  2. Cheers for the article. I'll make the bracket myself, but I'll get an auto electrician to do the wiring and stuff. A question about the temperature sender being mounted under the top radiator hose... what is the grooved rubber seal? They don't have pictures of it anywhere that I can see. The installation that they've done looks haphazard (the wire going into the radiator hose and off the battery). Can it be done neater or is that as good as you're gonna get? Cheers!
  3. Answered everything, thanks! Zip ties wouldn't go too well with the cops, eh? Haha. I'd try and mount it properly somehow.
  4. Hey. Just wondering about thermo fan conversions. I'm considering chucking a thermo fan on as everywhere I've read it does a better job than the engine fan (is that what it's called?). Just wondering what happens to the engine fan... I remember reading that it gets removed... but how? Is it a pretty simple thing to do? I remember that when Chris and I did the 5k conversion that we needed to "turn the engine over" by manually moving the fan when we were doing something to the engine when it was out of the car. What happens in this scenario when there is no fan? Does removing it increase performance? I read (or heard?) that somewhere also. Also, what is the function of the engine fan? The thermo fan cools the radiator (yeah?), but does the engine fan cool the radiator or the engine (directly)? :) Cheers!
  5. Ahhh... can anyone give me a google maps route to get to city west? I'm trying to figure out how to get there but I have no clue!
  6. Holy friggon crap! Man you have enough info to do a FAQ with that! I feel bad because I'm actually getting a friend of a friend to do it for me... You went to all that trouble. :hmm: Haha. You should make a how-to/faq though... The friend drove my '70 and we listened to where it was coming from and we both agreed the right rear... so he said to just replace that one (he works at a bearing place so I think he knows his stuff).
  7. So you separate the axles from the car? :lolcry: Is that so he has to do less work so you can pay him less? Mine are making a little bit of noise at the moment and I'm pretty sure it's the rear... but I'm also pretty sure that my diff is whining a tad so I guess we'll see today. I have my mum's friend helping me out and he works at a bearing store so he has the stuff to do it all luckily. Seals as well? How much are they usually? Haha. How can you tell if they are fine? Cheers for your help guys!
  8. Hey. Got a few questions about wheel bearings in KE70s. I was told today that you can test if the wheel bearings are close to going if there is a lot of wheel play when it is pushed the opposite direction it spins (in towards the car) or if there is oil leaking... Is this right? Are there other ways as well or is this it? Also, I was told that the rear bearings are harder to replace than the front bearings... can someone elaborate on why this is? Cheers.
  9. Cheers. :lolcry:
  10. Hey did you get your carbies off Gem parts on eBay? If so, do you mind me asking how much you paid? Cheers.
  11. Awesome... very tidy engine bay!
  12. Ooo shit... Sorry to hear that!
  13. So it was a red light camera? Is the orange light thing just where you are?
  14. What kinda penalty did you get? I'm scared of myself now... I can think about other things but drive perfectly safely but this time I wasn't even aware of the lights...
  15. Had exams this morning at 9 am... probably the most confident I've ever been for an exam. Finished it in about an hour and a half (3 hour exam) and started to drive home. There are two routes I could have taken... I was thinking about it whilst driving... what would be quicker in terms of speed limit, etc. I wasn't paying attention to the road and drove through a red light! I saw it but was already halfway through it and I saw cars take off on my right... so I missed a crash but still... most f@$ked up thing I've ever done in a car. One thing that made it awesome was that there was a paddy wagon waiting at the lights on my left and I saw him... I drove through it not really sure what to do so I just drove along at 50 (60 zone) hoping that he didn't see me (HAHA). Eventually he caught up to me. Officer was hell nice... was sort of laughing and telling me that I ran a red light in front of cops etc. He said he didn't want a young bloke to die and stuff. He got my license and came back 10 minutes later with the fine ($150 and 3 demerits). Seems pretty fair considering how ******* stupid it was.
  16. I reckon that's a good price for the stuff that came with it... The paint is pretty cool! Haha. How is the diff going?
  17. Oh yeah last exam on the 20th... that will brighten my day. What brightened my day today was applying for a credit card. :bash:
  18. They'll look nice if we can get a sunset shot... just make sure we find a place where the lighting is right otherwise it can look really crap really easily.
  19. I've got a few more... are we having the owners with the cars? I've got one of me with the car but wasn't sure...
  20. Close up was my favourite haha.
  21. Saw a link to this posted on a bike forum... had to show everyone here: clicky Funniest thread I've ever seen... anywhere. :y:
  22. You should search the forums.. I found this in a few seconds. :y:
  23. It's a bosch battery so it's got that little indicator and it's showing up green which apparently means it's ok. But I can't see the acid level I don't think..
  24. Hm... perhaps I should take it to an auto electrician?
