I think it would cost more to get it rebuilt than it would to buy a new one, I spoke to an electrician who owned a 4AGE KE70 and he said the same thing. He said it's not worth rebuilding when you can get a brand newy for roughly the same price. When the engine is hot and you turn the key, the starter will wind over but really slowly and then just stop. I already tried cleaning the terminals and everything but it didn't make any difference. This one has a heatsheild on it, but it's still failing. I'm going to wrap the headers to see if it makes a difference. I think I'll get myself a smallport starter motor from work.

This sounds fun, I would do this if I was in SA.

Thanks Gavin. I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Are you going to bring your car on the cruise that's going to happen soon? My main issue at the moment is the starter motor, the starter motor won't turn the engine over when it's hot. So I think I will order a new one from work. There goes another $200 or so.

It does something, but that something is so minuscule that you will probably never notice it. It's mostly just for looks.

^Whoops, I didn't mean straight through as in no mufflers. It has a catalytic converter, a resonator and a muffler but they are all "straight through" type, no doglegs in the muffler or anything. Kind of loud and annoying, if it were a daily I would not tolerate the noise.

Dude I live in Brisbane too, you're welcome to a drive whenever you want! I will be bringing it on the cruise soon hopefully. And the car will probably never see NSW because I couldn't be bothered to drive it there with the 2" straight through and lack of stereo, lol. Except when your backyard exhaust is full of pinholes at the welds haha. Holy shit it revs well though.

^ :( Also, I'm in need of an AE71 tailshaft or can someone please recommend a place to get one balanced (Driveline services, Truckline, Hardy Spicer etc) and what kind of cost I'm looking at to have it done? I don't particularly want to spend more on balancing than what another tailshaft would cost.

Cheers guys. I was super happy to finally get the car on the road, but after a couple of kilometers of driving I have to say that this car is one of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced. Two years and like 5 or 6 thousand dollars to have a car that makes a lot of noise, doesn't go very fast, smells like petrol, has countless rattles and clonks, leaks exhaust fumes and wouldn't ʞ©$ɟing start when I needed it to at the Traffic and Main Roads inspection. I'll probably put the coilovers and wheels on tomorrow and see if it makes it out of the driveway with the retardedly low exhaust that was made for it. If it doesn't I'll just light it on fire and go back inside to eat Vegemite toast and watch Top Gear.

Then the coilovers, wheels, quadlights + grille and fully hektik racing front spoiler can go on.

You should see how well I cleaned it! I'll get a pic now because I'm on my way out to get CTP, rego and Japanese curry. FOOOOOOOOOK YEAH!

Ahhh so kind of you. I figure that with the safety check, I only pay the call-out fee once and if it fails he said he will just drop in another time when he's in the area. So I may as well get him to check it as soon as possible. If it fails then I know what I have to fix, rather than wasting time on shit I'm going to pull off as soon as it passes (stock suspension etc).

Safety check booked for tomorrow! Shiiiit I know it's going to fail.
