  1. Hey guys Well yesterday I got given a 4age block, crank, and smallport head ;) . The block is one of the early 3 rib types but has been cleaned up and honed ready to be put back together. So i have a few questions for the 4age gurus out there. 1. Am i right in presuming the smallport head will be fine to use with the 3 rib block? 2. It didn't come with a flywheel but can a flywheel from any fwd 4age be used? Its got the 8 bolt crank. 3. Will i need to use the smallport injectors and fuel rail with associated loom or is the bigport ones interchangeable? 4. Are the bigport pistons and rods the same as i believe the smallport had higher compression than the bigport? 5. Can 4ac conrods be used as i have a set of those? Thats about it for now. Not sure what I'm going to do with this yet but thinking it would look pretty sweet in ke20 or maybe even the ke26 panel van :bash: Thanks in advance Justin
  2. Could you just use normal paint? As radiators seem to be just painted with normal paint and still seem to work ok.
  3. Did anyone manage to catch the story on channel 9's EXTRA program on friday before last? They had a story on the Olsen's ke1#'s. Was cool seeing all the old rollas on tv.
  4. It will be interesting to compare my 5k power figure with that once i have it dyno tuned in a month or so. But either way thats some nice power for a little ke20.
  5. Do you have fuel at the inlet of the pump? K's take a long time to get fuel from the tank if its been run dry. Try putting a capful of fuel down the throat of the carby and if it fires then you can rule out any other problems and just get fuel to it. Hope that helps Justin
  6. You can pop the pistons out using an air compressor by using the air blower gun into where the hose screws into the caliper. worked well when i rebuilt my ke70 calipers.
  7. ah i will eat my words then. haha Sweet car though mate.
  8. hmm that's a bit of an over estimate. A ke20 weighs about 750 so id be saying around 600kg.
  9. Yeah i've got a 4k clutch assembley on my 5k. They are interchangable.
  10. Thursday morning mate head into the newsagent as early as possible. And you might be lucky
  11. The cost of then engine. It uses the same engine mounts and gearbox as any 3k, 4k . Ive got one in my ke20 and it is a quick little car.
  12. In the latest REDLINE mag (pommy version of HPI) there is an s15 with a twincharge setup but the supercharger runs all the time with the turbo just boosting into it. Seems to work alright. Maybe an option to consider.
  13. If the body is better on the other one it might be worth pursuing. That one looks like a LOT of work. But good luck with it dude.
  14. nice colour very similar to mine. Light blues look great on ke2*s
  15. Yeah still available new from toyota in Ipswich at least. $45 for the set though and $2.75 for the rubber ring. But no need as xany's method works a treat.
  16. Yeah mate ive done it. Easy as really, I'd suggest going with the ke70 box anyway as a) their plentiful and b)the shifter position is great. Just grab a ke20 manual tailshaft and it bolts right in. I think you may have to redrill the gearbox crossmember as well if i remember correctly. The pedal box isnt particularly easy to change but still acheivable. Apart from that you will have to sort some thing out with the wiring otherwise it wont start due to the auto gearbox that wont start while its in drive etc. Good luck mate.
  17. They arent all that difficult to adapt. On one of mine their is an early grill on a late ke20. Just have to drill a few holes if i remember correctly.
  18. What sort of bolts are you using mate? close up pics of the manifold side of the engine if its not too much trouble good to hear your getting it sorted cheers
  19. Thats a ke20 tail light isnt it? and a ke25 as well?
  20. That's an ae111 sprinter i think.
  21. They came off again tonight and it looks like there is a couple of high spots on the head. So trying with 2 new extractor gaskets on monday cause i need the car for the weekend. Back to stock carby power haah. I'll keep you posted. If anyone else has anything to add please feel free.
  22. Yeah I'm using the extractor gasket for the bigport as well.
  23. Yeah mine is leaking in that area the outside ports seem ok.
  24. Yeah ive spoken to a few mechanics and i'm going to pull them off again and check the head and try using 2 gaskets. If that doesnt work the head will have to come off. Yeah madrolla ive got even heights between both inlet and exhaust.
