oh, they also discovered that my exhaust manifold had a couple of cracks in it and they're going to replace that too. I asked them to replace the timing belt whilst everything was pulled off and they're going to send the turbo off for testing and if it's faulty they said they'll replace that too. Golly! I have no idea why they're doing all this for me (I expected there to be a cap of some sort, like we'll pay up to $5K then you're responsible), but I'm so glad, thankful, grateful I'm almost prompted to write a letter :jamie: Lesley :P

well I'm just a poser then, I LOVED the big pssshhhhttt when my piping fell off my turbo :( LOL! After it was fixed I had to take it to 5.5 rpm to get that noise and decided I wasn't pushing my car that hard anymore so I never get to hear it :abuse: And I do have a turbo timer, because I was terrified of blowing up my turbo and having to remember to cool it down, I drive moderately hard and I wanted my car to be safe. After all the research I did all I had to do was make sure my car cooled down, but I didn't trust myself to do that, hence the turbo timer! The things we do huh! Lesley :)

Ok, everyone would know by my previous posts that I've had a fair bit of mechanical trouble with my pride and joy. Well finally I cracked the sh*ts, requested that a mechanic come for a drive and listen to my car and the results are as follows: On an oil consumption test over 1000 klms, my car used 1.6lt of oil. Yep, one point six litres! The noise that they heard was piston slap The compression test they did showed that cyl number 4 was the problem. They did wet and dry testing (still not sure what that is) and it was bad They took the head off and there was damage in cyl number 4 (as was expected). So, they have the car for a month, and I'm getting a new engine. Cost: zilch! :( It's covered under the Toyota Extra Care warranty program I just LOVE Toyota :) How lucky am I?! VERY! I'll have the car back by November :abuse:

I still can't believe it....he died doing what he loved. The scary thing is that he said that he hadn't had a lot of exprience driving in the Daytona Coupe (the car he was driving when he died) that the back end flew out constantly and that they were changing the setup so it was a stiffer, less sliding ride. With all his experience, it still got away from him. RIP Brockey

that actually hasn't got anything to do with rugby, it's the New Zealanders "Haka" the traditional dance of the maori people. http://www.newzealand.com/travel/about-nz/...eature/haka.cfm It's sort of instead of the national anthem for NZ. Cool huh! Lesley :P avid rugby fan :y:

Equatorial Sun Damage; I.e. Bad Sunburn!!!!
SoulSearcher replied to mikeys toy's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
ouch!!! sunburn is bad - especially on your honeymoon... We went to Thailand for 6 weeks and whilst in phuket Steve got badly burnt on his legs, so bad he swelled up, we got a spray on anesthetic which helped with the pain, but he couldn't wear shoes or thongs....we were walking through bangkok airport on an international flight and were spoken to by a number of officials (with guns) about no shoes, when he showed them the rest of his legs they pittied us and let him on with out shoes! bugger, I would have liked to have gone on that one.... :) How was it??

ahh well, it was actually a little more severe that I thought. The piping had come off the turbo completely and it was sucking in unfiltered air. They consulted four *four* "turbo specialists" and because of a previous set up (piping blocked off, and some other things) i they took it back to factory standard. Now I only get a really quiet "psshht" at 5000 rpms. I don't like it though.... it's going back in in a couple of weeks for a re-tune and I'm taking it to fours and more for some engine *tweaking* Lesley

Fours and More are REALLY good, but they're more into performance, and they have a waiting list, but when I went in there (I'm a chick) they explained everything REALLY, REALLY well. They're over kind of salisbury way. I'm currently using Toyota, mainly because my car is still under warranty, but our MR2 goes to a mechanic in the Adelaide Hills (Bridgewater) and he is FABULOUS. If you want details please let me know. Lesley

couldn't you re-map the ECU???

About 2 years ago we just got our MR2, I wasn't able to drive it for 2 months because insurance wouldn't cover me until I turned 30. So my Birthday arrived and I was finally allowed to drive the MR2 :jamie: It was a beautiful Saturday morning. I decided to go shopping and then do some cruising. I was going down the freeway at 100klms/h (the speed limit) and I was overtaking slow moving traffic. A guy in a black Audi came barrelling up behind me and starts flashing his high beams...I put my hand up (as if to say wait a minute, I'm still overtaking) and made sure I was a correct distance in front of the car I was over taking. Remember, this was the first time I'd driven the car. The guy in the Audi was behind me waving his hands in the air (the get the F*ck out of the way kind)..The mirrors were the *objects are closer than they appear* so I was super careful to make sure there was enough distance before I pulled in. I pulled into the middle lane and the guy in the Audi went screaming past then pulled into the middle lane and locked it up. I freaked out and pulled back into the outside lane to miss him. He sped up, pulled into the outside lane and again locked it up. I was terrified I was going to have an accident, so I pulled into the middle lane and thought, bugger this, and slowed down to 80. What did the Audi do? Went back into the middle lane and locks it up in front of me. I thought *what a wanker* and went to the outside lane thinking I'd blast past him, well I came level with him and he starts speeding up, then he tries to swerve into me (twice). I locked it up, then went WAY over to the left hand emergency stopping lane and stopped. The entire time this happened, I forgot to get his number plate. I sat on the side of the road shaking like a leaf. I thought I've gotta report this so I drove straight to the police station in the city. I went in there, and a policeman asked if he could help me *and I did the girly thing* I burst into tears....I recounted what happened and he said he'd put an all points bulletin out on it. I knew the model and approx year model of the car, gave a description of the driver etc., etc., but couldn't give him the registration. *doh* Later that day whilst cruising I saw *four* yes, *four* black Audi's being pulled over by the cops, none of them was the one that was involved. To this day, I get nervous if I'm overtaking and a car comes up behind me. Lesley
