  1. It doesn't learn that much. Your answer is that you don't need to do this now until you can afford it. All you will get is grief, and you will hate the car.
  2. It's been done on a bigport but it took a lot of work to get it to run reasonably with a standard ECU. You need an aftermarket ECU. Or run a factory 20 valve ECU, but that will be a major headache too, and not making full use of the engines potential
  3. I originally had a 3 rib bigport in my AE86 before pulling it out and installing a 7 rib bigport. From memory (it was years ago), whilst the wiring is the same, the plugs are different. The later engine having the later style plugs. This means that you need to use the correct sensors for whichever loom you have. Early sensors don't fit the late loom plugs. In my situation I retrofitted the early sensors to the later engine and used an early style loom.
  4. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/archive/index.php/t-36570.html ?????? That's from googling a46-00
  5. Did you try the guys I mentioned in your post a few weeks back?
  6. Seeing as though the guards you use will be fibreglass, you either sikaflex or bolt them on. The guard profile is slightly different from TE27 to KE25 but not insurmountable. If I get keen, I'll try and post up some pics showing the differences between the two. My KE25 is not ideally situated at present for side on photos
  7. The fuel in my daily is older than that. Ignore it, it's normal
  8. O2 sensor on these is only relevant at idle or cruise. Euro versions of 16 valves didn't even have an O2 sensor, instead they had a variable resistor which adjusted mixture at idle. Your fuel economy is more related to your foot. Edit: the black shit is the standard black soot you see in your exhaust pipe thanks to abolition of lead in petrol. Back in the old days, your exhaust pipe was grey. In those times, black suggested super rich or oil burning. When the engine is cold, condensation left over in combustion runs out the blackened exhaust pipe and leaves black shit on the drive. Once hot, it evaporates and you don't see it.
  9. Is this the one that was at Donuts a few months back? That was a great little car.
  10. I reckon I can cope with that. Very happy to help out if required. I really don't want to turn up at a show in the Renault ever again.
  11. I've been a bit distracted lately, so won't have any of mine there. Happy to help out if you are not too far from Surrey Hills.
  12. A 2T or 2TG (they are different) inlet manifold will not fit a 4AGE of any type.
  13. I reckon you made the right decision. You will find a clean one for that with more reg.
  14. I might need to give them a call and see what they can tell me. I have a rusty drivers side levin guard here I was going to repair, but at a minimum need a passenger side, if not both.
  15. Sorry Styler, bit stunned. By TE27 style you mean the guard lips are not there and instead are pressed to accept the bolt on flare? May be asking a bit much, but can you recall the condition of these and whether there was passenger and driver available? My experience with Phil's is that receiving info remotely is pretty unreliable......
  16. The reg is about to run out,so you will be up for that. Fender mirrors are awful. No mention of RWC which I presume you have over there. It's cheap, but who knows what work it needs. These things are common as muck, I would find another one with matching paint, good tyres etc. They are pretty indestructible, main thing to look for is accident damage. Edit: If you have time, a twin cam is a much better car.
  17. I have a few part books. Master Catalogue which includes the KE1x models plus KE11, KE15 & KE17 specific books. In all of them, only two mirrors are listed as common across all KE1x models from 1966. Both are the fender mirrors listed above. The bullet style was available later in the model run. Both mirrors are listed as optional. I have a lot of KE15/17 brochures mainly from Japan plus Aust & US. The only brochure that shows a door mirror is the US brochure. I can't be sure, but as best as I can tell, the door mirror fitted to the left hand door of the US version, looks very much like a right hand side fender mirror? There is always the possibility that any KE10's sold in the Australian market, may have had an Australian sourced optional door mirror fitted at the dealership
  18. There were two basic types available. My fully imported KE15SL has the basic flat chromed mirrors, but in Japan there was also the option of the bullet style as also seen on various other models. Whatever you get, make sure they are KE1x specific as the length and angle of the neck varies between various models. Try greatskinz or A_FC3S, both on this forum and very reliable sellers located in Asia where this stuff was more common.
  19. Indeed they do. Funnily enough, it is smells that set me off. Something in plastics or whatever will instantly take me back as a small boy getting into my Dad's brand new KE20SL. Or being in a workshop and suddenly I'm transported back to pre delivery warehouses or service garages I'm sure were in City Road Sth Melbourne and Flemington Rd in AMI days, or hanging around bored at Goulds as a young teenager whilst sorting out a new Cressida purchase.
  20. A big dealer in high street Northcote. Have lots of memories going there as a kid. Also AMI city and LeMans Footscray.
  21. I have set of brand new aftermarket ones I could loan you Stuart if you want to get some made to factory tolerances. Would always be keen on a set. Years ago I got some made in urethane at a plastics place in West Melbourne for a mates KE15 race car. That went on to win the Victorian 1600cc Sports Sedan title powered by a stock 4AGE.
  22. Rather than put your strut tubes in a vice, make up a right angle piece of steel like a large piece of angle iron. Drill two holes on one angle to mount the bottom of the strut tube to, the other side of the angle goes in the vice.
  23. The actual SST illustrated in the parts book is essentially a piece of pipe with welded pins as altezzaclub describes
