Pull the sender out and check it with a multimeter. Resistance (ohms) should vary as the arm goes up and down. If that's good then work your way forward to the gauge as above. Sometimes the sender floats get holed and fill up with fuel.

Shitty laws like this are there in an attempt to discourage ʞ©$ɟheads from behaving like ʞ©$ɟheads on the road. I don't want my family or I, or friends, or anyone for that matter, to end up dead because some "legend" thinks he's a drift or burnout king, is desperate to win the "race" to the next traffic light, or because he has ridiculous "performance" mods that render his car a potential death trap. I see the product of stupidity and inattention on the roads everyday, and believe me, you don't want to be there.

3TCgarage.com is US based and there are some seriously fast cars on that site. If you are keen on the 3TC route, have a look there.

4AGE is easier to source and locate parts for, especially as I'm guessing you are in the US? Originality doesn't tend to factor in show judging with these cars. Build what you prefer and enjpy it.

Stuart kindly measured his adjusted bar and I have provided this detail to Todd at Selby's. The centre to centre measurment at the eyes is 895mm. Todd can make the bar to that measurement, which will hopefully prevent further issues with disc braked cars. Cost for the bar & kit is $253 + freight. I am going to get one made up for my car. Perhaps if anyone else is interested now or later, you may wish to talk to Todd specifying the adjusted bar. Todd Selby Signature Swaybars 10 / 34 Quinns Lane South Nowra NSW 2541 Ph- 02 4421 2722

You can pick them up really cheap on yahoo, and there are usually 2 pages of them. And as they don't weigh much, post is cheap. There are always a few modified Jap tuning house ECU's there too. Problem is no instruction manual and a few extra inexplicable plugs. http://www.importmonster.com.au/yahoo?cat=2084008431&term=ae86#2084008431

If you are talking about this one: AE86 Corolla 4AGE - (Largeport / TVIS / MAP / Yellow Plugs) Toyota Part Number: 89661-14061 That part number is definitely wrong. I checked on a certain unnamed part website and can tell you that ECU was for the Carina/Celica/Corona. I am positive (and have checked) that there were 2 factory JDM AE86 4AGE ECU's 89661-12051 9/83 - 4/85 89661-12150 5/85 - 3/87 I have one of each Of course there were also USDM and Euro versions.

Without going back over the thread, my understanding was that the injectors are fired differently from the AE82 ADM to the JDM AE86. I know if I put a ADM ECU in my factory loomed AE86, it won't fire. Worth noting the 4AGE's were also fitted into Celica's and Corona's over there, so worth checking the part number to ensure you actually get an AE86 GT ECU. Off the top of my head there were 2 or possibly 3 versions that were AE86 specific. If you look here at the diagnostics manual, the pinouts and various systems are well set out

Virtually nothing I would say. Certainly wouldn't expect to make a profit on it. Be a shame to leave it though as someone may benefit from it as a parts car or even prepared to look at resurrecting it. Perhaps send silverra23 a message. He could list details on the Toyota car club aust website. Anything is preferable to leaving it to rust away surely.

I had a chat to Todd at Selby's during the week, and then sent him along an email attaching the photos from Tommy's thread, along with an old one of Felix's to demonstrate the issue. He got back to me on Friday asking for the measurement eye to eye of an adjusted bar as per Tommy's, so he can check it to his drawings. Just waiting on a response from Stuart. Hopefully the measurement is obtainable without too much drama.

Ae86 Engine Cross Members Into Ke70 (Ps Vs Nps)
parrot replied to The_enthusiast's topic in General Mechanical
If you have no intention running power steering with the assorted pump, pulleys and idlers etc, get a non power steering rack. Far more common and less hassle. If you are running PS, you also need the shorter PS steering arms Edit: I should clarify that the Non PS crossmember does differ a little from the PS crossmember in the rack mounts. -
vague ifs buts and maybe's are impossible to diagnose without looking at the car. You need to have it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing before you get in an accident. Diagnose it properly rather than randomly replacing parts. If you don't trust your usual mechanic, get someone else to look at it.

3Tgeu Conversion To A Ke20, What Sway Bar Do I Run?
parrot replied to benhachi's topic in General Mechanical
My understanding is that it is a TA22 swaybar. I have an actual TE27 one here I can photo and measure if required. -
Everyone makes a mistake sourcing things at some time or other. I can assure you I have. Don't beat yourself up about it. At least you have found a solution!
-
Well the answer to your first post is 1. There are a lot of differences between a TE31 and a KE30 to start with, the LHD / RHD differences adds to complexity. Everything will bolt in to the shell, but a lot of stuff isn't common to each model. There are no TE31's in Australia Take it from someone who has spent years chasing factory parts to convert a basic AE86 (SR5 in the states) to full GT (GT-S in the states), the latter which we didn't get in Australia. And several more years accumulating every part to convert a KE25 to a TE27, the latter which we also didn't get in Australia. The differences in both cases are profound. If you are really keen, you would be advised to locate a car in Japan with everything on it. Anything else will cost you a bucket, well more buckets buying it piece by piece unless you have lots of time to source and accumulate things. A lot of the parts I have came after passing over more expensive ones and waiting patiently for a cheaper one to come along. There was a guy in Australia recently who brought in a TE37 levin fairly economically from Japan. His car isn't concourse, but that isn't the point.

It is so uneconomical it isn't funny. There are a lot of differences between a TE31 and a KE30 to start with, the LHD / RHD differences adds to complexity. Nice idea. best you forget about it immediately. Seems a bit of a US fad as I have seen other guys converting TE27's which at least already have all the TE stuff as well as AE86's

Thanks for those great photo's of the sway bar guys. I'll chat to Selby's and see what they say.
-
Hell yes. I'm sitting here sweating like a pig at 10.20pm, since humidity has also hit. Whatever happened to that idea of running a pipeline from Qld to Victoria rather than it going out to sea with all your buildings, bridges etc?
-
Thanks Stu & Stuart I will get in touch with Selby direct and have a chat about it. Hopefully they may be happy to adapt the masters as likely many people will elect to upgrade to disc front ends. I'll let you know how I get on.
-
Ancient thread resurrection directed at kickn5K Stu, your Selby front bar, does it have any issues with the front caliper fouling? Like you, I am planning on putting in the KE55 brakes. Researching around the net, it appears they are probably made to the same masters as the whiteline bars, but possibly Selby's may be more accommodating in massaging the bar slightly in manufacture to prevent this. A zillion years ago (1980's), the Selby guys were always very helpful, and my Whiteline experience with the AE86 (n = 1) encourages me to speak with Selby again. If you have a photo showing contact, I would be grateful.

Toyota May Possibly Reintroduce The K Series
parrot replied to Banjo's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
"The new i-ROAD offers three distinct drive modes that help tailor dynamic performance to the driver's needs. The drive modes - Normal, Eco, and Sport -are made available through driver-selectable switches. In Sport mode, throttle response is enhanced and steering effort is weighted from centre to offer a sportier character. Eco changes throttle response and A/C power usage to help improve fuel economy. Steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters help provide a sportier drive while in the D or S Mode, where the revised throttle helps improve shift response to help maximize engine power and vehicle performance. The all new 9KG-E 1800cc engine eschews turbo charging technology returning to the purity of naturally aspirated induction roar, whilst retaining the in block camshaft to additionally pressurize the fuel charge, ensuring emissions expected of today's advanced vehicles."
