was talking about. Give me your honest opinions.
  3. Hey man! Haven't really given it a good 'drive' as yet. Single spins too much to have some fun. I wanted to get some pics up of everything on today, but the garage is locked! ;) I don't have the keys to it either and all the tools I need are in there. I've started uni again as well so not much spare time. ;)
  4. Wheels make the car a bit hey. Don't think I should sell them even if I do feel like it attracts too much of the wrong attention. I ended up receiving my heat wrap in the mail today. It came from New Zealand. I paid Thursday and received them today. Not bad on time I thought. It's all installed, looks a bit messy, but it'll do. One tip I've got for anyone that's going to install heat wrap in the future. - Wear gloves - Wear the shittest clothes you can find - Mask if you've got one lying around doing nothing The wrap is fibre glass and all the particles go airbourn (spelling?) really easy and gets stuck on your clothes, it prickles you and is a pain in the arse to take out. I will try to get pictures up of it installed soon. I would also like to say that I've got some T18 bumpers now... They're in pretty good condition and all, but not sure if I should install them. I'm not a huge fan of them on the Aussie style front. What do you all think? (No one seems to answer the questions I post, but at least I tried! hahaha) Will get pics of these as well, will probably install them just to see how they look. If shit, they're for sale.
  5. The cause for the hunting idle could be from water pockets in the cooling system (not blead properly), throttle position sensor, stuffed map sensor or the auxiliary air valve control thing. Those are the main causes for a hunting idle. If you've just blocked the auxiliary air valve tubes up, you'll still need to block the holes up otherwise you'll get a very high idle (mine was about 3-4krpms). Try fixing those things up and see if it stops. My hunting was from wrongly tuned TPS.
  6. Nah, wheels aren't for sale unless someone gives me a good price. :eatlead:
  7. Ended up getting my steering lock spacers today and installed it when I got home. The spacers are about 6mm each. Here are the results.. Before: After: There's a slight difference in the real world. Only did a U-turn after I installed it and it's a bit better. For $20, I can't complain. :eatlead: Edit: Save the two top view shots then flick it back and forth with that Windows picture viewer thing. You can see the amount gained.
  8. Only thing I've done after getting the motor running properly is just fish oil most of the car. There's not much rust on the car, but it doesn't hurt to spray it everywhere. :eatlead: Mods to come are URAS steering lock spacers, some heat wrap on the extractors to keep engine bay temperature down and probably lock the diff or a T18 LSD for some fun. :bash:
  9. That's it! Quite a bit of photos there. Sorry to those who have a capped internet or are still on 56k. :eatlead:
  10. Hey guys, I finally got around to taking some recent shots of my car with everything completely done. Here they are..
  11. That's good to hear mate! You'll be checking that tracking system twice a day after the first 4 weeks. :eatlead: Oh did you get more pictures of the wheels by any chance? Just so that you know how damaged the rims really are?
  12. Ah you're from south east Melbourne too! Yeah, the police are pretty bad in our area from what I've heard. I used to be very active over in the Japanese import forums and what they get done for is just stupid. I guess their job is to get those with illegal mods or who are doing something illegal, but the way they go about it is unfair. What can you do? Drive a stocko car and be off your Ps... I've been lucky and have only run into the police once. It wasn't because I was acting/driving stupid, but because someone else was. All good though, I'm not gonna cop bash them on the net, they were good to me and let me off with a warning (my car was clearly defectable).
  13. Most would use a rattle gun to take the top nut off. Don't forget to compress the springs first though, you don't want a nut flying into someones face! With my strut, I no longer had use for the shocks, I just needed the tops so I angle grinded the shock's shaft so that I can grip it with a vice grip. Once I had grip I took the nut off like any other nut. Oh I also took the shock out of the strut first. Just undo the gland nut. THEN angle grind the shaft..
  14. I want to do it right just for the kilometer's recorded. It's telling others it's driven more than it really has. Oh well..
  15. When I was doing research for my 4K to 4A conversion (for my 5sp KE70 with standard borg warner), I think I read somewhere that the standard tail shaft can be used if I were to use a 20 spline gearbox. Seeing that the T18 box also has 20 spline and he wants to use a borg warner, this will be possible? Could the length of it be a problem as well?
  16. Out quite a bit hey? I've just got the standard diff with ADM T50 and 185/55/15 tyres and my speedo's pretty bad. To go 60kmh, my speedo reads 70kmh, 80 I have to go at about 90. So I think my speedo is out about 10kmh. I was looking into playing around with the gear stuff inside the box, but I've given up. The thread I used as a guide says to use 'X' gear drive if you use some formula and get between 'XX' or 'XXX'. When I use the formula calculating with both standard size wheels and aftermarket, I'm told to use the same gear. Find that last paragraph confusing? That's how I felt. hahahah. I think I'm just gonna get my speedo re calibrated as well or just ignore it and minus 10kmh to what my cluster reads.
  17. Is the oil milky? If it's milky, water has gotten into the oil and it's highly recommended that you don't drive it. The oil no longer lubricates properly and could kill your motor.
  18. My wheels weighed in at ~7.5kg each. They were Hoshino Mesh in 15x7.5 -8 and SSR Mesh in 15x7 +5. Both weighed in at the same number with my bathroom scales. To get the wheels to my door in about a week from postage, it was pretty much double the price of what I paid (22 600yen, Aussie dollar was like 89yen at the time :) ).
  19. Hahaha love the 'coilunders'. Keep it up mate. :)
  20. Congrats! You must've been pretty happy no else had bidded. The wait begins... I started getting impatient at the 4 week mark! :) Ended up getting to my door on the start of the 9th week (yes I counted every single day :) ). Cheers
  21. The last two hours is where I would start worrying. hahah With the hunt for my wheels, I was all excited because no one had bidded, but then in the last hour, so many people came and bidded. :bash: Oh and the end result was that the ending price was over double what I max bidded. :y: All the best with the bidding and regency inspection. :bash:
  22. Ah nice! It looks like they're in a pretty good condition. I'm assuming you're buying them from Yahoo Auctions Japan? Let us know how it goes. I'm tempted to get another set of wheels for my ride. Thinking of staying meshies too, just in a less aggressive offset for the daily drive, then install the aggressive stance wheels for weekends. Looks like I haven't changed wheels, but I really have!
  23. Gold will look nice on white. I would try to get the Top Secret gold myself..
  24. 20 seconds! :y: I had to rev mine for 10-15mins at 2krpms+ without an exhaust as well. I'm glad no one came over and complained to me. hahah, they probably tried, but I didn't hear them. :bash: Vids/pics!!
  25. Those test results suck dude. :bash: Better luck with the next motor.
