I was thinking the exact same thing. :y: I've always thought about doing a RB20 into a KE. RB20s sound insane hitting the limiter!
-
My drivers window winder is currently stuffed at the moment too. Gears have all been stripped some how. It'll just go up to a certain height and the winder will keep turning. Down isn't a problem most of the time. Putting the rear door winders up front won't work. The front doors are a little longer and the way the glass goes down is not right from memory.

Hrmm, I should've replied to this thread instead of the one over on ns.com. Oh well... About that 'going through Regency because it's been defected' thing, would you be able to just sell it to someone interstate, someone in Victoria for example? That way all you need to get the car registered is a road worthy certificate and a checkup at VicRoads (different laws in Vic compared to SA so no need to clear defect)? For the road worthy, just get the basic things fixed up and then bring it into VicRoads who don't check it all that much anyway? Or am I going about it all wrong and the system doesn't work like that or?

:P Haha, don't worry, I would never put a scope or scoop on my car. :P Yeah, I bought these mirrors only because I saw them, I didn't think it through and wasn't a fan of them at first, but it's grown on me. Which mirrors are you talking about? Personally not a fan of those Starlet mirrors on eBay and the ones that do look good cost $200+.
-
I'm still waiting on my scope, it's on the way here. Still unsure on how I would mount it. :P

Alright, here are a few shots of the tacho and where it's located. It's just thrown in the glove box and looks a bit like a bomb. Closed up and everything's normal. And here's a picture to show you what happens to my tyres when I carry 2 people, about 50kg each. Rub rub rub. Driving by myself isn't so bad. Only rubs when I hit a bump in the road. :y: :D Edit: I forgot to mention. Go to this link to see how my guard mirrors work. A hint before you view that thread, 'don't get guard mounted mirrors if you want to see more.' :y:
-
I know this is a little late now, but for those who are still interested in seeing how bad guard mounted mirrors perform, I've taken some pics. These were all in the drivers seating and viewing position. Right mirror Left mirror with blind spot Middle, inside mirror for reference And what things look like when it's mounted on the door, where it's supposed to be. I hope these give people a better idea of how bad guard mirrors are. haha. This was in clear weather, imagine in rain when there's all droplets of water on the mirror and the rear window fogged up. :y:

Smashing on another socket wasn't an option for me. The nuts would be worthless without the locknut. I didn't want to waste a set of nuts which are worth $200+ new. :D Also the locknut is 7 sided, not sure if any regular socket will get it off. Yeah, pretty much enjoying what I've built. I must admit I'm getting a little bored of it though. hahah. I need to do something new to it. I think a new seat (Bride), steering wheel (Nardi deep corn :y: ) and that's it for this car. Drive it till it dies. Will try to get a few shots of the tacho up. Edit: Here's a little video of what I'm trying to do with my rev limiter. All for shits and giggles. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=hlDvlBLPHwI

Hrmm, since the last time, I purchased a new key for my lock nuts, $52. :( It was a costly mistake, remember to take your key off your nuts before you drive! Umm what else.. wheels and suspension is all back in, I'm driving it around again, but with caution (no Friday/Saturday night drives anymore). I've installed a tacho with a shift light which is used as a rev limiter. Instead of cutting fuel (what the standard rev limiter is), my rev limit is now cutting the spark. I still haven't got it to blow sparks or anything like that yet. hahaha. Works similar to the Bee-R rev limiter, just can't adjust the rate at which it cuts at. The HUGE 5" tacho is hidden away, I feel embarrassed to have it. :D And no... I haven't recorded a video just yet, but managed to take a few more photos of the car on the road driving if that counts? :D Not sure where the rest went. :y: Plans, not really anything at the moment, but I was about to purchase a set of cams and a TRD head gasket to make the most of the cams. What happened with that idea? The cams sold and I can't be bothered pulled the head off again. haha Oh I'm in need of replacing my valve stem seals. It's blowing a bit of smoke during engine brakes. :y: Edit: After changing the seals, I was thinking a new seat and steering wheel. Once that's done and hopefully nothing else goes wrong, start attending some track days.

Ke70 Manual Conversion What Gearbox 2
adam-__- replied to ke70sleeper's topic in Automotive Discussion
Going to a T50 (4AGE), you will need to source a hydraulic clutch pedal box (hard to find these days), whereas going to manual using a K50, a cable clutch pedal box is used. I would say just wait till you can afford the 4AGE and go to manual once instead of going to the K50 then T50 later on. Hope that made some sense. -
Congrats on the sale mate. All the best with the new Corolla.
-
Been a while since I've read this thread, but what are you planning on getting after letting this go? Love the bosozoku look.
-
I will try to take a few photos to show you guys how much of a difference the door and fender mirrors are. The shots will be from where the driver is sitting. It should show you how much worse they are, they're definitely just for looks.
-
I'm currently running fender mirrors and I can tell you now, they don't work as well as door mounted ones. Can't see shit out of them and in the rain they're worse. I wouldn't recommend them if you're wanting more visibility. You'll have to do more head checks and will have to rely on your middle/inside mirror. Once your glass fogs up, that's it. :) I say have a drive in a car with them already and decide from that.

Good work mate. Finally some luck with your motors. The TRD copy extractors should clear the slave cylinder, you just need to get a new line made up with a banjo bolt to clear it. But then not all of them are made exactly the same so some might just clear, some might hit.. Keep us updated. :D

Seeing that it drives fine at 1/4 throttle then really bogging down at full throttle, I would say it's TPS related. If it's bogging down in certain rev ranges, it could be anything to do with the ignition (plugs, leads, etc) or timing's out.
-
Yeah, my paint cracked a little bit. Mostly around the edges though. I used a heat gun, heated it as much as i could without wrecking the paint (pretty much till you can't touch it really). I'll try to dig some photos up for you. It's definitely quicker than using a guard roller and crack isn't 100% guaranteed to stay put with the roller as well. Will try to find some pics of edges. With those, you can see that it doesn't have dents and some do. The last few are the ones before pliers went to work, that was all done with a pole, not too bad.
-
I flared my guards with the pole. It didn't turn out too bad to be honest. It's not something you'd do on a overrated paint job though. The dents I have in my guards are from pliers. I just got sick of the guards cutting into my tyres. Instead of pliers, I would recommend using the hammer and hammering the sharp spots down. Make sure you've got a strong pole, something with a diameter of 2" should do and not too long otherwise it'll start rubbing the ground. :P
-
I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure enough to mention anything. I'll try and take a look today though to make 100% sure they don't fit.
-
I think a 205mm tyre will be a good size on the 8.5" wheel, but I really think you'll need a 195. You would also need to flare your guards too. My rear ride height is roughly same as yours, if not probably 10mm lower, my guards are flared, I've got 185s and they still rub ( ). I would recommend a flare of the guards and a 195 tyre.
-
I was lucky to have been let off with a major defect, but only for wheels protruding from guards and tyres. No roadworthy certificate needed or a fine, just a check up at VicRoads. I got pulled up on the way home from the city at 3am and on a main road, I asked for it really. I live in one of Victoria's defect hot spots so I wouldn't be surprised if I got defected again, it's a question of when it'll happen. I'll definitely let you know when they're for sale. Hurry up and install your wheels already!
-
Bahaha. I'm not planning on selling my wheels at the moment, but I will definitely put them up for grabs if/when I get another defect. Just over it. hahaha. Will let you know, I did promise you I'll sell them to you first if you were still interested.
-
I think the following link could be of some help. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...e/Decarbonising Sounds a bit like your motor needs decarbonising.
-
With the wheels being 8.5" instead of 8", just make sure you're measuring where the tyres would bead on the wheels, not lip to lip. Lip to lip will usually end up about an inch bigger than the real width. If it's really 8.5" wide then congrats! I want them. :P :D
-
Not surprised you're wanting to sell at all mate. I know how you must feel. You've achieved your goal, time to move on.. Good luck with the sale. :)
