cheers mate you have been very busy!

gtir quads are not the easiest thing to convert to rwd, and don't bolt up to a normal sr20 head.

No extra performance gained, extra throttle response, also quads prevent extra plenum volume from affecting throttle response.

they are 45mm which will be great with the turbo, but ideally in non turbo form you would want 50mm to get the max out of a very worked 2 litre.

So i got impatient and decided to do some alloy welding on the car with the tig, it turned out ok, better than i expected really given i have been practising alloy for not very long.

So new 30mm drop in the tank so lift pump never starves.

Decided to lift the taxi bar on the roll cage to better suit a harness, has been tacked in for awhile, but did the finish weld today, tig is so much easier in this situation, no splutter to burn the interior.

Also pulled out the old seats today, have velos but still need trim and mod plate, so will use these for now with a bit of paint.

I cut 20mm out of that alloy sump so it doesnt hang so low, started welding it together and the gas bottle ran out!! have only had it for 2 weeks definately a problem there. Took me long enough to work out what was going on.

On another note, bought some of those yellow jacket coils for the missus r34 about 4 months ago, cos it was missing a bit. Last week it started to properly run like a wrx again, it turns out one coilpack has died already. Quality yellowjacket.

  • 4 weeks later...

Got a bonnet release cable intended for an old valiant, was long enough to go hidden under the guard, also has a cool little round puller which is cool.

IMG_1210_zps92bdcbfa.jpg

Pulled the diff out to change pinion angle, was facing up a touch, cut a fair wedge out of the mount.

IMG_1208_zpsa502c12a.jpg

IMG_1209_zps49794293.jpg

painted under the floor and in the wheel arches with some flat black paint, no detail underneath, that would take me another five years...

tank back in and bolted down.

IMG_1215_zps66a097fc.jpg

Finally tracked down some tiny parts I have been looking for a long time, to think these cars were everywhere 10 years ago.

Wiper spacers, and wiper loom, loom now re-routed to be a bit less obvious.

Boot lock used to be on the bootlid, I deleted that and had a pretty crap cable setup previously.

Have now put the lock back in but on the car instead, inspired by my ke25.

Painted new welds on the cage, used a brush, 2 pack flattens pretty good though.

Seats in now too.

So I had to make a brake reservoir for this. When I got the plenum made I had the commodore reservoir sitting on there but nothing bolted up properly. Once bolted up it hit on the strut tower by at least 10mm, so I tried the old corolla one and it hit the plenum by a good 20mm. Dumb mistake.

So i sat on it for the past month deciding what to do, googled pbr master cyl and though maybe an r31 reserve may fit, but tracking one down without spending on something I'm not sure would fit proved difficult.

So I found some motivation this week and made one. Base is 8mm plate, the rest is 2mm sheetmetal, it uses the factory commodore cap.

lots of photos I know but this thing took me about 4 hrs.

In hindsight black silicone would have been nice, and silver fittings on the fuel rail too, but $$$ says not changing.
