  1. id say use something in the region of 1mm to 1.6mm as the rust repair section :P
  2. probably a good thing :P

Actually down the back :hmm: Came out of the back department and seen a toyota wagon with P plates and kept walking. spotted the URU plates and chrome bumpers and knew it was you :P
  4. If this goes ahead tomorrow night i may/may not make it. I have a BHG. just into the water jacket tho. Still goes wicked so if I'll be at the meet to catch up with anyone that rocks up. weather i cruise or not will be decided then.
  5. Pretty sure ACL have 2 dish sizes (6cc and 22cc going by memory) i shall be going the larger of the two :P From the last glance at the head it has a number 1 cast into it. had a looksy thru the FAQ and it says i have a 4K head. Now going by what i have read on here, Flat top piston 5K's have the same head as a 4K. Meaining i should have myself a flat top 5K. That said, if the above is actually correct all i should need to do is keep the same head and chuck in a set of dishys and hello to boostable compression :hmm:

    My Ke20

i reckon it looks tough. I'm with you on trying to minimise the cop magnet effect. When i got pulled over and sebsquently defected, the cop told me that haiving any part of the tyre or wheel outside the guard is instant defect. mine would have only protruded 5mm or so. Have a look at Mungi mods tech article on massaging guards.
  7. Going by Dougs Reciept from Southcotts it should only cost me about $720 to reco the 5K Short motor inc Acid dip, bore and hone, deck, fit and align cam bearings Grind the crank new Pistons and rings Full gasket set All bearings New timing chain and gears New lifters Then add what ever Just heads chargeme to do the head. or $180 thru Southcotts. If only i got some Ruddbux, everything written above ads up to 900  Get a 3K head reconed at Just Heads, hopefully cheap thru contacts. Not sure what the compression wil be with the 3K head, will get in touch with Taz Rx :hmm:
  8. Just don't moan and groan about petty  I'm in the same boat as Matt. The 5KZ should be in and running by the time GOR 2010 swings round. Decent exhaust, a Manual diff and a decet radiator. Wish me luck guys :hmm:
  9. if the ol bus is up to it
  10. if you have dished pistons and you use a 3K head it will result in lower compression. Taz Rx has a 3K big port head on his turbo 5K. If you have flat top pistons, using a 3K head should raise compression. Apparantly flat top piston 5K's have the same head as 4K's. So putting on a 3K head will do the same as putting one on a 4K (higher comp). The 5K should already have hydraulic lifters. 5K heads have non-adjustable rockers due to having hydaulic lifters. I assume with the right length push rod you may be able to run an adjustable set of rockers (not certain, just a thought)
  11. at this rate i'll have my 5K done
  12. nah mate, havent been able to get in touch at the moment. there are a guaranteed pair of stockies from me if you want them.
  13. well i just found $150 in some cards i got for my B/day while going thru my room. Hopefully with a bit more it should cover the cost of machining. Then pistons. Then balancing. then seals. bolt it all together
  14. 90% relates to the topic, but has anyone had any troubles with the 5K hydraulic lifters? Planning to SC the 5K and wont see near 8,000rpm.
  15. i don't have one in good condition here at all. but if anyone does, feel free to post it up. thanks in advance
  16. Very nice :) Can Someone post up an engine ID sticker (rocer cover). Is Someone able to do a 5KZ Sticker?
  17. haha, yeah. Ive been meaning to do my spark plugs since friday. Just can't be FKD going to the shed, getting the ratchet, getting the plugs out of the glovebox and actually doin it.
  18. def be done before christmas. wanna bring me a 4 or 7K EFI setup when u come down? Just hoping the block isnt cracked as the drivers side engine mount is bent. doent have any oil seepage so all should be good. if it is we just got some welding rods for doing cast iron at work so i'll get the welder to put them to good use. Had oil ALL over the intake and exhaust manifolds. due to a loose rocker cover, dum dums :)
  19. a while me thinks. already spent all of last weeks pay as of saturday night (5K, wendys, cougar and cola and petrol) hope fully the machine work and pistons don't blow the cost out too much.
  20. vids or it didnt happen :)
  21. yea pretty much as i wrote on thw last page Bored and honed 40thou ACL pistons ACL bearings Balanced pistons, rods, crank and flywheel Either open up the chambers or slap on a 3K head to lower comp (BP if one comes up cheap) Possibly solid lifter it. Hydraulic lifters and non adjustable rockers scare me :D Slap the SC on the bugger. Now that this engine will pretty much be a new one with low comp i might wind up the boost a bit too :)
  22. i think we can all relate to that one Fusion
  23. dunno if they can dyno tune it but I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.
  24. Just letting everyone know that there are about 4 K50's at lonsdale UPI 1 in a white KE70 1 in a red KE30 with mass damage and missing 5K :) (gearbox is missing the clutch fork) 2 in a white or beige KE70 panno (1 in the tunnel and one in the back) there may be more but thats as many as i remember.
