  1. For sale, Toyota Corolla KE38. $3000 ONO station wagon/ rear hatch. 5 speed, Victorian registration valid until June 2018. Car garaged in Tasmania. Rust In rear hatch. 2. Okay, quick question. I know the K50 comes in two variants as far as I know (one with the shifter located more forward and the other further back) I'm looking for a 5 speed box that will suit a KE38 with a 4K engine and bolt straight in. I've found one out of a KE70, will this fit in or do I need one from a different series corolla? Cheers!
  3. o.k. here I am, relatively new to the forum, first post. I was working for a vehicle restoration company early last year when I got offered this KE36 for sale, at the time I was 16 and although I was interested garage space at home was lacking, I joined this forumn however in the hope that one day the car would become mine and I could get some ideas, so here I am, year and a half later, about to get my p plates when I get a phone call asking me if I am still interested or she was going to the wreckers, well I couldn't let that happen could I?? $200 + $70 for a tow home and the car was in my possesion! I will try to post regularly as I move on, however garage space is tiny and I am still at school (year 12... Eeek, so time is an issue. Rear Shot? Interior, Magna/Commodore Seats? Roof Racks
  4. Hey all, I'm from Toowoomba QLD and i just acquired a '79 KE38 wagon from a friend. and after seeing some pics of other peoples rides it has me hooked. i can't wait to fix it up. bit rough around the edges but not to bad. rust is the major problem(have a mig welder now so can fix that) will need a new tail gate and a few trim parts but all in all it's mostly there. looking at do a full 4k rebuild with either Solex or Weber carbs, cam upgrade and a few other mods love NA motors. such a fun car. my 4yr old loves it. doesn't like going in our 02 VX Berlina any more. any one who has info or parts please pm me.. can't wait to get this bad boy looking overrated.
  5. Hey guys i am new to the page and haven't got used to the tools and settings yet but here its goes i have just purchased myself a project car its a 1980 toyota corolla ke38 wagon i got it for only $975 delivered to my door i was bloody cheering its in good condition for its age its got a little bit of rust at the bottom of the Hatch but its not that bad its got the dirty old 4k motor which i definitely will be pulling out and replacing it with something better haven't decided what motor i want to put in it yet but the plans are get it nice and stiff and just learn to slide in it i am planning its going to take me around 2 years to Fully build the wagon as I am building it for my opens mean its going to be turbo"d for sure and i almost forgot i got a spare gearbox, clutch, bonnet, guards, brake booster all for the same price no extra charge here are the photos of how i received it and i will keep you guys posted every time i do something new to it hope you guys enjoy the build and feel free on giving me tips and advice its much appreciated
  6. Hello All, I'm currently in the middle of swapping the 4K in my ke38 for a 4AGE. By "in the middle" I mean the engine bay is completely bare, the 4AGE is half assembled and that's all that's been done. So I'm not even really close to the middle. Anyway, I'm hoping the have the 4AG and K50 gearbox sitting in place in the next month or so. I work interstate so I don't have a lot of time to work on it all in one go. I'm at the point where I need to start worrying about all the ancillery components that means the car will make noise when I turn the key. This is my first experience with doing anything under a bonnet. So... can anyone tell me what puel pump I'll need? I've read on some other forums that some people use VL pumps and others use 225 Walbros. Everything I read was for a KE70 though. Not sure if it's going to be hugely different. Was hoping that I could source most stuff from a wreckers. Any helpful advice will be appreciated. I'll post some pics up of the build to date shortly. Cheers Will
  7. The start of my Rolla wagon project, reliving my youth by rebuilding the first car I owned 20 years later
  8. Gents, I'm sure this is a story a lot of you can relate to... I was disassembling the 16v 4age I'm putting into my ke38 wagon. After taking the pistons, rods and bearings out, I put them into seperate bags and lined them up in order. Here's where it gets crazy... I was propositioned into a three way by 2 swedish ladies who came walking through the front gate. In the throws of passion, the bags containing said engine components got moved before I had a chance to mark the bags with their respective order numbers! CHAOS! Now, having finished the marathon session with my new foreign lovers, I'm back to working on the 4a. I've attached photos of the markings on the bearing end caps. As far as I can tell, three pistons are identical and one is different. Three of the pistons have a '2' on the side of the bearing end cap and a '1' on the bottom. The other one has a '1' on the side and a '3' on the bottom. Can anyone help with this conundrum?
