  1. Haha Dan you know I know shit all about this stuff, right? That's why I ask these stupid questions. :yak: Rightio. Time for me to go look under my car haha. :y: Cheers. :loo:
  2. Cheers for the list of shocks. So if I wanted to change my rear shocks I could ask a place for shocks that either fit my KE70 or those cars? I'm not looking to change struts if it's avoidable which I'm thinking it will be now. I've been advised against King springs by too many people haha... but yeah I'll find some good springs. The decent shock part might not be so hard for the rear seeing Adam's list, but I guess I'll just have to shop around for something good for the front. Will do. :yak: Cheers guys.
  3. Cheers Adam. :loo: Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for your ae86 struts (I think you have them?)? Did you get them back and front? So if I lower it I'll definitely need short stroke shocks.. but: Has anyone found any short stroke shocks that will work? If anyone has, I'd be very interested to hear about them. I am not really fussed about bigger brakes as my 5K doesn't put out enough power to warrant extreme braking. :yak: Plus, I figure it will be simpler and cheaper to avoid changing struts. Cheers.
  4. Huh? You mean the brakes on the ra65 are bigger? If that's what you meant, then yeah I know. Pretty much anything is bigger than the pissy kesev brakes haha. It was Scarlett Johansson... so attractive. :yak:
  5. Hey. I want to lower my KE70. I'm upgrading shocks as well as springs because everywhere I read people are saying it's best to upgrade when you change springs. Now, I've done a lot of searching and have picked up a lot of links to posts about KE** suspension setups. Along the way I read in one post that money poured into stock KE70 suspension (I assume they meant keeping the KE70 struts) is money wasted. E.g a quote (not the previously mentioned statement, but similiar) from one of the threads: Just wanted to know if this is true? What's wrong with chucking in some Monroe/KYB shocks on stock kesev struts? I started a thread a while ago about cutting stock springs and concluded with the fact that it's not safe nor legal. However, some people who know what they are on about have done it (also upgrading shocks) and claim it works great. Eg: Will upgrading the shocks whilst cutting stock springs avoid the "springs not being held captive" issue? This question is purely theoretical and more out of curiosity of the conflicting opinions rather than intent to follow through and chop them, so please don't lock the thread. :yak: Also, will lowering my car affect any other suspension properties in an adverse way? I've read a lot about camber and castor... and XT130 LCAs vs GH/GE sigma LCAs to achieve negative camber and all that stuff... will I need to touch on any of that stuff just because I upgraded shocks/springs? Here are the relevant threads/posts/sites that I found on the topic to get an idea of why I'm curious about this stuff and to show I'm not being lazy: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&p=245145 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&p=245163 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...ost&p=26133 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...ost&p=26120 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&p=138051 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...ost&p=45650 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=24298 http://www.whiteline.com.au/default.asp?page=/faqsusp01.htm Cheers.
  6. Cheers. :yak: Oh, ok. What model celica?
  7. That'd be awesome if you could help me install them! Well I was planning on getting the Lovells from eBay like we talked about before, but I messaged them then and they said they only have front Lovells springs for the KE70, so I guess I will be getting springs from the place that I get the shocks (dunno what springs yet). Edit: Sort of related question... when you get a wheel alignment, they (mainly?) check your castor, camber and toe in/out... but on a stock car like a corolla, how would they "align"/adjust these? Also, Chris are you sure those shocks would fit on my struts? I was asking a few questions about springs and shocks and ke70dave mentioned the KE70 struts are 49mm in diameter. Could T18 struts be bigger?
  8. Cheers Chris!
  9. You're kidding, right? I have neither a multimeter or a soldering iron and wasn't planning on buying one just to fit a temp gauge. It was originally going to be mechanical... and I can't justify spending $70 on the gauge and however much else on the soldering iron/multimeter. I'm not very interested in electrical stuff. The whole day was a disaster.. couldn't find the right brass fittings anywhere and I got to the point where I just put it back to its original state and left it. :y:
  10. Haha. :y: I never was good with stuff like that, and this explains why (it's a comment from some site regarding the experiment): Edit: Although it should be noted that you don't learn card tricks at school. :)
  11. Haha I said all of the names of the cards out aloud and it still didn't make sense. I don't get how it works...
  12. For front and rear? Where was that from? What car did you put them in? Are they still going well? How expensive are those two brands? Haha.. I have a feeling they'll be heaps expensive? AE86 coilovers won't fit on KE70 struts though right? Also, how much are they?
  13. Anyone used Gabriel shocks? Are they any good? I've got a $50 super cheap voucher and I'm planning to do my shocks the same time I do my springs... From the website, Gabriel seems to be the only brand super cheap stock. Edit: Oh they can get in Monroe... for front and rear Monroe shocks for a kesev it's $391 (including $8.95 freight charge). That's pretty expensive, eh?
  14. Er... yeah. So the Trisco one didn't work and all the others except this Calibre one have senders that are too long. Even the Calibre sender with the adaptor fitting on it doesn't want to go in... it's very tight. I'm wondering if I should just put the old sender back on and not worry about it. The Calibre is electric instead of mechanical and I have no idea how to wire it so that will need an electrician. Very interested as to what everyone else did.
  15. Trisco gauges will not work as the senders they come with are TOO FRIGGON LONG. :y: Adam, so you used your old sender with the new gauge?
  16. Well, it is a good question...
  17. That's a bit rough, eh? I guess I was a bit reluctant to follow the advice because I didn't want to take apart the dash and end up not knowing how the hell to get it back together. That's why I was going to get the electrician to test it first. But, I'm guessing there are a few guys reading what you posted and agreeing to themselves, so I'll go out and do it. I lost my last Gregorys manual so it's gonna be a bit more than a $60 job, but I do want to learn so I'll do it.
  18. Yeah that looks nice and inconspicuous. The hard part for me is taking the dash apart to do it. I have no electrical knowledge either. Did you drill into the cluster?
  19. Yeah definitely go with that brown, looks awesome! Make a project thread? :y: Do you have spacers on the front wheels or something? They seem to stick out a lot more than the back.
  20. F^^^ yeah! That's soooooooooooooooooooo hot! Mind if I steal the fender mirror position?? :( How much were they? Looks awesome. What colour is it? I can't tell but I like it.
  21. Haha. You got an engine lined up?
  22. You mean the intake manifold was ported?? Do they do that? Haha. If so, I'm gonna have to get the gasket machined otherwise it will restrict the air/fuel.
  23. So will it matter if I use a standard 4k/5k intake manifold gasket? The holes for the ports on the gasket should match those on the intake manifold, right? So it shouldn't make a difference... I've gotta get one to stop the air leak.
  24. Hahaha that's awesome! And rotary powered too... crazy.
  25. Hahaha no you're not! I was thinking it was a stupid question as I was posting it though... the gasket holes are gonna be the same size as the intake manifold holes so it shouldn't matter...
