Victorian Engineering Rules And Regulations For Engine Upgrades
parrot replied to MIKE KE55's topic in Engine Conversions
My experience is old now, and related to putting a 4AGE 16 valve into an AE86. Essentially, as that engine wasn't available via the manufacturer in that chassis in this country, it needed engineer approval. Yes I know it was available overseas, yes I know a couple of evaluation cars came in (wait for the inevitable rumours of "x" other manufacturer imports), yes I know it is the same block etc etc. However it gets down to different braking systems, emissions and so on. This may not be relevant to your specific situation, but gives you some insight into vicroads engineering thinking. The only way to find out is to write to them, outline what you plan to do, and seek advice. They were very helpful. Probably not what you want to hear, but there you go. Asking the person over the counter at vicroads is a waste of time. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/PermitsModificationsAndDefects/Modifications/NotifyingVicRoadsOfChangesAndModifications.htm This is a cut and paste of the more relevant section. Change of engine 1. Replacement engine is identical to the original engine, or is an option allowed by the manufacturer for the same model vehicle The optional engine must be offered in Australia by the vehicle manufacturer as an option for that vehicle (or certified variants). The change of engine may be recorded by VicRoads provided that the registered operator or a motor mechanic, or dealer in that make of vehicle or an Automotive Engineer signs a declaration certifying the engine is optional for the vehicle model, and that all modifications made by the manufacturer for the same vehicle model with that optional engine have been completed. You will need to attend a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to have the vehicle's engine inspected to confirm the new engine details. No appointment is required. You will also need to complete a Change of Vehicle Description form. 2. Replacement engine is not of a type offered by the vehicle manufacturer as an option for that vehicle or where alterations, or changes to the vehicle's frame or structure are made, and/or specially fabricated supports or structures are used You will need to attend a VicRoads Customer Service Centre for an inspection of the vehicle to confirm the new engine details. You will also need to complete a Change of Vehicle Description form and provide VicRoads with: a VASS Approval Certificate from a VicRoads Vehicle Assessment Signatory an original receipt for the purchase of the engine as proof of ownership of the engine 3. Replacement engine is not of a type and/or make offered by the vehicle manufacturer as an option for that vehicle, but is equivalent in general configuration, power, mass, and emissions standard to that of the original or an optional engine for the vehicle model and can be installed without any structural alterations. The change of engine may be recorded by VicRoads provided that the registered operator or a motor mechanic, or dealer in that make of vehicle or an Automotive Engineer signs a declaration certifying that all modifications made by the manufacturer for the same vehicle model with that engine, have been completed. A Change of Vehicle Description form must be completed providing new engine details. An inspection to confirm engine details is also required unless a Certificate of Roadworthiness or VASS Approval Certificate including the new engine number is provided (only for a currently registered Victorian vehicle). An original receipt for the purchase of the engine must be provided as proof of ownership of the engine. When a VASS Approval Certificate has been supplied for a replacement engine, then an equivalent replacement engine can be fitted without another VASS Approval Certificate being presented (eg 350 c.i. V8 engine replaced with 350 c.i. V8 engine). -
Ke25 Master Upgrade - Non Boosted. Help Needed!
parrot replied to KE25_rolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
ADM AE86's were drum rear. The prop valves do differ between ae86 drum and disc rear. I suspect your main issue would be the rear slave cylinders. If I can find it in my library, I will post up the ae86 rear cylinder bore, unless someone comes up with it beforehand. There are two different bolt patterns for ae86 brake masters, the less common Jap sourced one being diagonal. Whatever, all ae86's were boosted so you will need to work out how to fit these to your pedal box without a booster. I imagine Ke70's were also. Have you looked about on toymods? They love this sort of thing on there. -
Ke25 Master Upgrade - Non Boosted. Help Needed!

AE86 & TE27 are both 13/16. Earlier TE27's were unboosted. -
Shame on you Mechanical Sympathy! http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/68039-corolla-te30/page__p__672476__hl__+te31#entry672476

Carbonboy is very well informed regarding club reg and has given you a clear explanation of why it won't qualify. As he says, "I'm not saying don't go ahead with your project, just saying that you should be aware of what is achievable & what is not." People here mean well and simply want you to be under no illusion regarding your chances of getting this in under club reg. Its_AUDM_yo has concisely addressed your question Bouncing people is not the way to expect assistance.

I think this was the car I was checking out at Classic Japan. Very impressive. Do you have any issues with the wheels binding on the hubs? I had heard the Mazda steel wheels do this, but not sure about the alloys?
-
Reminds me of the day I walked into Pick Pay N go to find a complete KE25 sitting there. And Dave calling me about the KE10 at Centre Rd. Doesn't happen a lot now unfortunately

Once again I got to admire your handiwork Doogs, very impressive. The day also helped me decide on my wheels for the KE15. Had a good look at the KE20 with early RX7 alloys on it and was sold! Have picked up two, need 3 more! -

Is there some story behind it? It looks just as good in the flesh as it does in the photos -

Agreed. One gripe was the mighty boy with the plumbing setup attached to his stereo...... Or perhaps I'm just getting old. Bumped into a family we know, wholly unconnected to Jap car scene. They were passing by, saw the signs and stopped for a look. Now he is mad keen to find himself a Datsun Roadster/Fairlady! My car of the show was the Toyota 800 along with all the Honda S600's. I reckon it would have been a very hot drive home in the Toyota 800 though. And great to see the Group A Skyline and AE86 there. Disappointed the Corona RT55 GT5 didn't come. Could look at that all day. And as Dave was saying, hard to believe there isn't at least one Hakosuka in Melbourne? -
They were definitely available in that colour. Shall look forward to seeing how you get on.

It says it's a rear. Perhaps meant to be fitted across the rear shock mounts as a supplementary chassis brace According to this, it's a rear strut bar. http://www.cuscousainc.com/downloads/dl/file/id/30/toyota_corolla_ae86_all_product_list.pdf Type ST Make: TOYOTA Model: Corolla - Solid Steel/Round with Center Turn Buckle Tension Adjustable - Need to trim rear panels - 2TG 1600cc Price : $160.00 MSRP : $160.00 Product: Strut Bar - Type ST Rear Toyota Levin/Trueno TE27 AE86 Part Num: 116 511 A - See more at: http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-strut-bar-type-st-rear-toyota-levin-trueno-te27-ae86.html#sthash.bt3F4Q19.dpuf Product: Strut Bar - Type ST Rear Toyota Levin/Trueno TE27 AE86 Part Num: 116 511 A - See more at: http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-strut-bar-type-st-rear-toyota-levin-trueno-te27-ae86.html#sthash.bt3F4Q19.dpuf Product: Strut Bar - Type ST Rear Toyota Levin/Trueno TE27 AE86 Part Num: 116 511 A - See more at: http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-strut-bar-type-st-rear-toyota-levin-trueno-te27-ae86.html#sthash.bt3F4Q19.dpuf

I think you will find that is a rear strut bar?
-
You got my hopes up there! Perhaps it only picks up Chinese FM stations. Oh, and by the way Mr Bull at a gate, ever heard of heat!
-
I have to say, I'm seriously impressed that you managed to work out where it was coming from.
-
I'm guessing it's something to do with having no legs......
-
There is no question foglights were a factory option. But from looking very closely at the dealer brochures, and what I have personally seen subsequently, I don't believe these are the factory items. Rather they are period aftermarket which is just as awesome in my view. The question is how were they wired, and I would say the individual dealers either did it themselves, or got a local bloke to come and do it.

T series differential carrier gasket. Print in A4 The gasket was ever so slightly wider than A4 so just continue the radius around slightly on your gasket paper. Also the axle face gaskets at the end of the axle tube, also for a T series (Not AE86), along with the brake booster to firewall gasket for various cars including Corolla's. As always, A4
-
I had a good look through my assorted printed resources and there was nothing at all about the foglights. I think your best bet is to contact kzhd-tokyo and ask them if they can have a look at the car for you. Hopefully they still have it. I understand where you are coming from about keeping everything original, but I suspect you will struggle. I think with this sort of thing it was just however the dealer at the time elected to connect them.
-
Is that an actual TTE TE27 along the line there, or a copy?
-
Very nice! And I assure you, your English is better than our understanding of assorted Belgian languages. Are there many older Japanese cars in Belgium? I know one of the guys in the Netherlands (The Doctor) converted a KE20 to basically TE27 2TG spec.

Have a look through here. Not sure if it will help, but may give some guidance http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/61441-weber-settings/page__hl__%2Bweber

Hi Jurgen No. 1 Welcome! No. 2 Photo's!! Or even better, put a thread in members rides. No. 3 My wife is in Ghent as we speak. If you see her, tell her to buy me a present, preferably Toyota related. And to hurry home so I can get out and work on my cars. She is the hot blond.

Need Help With My 69Rolla Front Brakes..
parrot replied to AMITO69ROLLA's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Your struts are 3 bolt attachment to the steering arm, so later struts isn't a bolt on, although some have managed it Disc brake conversion is simple http://www.rollaclub...rake_Conversion Edit: there are various threads detailing it on here. Do bear in mind that in Australia our KE55/70's used a Girling caliper. Essentially you need KE70 Discs and calipers. Discs very cheap on ebay, KE30 or KE55 backing plates and caliper mounts. -
Some new additions: As before print in A4 size 4AGE Bigport throttle body and ICSV valve gaskets. 4AGE throttlebody.pdf Also what I believe is an S series diff gasket. I ordered a T series one from Toyota but they stuffed it up S series diff.pdf I should have some T series diff gaskets soonish thanks to Amayama and I will add these when they arrive.
