  1. and thirdly, I AM a poser and I like the pssshhhttt and suprising people that my car is a turbo :hmm: LOL Lesley :)
  2. ummm I have :hmm: I didn't get pulled over (they had their windows down too!). Zoom Zoom Pssshhhttt!!! Lesley :)
  3. well, after the car being in at Toyota since Friday before last (8 days) I got a call today (actually I've been badgering them for the last couple of days because my Service guy went on holidays - he told me but I'd forgotten and he'd usually call me to let me know what's going on) ANYHOO got a call today at 5.20pm to say my car was almost ready - I can pick it up tomorrow!!! YIPPEE!!! :hmm: So, this time, I got a NEW turbo, but they also said that when the car was modified (before I got it) that whoever had done it had bodged up the hosing. It used to go from the engine, straight into the turbo, through the turbo and into the exhaust and that's why I was getting the smoke. So, the car's been to a Turbo specialist who's re-plumbed (is that right??) put the hoses where they're supposed to be and now she's running sweet!!! So, tomorrow I get my car back Zoom Zoom Psshhhttt!! Lesley :)
  4. man! that's enough to give you a heart attack! Lesley ;)
  5. that really interesting....I was speaking to the part's guy at Toyota and he said that I would notice a difference in performance straight away (because it's a new engine) but that it would really, really be noticable after I've done 5000klms.... Oh, and it's a brand spanking new engine ;) I think some research is in order Lesley :D
  6. I do click on View New Posts and I have to agree with you Teddy, I don't have a lot of time so I "skim" on topics that don't grab my attention. Lesley ;)
  7. ummm well no, they put new oil in when they put the engine together and they told me to come back in 1000klms for my first service....is that not the done thing??
  8. If I was paying for it I would have done things differently, but as it's being done under warranty it's being done "stock" for my car, so I get the stock turbo, the stock engine (I would have re-bored and put in oversized pistons and a bigger turbo on!!). All my work is being done through Toyota as it's still under warranty and I don't want to void it (they even installed my turbo timer!!). Lesley
  9. no turbo wasn't included in the first round of repairs, the engine was replaced (becuase of piston slap, excessive oil usage and number 4 piston being completely shagged!). They inspected the turbo and it looked fine and decided to save me $600 having it rebuilt because they couldn't conclusively say that the turbo was faulty, but at 400klms I had a cloud of smoke and there was a fair amount of oil (which they suspect was leaking through the turbo and out of the BOV) so now it's conclusive they're replacing it. What annoys me a little bit is that if I had have paid the $600 and the turbo WAS faulty they would have reimbursed me the money spent for investigation. Lesley
  10. Oh, and I'm an idiot.... I should have done the piping and anodising whilst the car was dismantled, becuase now I have to take it apart to do the full upgrade, so I'm debating whether or not to do it now.... Lesley
  11. OK, well after much driving, I finally hit well 870klm's I prebooked my car in for it's 1000klm service and spent a day home when I should have been out driving but put it in for it's service anyway, with mention about some minor issues (which I thought were minor).... I got a call on Friday afternoon and they told me that my Turbo was shagged and that they would be replacing it under warranty and they'd like the car for at least a week (possibly a week and a half) because of the Melbourne Cup and parts not arriving until Thursday. So, I don't have my car for the time being.... AARRGGGHHH!!!! Lesley ;)
  12. sorry to hear about your accident, as everyone's said, at least your OK
  13. I must also apologise, I was planning to go, my car went in for it's 1000klm service on Friday and the turbo is shagged so I'm without it for another couple of weeks ;) Lesley
  14. hmmm I went looking, but couldn't find ANYONE!! Currie Street... ohhhh was that when I was playing with the white pulsar and the other white thing??? Washed the car too! Saw a Red KE55?? with white rims hooning down south road/port road (sounded good btw). LOL I lined up with someone in a Ford Capri (their engine sounded like this broo-cough-cough-ahem) I had a giggle and blitzed them, I mean really! Gotta tell you I'm loving my new engine :) it just wants to FLY! it has lift when you put the boot in, if you're on say 60 and want to increase your speed to 80, it does it beautifully :) Lesley :)
  15. I went with an after market heavy duty clutch. It's quite light and I'm still getting used to it. But at least I have my car back :) Lesley
  16. Gotta love the FORD escorts, I almost had one for my first car, but my Dad decided the Corolla was better value, HOWEVER I wanted the RS2000!!!! but came home with a Rolla :) Lesley
  17. It actually looks pretty much the same, but a smidgey bit cleaner! My BOV works properly now, LOL zoom to 2000rpm and pssshhhttt! Running it in is interesting though, I'm varying my speeds and my revs but I'm really noticing that it's hard to constantly change, I'm always on 2500 or 3800 or 4200 so if you're behind me, expect fluctuating speeds!! My next plan to be put into action (tomorrow actually) is to get a new BOV, one that is one way because the one I have in the car (according to toyota).... "when you get to a certain constant cruising speed the turbo disengages, thereby making your BOV sort of like a vacuum and unfiltered air goes back into the system" it's the "unfiltered air" part that's worrying me. I think that's the gist of it. I'm also going to chrome up the piping, and put anodised fittings on the hoses and put that braided coloured hosing in *gotta hate that discription!!!* (leaving to find a picture) .... Lesley :)
  18. :) 8/ :P I GOT MY CAR BACK TODAY!!!!! Total Retail cost, close to $13,000 my cost $901.00 Gotta love toyota extra care warranty! And oh boy does she go!!! I'm in heaven, I'm back in my rolla and so very, very pleased!!!! Lesley :P
  19. I'll be there with bells on .... I GOT MY CAR BACK TODAY!!! So, obvious question, who's up for a cruise TOMORROW (SAT) night?? I'll be at freedom at say 9.00pm??? Lesley :) YAY FOR ME
  20. Congratulations on getting your P's. Lesley :)
  21. OR you can go to somewhere like EMTECH (in SA) who have those sorts of things for sale :)
  22. Uppity? I wasn't uppity, I was sharing my opinion, just as you did yours irokin, if you feel passionately about something why shouldn't you voice it? Your points are all valid, but when you get penalised for something that really isn't your fault, it's not FAIR. Yes bad/unfair/unfortunate things happen in one's life and in the overall scheme of things, perhaps they're not THAT bad but it makes you feel better to vent, share and guage other's opinions, to gain advice, or just to get validation that you're in the right. If something upsets me, I share it with friends or people on sites like this one. One to vent, and two to see whether I'm over-reacting. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I respect your's, I don't agree with it, but I still respect it. Lesley :)
  23. Thank you!!! I'll pass the info on and have it booked in next week!!! Lesley :)
  24. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and cool cake!!!! Lesley :)
  25. I'm sorry guys but you're giving shit undeservedly (if that is a word!) I believe it is a privelidge to have a licence HOWEVER why should you cop crap because some other dickhead is tailgating you. If you tap the brakes to let him know you're slowing down and pulling over and he hits you because he wasn't paying attention, he's liable and you've been in an accident. If you tap the breaks, it usually just pisses them off more. If you pull over, then you have to wait for the next break in traffic, whose inconvenienced? The person being tailgated! Now how many times have you been stuck behind an oldie who's doing 40 in a 60 zone, and be pissed off by them?? Have you tailgated them and thus broken the law? If the instructor wasn't happy with the whole package then surely he should have made it clear what he wasn't happy with instead of basing it on one rather dubious reason. If someone is tailgating you, THEY are at fault, if you are tailgating someone, YOU are at fault. AND FURTHERMORE, you were driving in a vehicle which I assume was quite clearly marked as a learner driven vehicle and the tailgater apart from being a complete dickhead was inconsiderate AND breaking the LAW. SO WHY should Chet be held responsible???? Lesley and my 2c worth.
