  2. I'm still in (and looks like the family doesn't WANT to come) YAY!! quiet time.... Lesley :P
  3. well, it's got one more cylinder than mine, 1 more gear than mine, AND 0.7lt's on my car (plus I scared myself when I looked at the speedo), I'm not ashamed :P plus it's 166kws at the wheels!!!
  4. what do you think?? http://www.carsales.com.au/new-cars-in-sto...matchallpartial 5 cyl, 2.5 lt turbo, 6 speed..... hmmmm I kinda like it, even though it is a ford.... Lesley :P
  5. I've done 83,000, bought it last year with under 50,000klm,s :P and with the new motor I've done just under 4,000 klms :hmm:
  6. Today I decided to clean the car, so I went down to the car wash place which also has a subway and is a petrol station (three birds with one stone!)... So I vacuumed the car (with the stereo blaring), then I drove it over to the car wash bays and washed it (still with stereo on), then drove it back over to the vacuum bays chamoised (that looks funny, sounds like shammeyed) the car, thought hey, while I'm at it, the exhaust is cold, so I polished that, then I polished the mags, because I was feeling enthusiastic (and I had funky music on) then I opened up my meguiars bag and saw there was window cleaner and interior cleaner in there so I thought, what the hell! and did that too.... So it took me about three and a half hours in total..but I had fun, so I went and got a drink and a roll, and went back to the car to go home.... click, click, click, click.... "oh crap", popped the bonnet checked leads, plugs, made sure no water got in there, checked the battery terminals, cleaned them off, thought, while I'm here, checked oil and water, all ok... back into the car, made sure turbo timer was off, try again, click, click, click, click.... "oh crap", shit, I flattened the battery....crap! Ring husband (who LAUGHED AT ME!! .... bastard) he said you're battery's flat ME: yes, I know...can you come down and jump start me or shall I call the RAA and get them to do it? HUSBAND: Call the RAA... ME: *thinking oh god I have to admit I did something stupid to someone else?!* couldn't I clutch start it?? HUSBAND: can you push it? ME: no.... HUSBAND: then call the RAA.... So walking back into the servo this man walks up to me and said "are you ok, you've been here for hours, I saw you meticulously cleaning your car, but I thought you'd be gone by now" so I told him I had my radio on the whole time and that I'd flattened the battery and I was going to call the RAA to get a jump start... NICE MAN: would you like me to have a look for you?? ME: uh, well ok, but I don't think there's much you can do, the battery's flat NICE MAN: can you pop the bonnet... *SHIT this is a TURBO?" ME: yep NICE MAN: "is that what the sportivo stands for? so we talked about the car and he said, I can jump start you but I don't like doing it with these newer cars, especially yours... ME: So do you think if you pushed it could I clutch start it? NICE MAN: hmmmm *looks around the car park* ok, this is what we'll do, starts talking about gradients blah blah blah.... he gave me a push, and SHE STARTED :P So I finally get home, had my hands full of subway so I rang the door bell and husband kills himself laughing and said "so, she's all show and no go huh" So I punched him.... Lesley
  7. HEY! ^^ this is actually a bit of a sick funny story.... When I got married, someone gave us an AWFUL plate/platter thing that I hated. So come christmas year before last, I gave it to my MIL's (mother in law) boyfriend (who we all think is a tosser) thinking he wouldn't be around long enough....well he's still around, and he gave me the plate back for my birthday..... LMAO so I gave it to my girlfriend to smash but she liked it :P So it has a new home.... Re: my parents, I think they went away, but I'm too stubborn to call them and tell them they forgot my birthday....but my Dad know's I'm car crazy (they got me an AWESOME Maguires pack for christmas) I talk mechanicals with him, and he get's excited for me when I do mods, win car shows *lol*, he taught me to drive, taught me to service my first car and generally gave me the bug about cars....my mother has no clue (she has early onset dementia and forgets everything I tell her) but she makes enthusiastic sounds when I'm talking to Dad about cars.... Lesley

  11. ahhh reading back my post.. I thought, OMG I'm SUCH an ungrateful bitch. so I thought, I'd ebay everything and complain alot pressure hubby into giving me money and quietly going out and just organising everything.... *nods* yep, that I shall do, it'll probably take me about 3 months, but it's something to work to... Lesley :P
  12. ^^^^ you'd think so wouldn't you! but no... It's official... my family sucks! After forgoing a christmas present to get mags and polishing for a COMBINED christmas/birthday present, I've been not even been quietly hinting, I've been saying "I want money for the mags and polishing fund so don't buy me any presents, give me money" I still don't have either. My parents haven't spoken to me yet, my HUSBAND bought me some diamond earrings, my youngest daughter bought me some perfume, my mother in law bought me some skin care stuff, three of my friends bought me skin care stuff.. The ONLY person who listened was my 16 yr old daughter, she said "daddy I need $100 for Lesley's present" he gave it to her and she put it in a card for me. So now I have a whoppig $100 towards my tyres and mags and a shit load of freaking body products that I don't even want! I SWEAR my family are complete retards...I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything, but I TOLD them EXACTLY what I wanted and they didn't listen!!!! AARRGGHHHH!!!! I've decided they can live on baked beans, sausages and bread and water, I'll keep the grocery budget and they can suffer for the next 6 months! end of rant... Lesley :P
  13. I used to get totally ripped when I took my "laser" in for servicing, I took my box of parts (which I always did), because even back then I was picky... In my box I had NGK pplugs, AGIP synthetic oil, ryco filters and I can't remember the spark plug leads, but they were special and asked for them to use those parts in my car, and I'd expected only to pay for labour. I changed mechanics and took in my box of parts, and when I picked the car up he said to me "do you always supply the parts?" me: "yes, I'm a little particular and it's easier supplying what I want rather than the workshop having to source them". He said oh, ok and showed me some crap champion plugs and said "I took these out of your car". I was FLABBERGASTED! The other workshop was keeping my parts and putting in crap! From that day forward I used that mechanic, until he moved from SA to ararrat (in VIC). By the time he moved we were really close friends, so every three months I'd drive over to Vic for him to do my car :) When I got busy and couldn't do the trip, I changed over to Adelaide Hills Toyota who I've been pretty happy with (with only 2 exceptions). If you find a good mechanic, stick with them :yak:
  14. do we know which movies are on??? (I'm too lazy to look it up) :)
  15. thank you :) Yep I'm on the upward climb of the hill :yak: The view isn't too bad!!! LOL Lesley :D
  16. which class do you run in? We were going to put the 2 in the Classic Adelaide but the 5 grand was just too much for us....
  17. ok, I'm adding to my list.... a 2GR-FE - supercharged 3.5l V6 by TRD :) Lesley :yak: PS: Posman I KNOW! I actually had a good look when I parked the car and checked all over the seat to see if I'd forgotten where it was exactly and there wasn't even one there!!! LOL!
  18. I didn't even know it existed!! http://www.toyota.com.au/TRD/#main/vehicles/mims I so want one!!! - 2GR-FE - although having said that, I don't want it in the aurion! :) Lesley :yak:
  19. oh, yeah, to go with my lumbar support I'd like a LSD :) Lesley :yak:
  20. so I was driving along yesterday and my back started to ache and I reached down the side of the seat to adjust the lumbar support and realised my car doesn't have one! shock horror... It got me to thinking, what things would you add to your car *wish list* stuff??? ie. little luxuries for me, its the lumbar support!!!! Lesley :)

  23. I almost had a heart attack when you posted the date...thank goodness it's not the clipsal weekend, I'm tyring to get to clipsal (cause I LOVE it) but then I have a wedding to go to (can't believe they picked clipsal weekend to get married).... So *BIG* sigh of relief..... Lesley :lolcry:
  24. heya! When I had my engine re-done my mechanic basically told me to drive it like I usually would and give it a hammer.... *I am a lead foot, and pretty much drive my car like a maniac* :lolcry: He said the reasons for this were to get the rings to seat properly, and by driving in such a matter (although continuing to vary the rev's and if you're going for instance on the freeway, to change from 4th to 5th and chaning the RPMS. There was a thread with a link about running in (with links) some where in the forum.... Lesley :lolcry:
