supra2 Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 Finished the rust repairs. Only the sills to do. Still waiting on the new sill panels to show up. Quote
supra2 Posted February 14, 2013 Author Report Posted February 14, 2013 The standard x member is now replaced with a ra65 celica x member. Its got wider pick up points for the lower control arms and mounts for the steering rack conversion. A point of interest is both the corolla and celica use the same lower control arms. Just the mounts on the x member are different. Quote
supra2 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Report Posted February 15, 2013 One carbon fibre and kevlar sump guard. Thanks to Scottmotorsportz. Quote
radrollaz Posted February 15, 2013 Report Posted February 15, 2013 looking great mate, great fabrication skills really like your work and the fact your going totally left feild with IRS makes it even better. good pics too ! Quote
supra2 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Report Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks Mick, I really am enjoying this build more than others over the past years. Not being held back by too many rules and regs helps I think. Front suspension is a combo of Corolla and Celica. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 Coming together nicely :) Quote
supra2 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Report Posted February 16, 2013 Not sure what its called, but sealed up the vent holes under the dash. Quote
Ical Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 Very nice Craig, A sports sedan for the dirt....should be more of it.. Cheers Ian. Quote
supra2 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Report Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks Ian. Sport sedan for the dirt= Group B Rally. I guess thats what Amsag allows with out the space frame construction. Got it flipped up the right way again. Quote
supra2 Posted February 17, 2013 Author Report Posted February 17, 2013 Just made sure the tank still fits before final welding. Quote
Ical Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 Hey Craig, are you going to move the engine back.? Cheers Ian. Quote
supra2 Posted February 17, 2013 Author Report Posted February 17, 2013 Not as far back as I would like. One of the main regs for the 2wd rallymaster is no mods to the firewall. It will be as far back in the engine bay as I can get it, but its a big motor so the centre of the strut tops will cross somewhere between number 2 and 3 cylinder. Another subtle change ive made is to increase the wheel base by 20mm at the rear at ride height. Because trailing A arm suspension moves in the oppisite way to leaf springs, I can move the subframe back and still keep full travel in the wheel arch. It wont look odd because the flare position will hide the offset and keep the wheel looking right in the arch. Quote
supra2 Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 Next job is engine mounts, This can be a pain to get right as nothing looks as bad as an motor thats not in straight. Quote
