  1. On arrival, strapped to a pallet, it didn't have one single nut, bolt or screw on it, other than the screws retaining the build plate. Aaron thought I was crazy! Why didn't you just bring in a complete car he says. Well for a start you are looking at a minimum of about $14,000 in Japan, and with associated shipping, fees etc - it will be around $20K when it gets here. I believe the TE37 they brought in cost around $10K. i already have all necessary parts from my donor KE25, plus every single TE27 specific part so it wasn't too hard a decision to make. I blame TE278U who put the idea in my head! So after loading a few necessary items in the back of the car, it was out to Bayswater to get it moveable. This is how it looks at the moment. If you're keen, there is another one on Yahoo right now.........
  2. It's no problem
  3. Nothing exciting. Shell arrived safely. Import monster did a great job. Spent a morning getting it rolling and currently it is stored awaiting time which I never seem to have any of. Whilst of course it needs some welding, I was pleasantly surprised by its condition.
  4. That's the main bit in the TRD bible about areas within the chamber to polish. Other than that it recommends polishing the ports, nothing new there. There is also some detail about valve seats. Rather than rescan the book, it was easier to just post that link.
  5. Whoever you use, note the TRD instructions discussed here http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/35553-4ag-headwork-now-block-too.html
  6. Yes, works great for me. Costs me $4.99 per month and never had a problem. My interest is BBC & Channel 4 in the UK. It's all a bit beyond me, but I think they give you a local DNS address to get around being in a different country. You can try it out free for a week.
  7. This is on a TA22 but same story. Look at step 10 http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/78367-ta22-manual-conversion-pics.html
  8. There are wires you need to bridge that stop you starting an automatic in anything but park. Search around on the site, it has been discussed a number of times - you are not the first to get stuck on this!
  9. For those of you able to access UK channel 4, they screened an awesome documentary in the past week all about the Mosquito. Well worth viewing. Apparently my paternal grandfather flew these during the war, whilst the other was in a POW camp after being captured in Tobruk. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-plane-that-saved-britain/4od I use unblockus for access.
  10. So I'm tipping you picked up some free 18 inch Mercedes 4 wheel drive tyres and have upgraded the brakes accordingly? :laff:
  11. Love the Video! Interesting colour choices under the hood!! Just be aware the rear flares require cutting of the guards to make them fit properly. Og ikke bekymre deg, er din engelsk bedre enn noens norsk (Takket Google oversette :laff:)
  12. Disagree. I ran twin 40 DCOE's with a 4psi facet.
  13. I had a facet soft mounted to the boot floor in a Datsun 1600. It was hellishly noisy.
  14. Facet's, Mitsuba's etc are all meant to be located near the tank, ideally lower, and act as a push pump as you suggest. Mitsuba's have a built in filter, whilst facet's don't. A very good idea to use a pre filter if not otherwise fitted. Factory in tank pumps always incorporate a particle sieve at the pickup. So whatever electric pump you have, locate it near the tank. Make sure you soft mount it, as noise can be very annoying.
  15. Yes, GVW refers to the car complete with all fluids, passengers, load etc. Meant to be the maximum capacity for the vehicle.
  16. Good luck with it. Sounds like you are building a Toyota version of a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, although that was a 2.2litre
  17. You used to be able to buy little bottles of stuff to touch in breaks in the element. http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=demister+repair&_pgn=9&_skc=400&rt=nc

  19. Toyota Motor Sales Co. Ltd Service Specifications Toyota Corolla KE & TE series January 1972 Gross Vehicle Weight: KE20 & KE25 1185kg, KE26 1275kg Interestingly a US market KE20/25 was only 1155kg Japanese brochure lists a KE25 at 770, 760, 755 & 745 kg depending on the specification. A Levin Te27 came in at 845 or 855kg Edit: And a UK spec KE20 was 750kg.
  20. I presume you mean the front windscreen. You need to contact windscreen replacement business' to see if they can get one for a KE20. Be aware that a KE25 screen is different. Tojo2 will find this thread soon enough, and may be able to help you
  21. You might want to check window availability first. Other stuff is easily obtained.
  22. Yes I saw that set of badges and laughed very hard indeed. It's one thing asking, another getting it. I watch the various TE27 items in japan very closely, and some of the prices being paid over there now are eye watering. The speedo & 3 gauge clusters, long consoles have always gone for high prices, but now it's all the more run of the mill stuff as people seek to retain originality. Another pair of Toyota NOS front and rear screen seals recently sold for $225 each also on Yahoo. So as always, its about watching for opportunities.
  23. So for those of you complaining about the price you pay for AE86 bits, have a think about this. TE27 2TG Levin's/Trueno came without any chrome trim pieces. This includes the front and rear screen seals which do not have any moulding inserts, so the seals are specific to these models. A genuine NOS Front screen seal sold on yahoo last night for $900, whilst the rear sold for $670. The same buyer purchased both.
  24. My Datsun 1200 with a stock A12 motor had axle tramp. And that's a Datsun A12 motor, not a 12A Rotary. If you are serious, you will need to look at improving axle location with trailing arms, panhard rods etc, and having adjustability in your spring hangers to adjust pinion angles etc etc. Here is some light reading for ideas. If it worked for an Escort, it will work for you, though unfortunately you can't buy these bits for a Corolla of the shelf. http://www.iwankel.com/manuals/public/Motorsports/FORD%20PREP%20MANUAL/Suspension%20Rear.pdf
