  1. Well... About time for an update! Things have been coming together... the car is getting done along with house renos and finishing the shed... all of this has to be done before march when the bub comes and the cars got to be done for the Ocean Road trip in Jan... Bugger! After having enough of the comments about the cream engine bay I decided to do something about it. I didnt want to paint it white so I decided to go against everything I would usually do and paint it black. Came up a treat for a rush job and looks great now the engines back in. The engines had a gasket kit put through it and hopefully its not going to leak... but I bet it will... then it got a coat of charcoal grey, contrasts with the black really well and makes the clean alloy head and blower really stand out. It was supposed to be running this weekend but I ran out of time with other things to do today. another couple oh hours to finish locking and reassembling the dissy, wire the dizzy in and fill her up with oil and water then its fire up time. I should probably hook up the exhaust too! Will let the pics do the work.
  2. Random for sure! Sam Q is a pretty regular member round here Roosa, never heard of him?! Used to run SQ engineering as well. House hunting... Don't miss those days!
  3. The basics are all in the entry form, the rest is pretty much common sense for a long drive and camping overnight. Good point though. I will cut and past the basic form here but you will still need to fill out the emailed form to send back to us. It should come up in a word doc for you to fill out. save and email back or print fill out and post. Will have an attendees list up this weekend as well. JP
  4. 4/71 would look great... But an sc12-14 would out perform it due to the mechanical power losses you will get. It's just too big. You mght get away with an m90 or m45 blower if you wanted something big. Just about to bolt an sc14 to my 5k for some fun. JP
  5. The 70 upgrade is quite easy actually. Find yourself some ke3x - 55 backing plates and use them with the 70 calipers. If you already have disks you then use the existing hub setup on the 20 struts and bolt the disk on in place of your 20 disks. Brake lines should be sweet as well. Pretty simple stuff and it's the biggest cheap bolt on upgrade you can get for the earlies. JP
  6. Don't worry Poz, I'm in the same boat... But I have got a shed full of car parts that need to become a car and then I have to sort out rego and get it tuned etc. Will be running this weekend, that's a big milestone! Keep the emails coming people, need this paperwork/deposits back asap! Jarrad
  7. You should get bored more often Poz! So many things would just happen :P
  8. Hello again everyone :D Just a quick note to let you all know you should have a pm from me if you have shown intrest in this cruise, some of you already have entry forms so you will not have recieved a pm. Hope that makes sense! Now get the entry form sorted and let's get cruising! If you did not recieve a pm and want to come check out the info thread for details/instructions and go from there. Things are speeding up. Not long now! Thanks to all that have already deposited! JP
  9. Easy... add friends to your entry form and thats that. Ok, due to a slight technical issue... I need all interested people to email Mel at [email protected] to get an entry form. This must be completed and emailed or posted back by the 17th of december along with the deposit. If I can figure out why I can't attatch word docs I will upload the entry form for everyone to download but for now, please email Mel and get the form sorted. Cheers, Jarrad.
  10. Hello everyone! So I finally got around to posting this up, Mel has given it a complete makeover and now its ready to go. I must stress the point that deposits are needed asap... unless you have contacted me beforehand to arange something else the cutoff date will be the 17th of December 2010. This will cover the cost of the shirts as they will have to be payed in full this trip beforehand and it will cover the deposit for the camping grounds. Click the link, fill out the form, email it to myself or Mel (emails in the link) or print it off and post it to my address (also in the link). If you have ANYTHING you need to ask, please don't hesitate to call me, text me, PM me or send smoke signals... Get hold of me somehow and have a chat. Edit: Ok, so the word doc wont upload... I will see what I can do... The route and first meet points for the VIC crew are in the attatched doco, as for the SA crew get hold of Raven and give him the 20 questions. Cheers, Jarrad.
  11. Shame you can't make it Adam, I'm not even going to say do a day trip, I know how testing moving house can be! Cressida power it is Joel! Nothing wrong with that, especially with that grouse turbo spool! I'm busting my arse doing house reno's, finishing the shed, getting the babys room ready and going nuts on my Rolla for the trip! Will have it running with the blown 5k this weekend. Ok, this put me back on the info thread so I will have to put it up tomorrow... The laptops at the mrs work, bugger typing that up on my phone! Jarrad
  12. Seriously wanting to delete all this sigma talk! :P
  13. Cool, will tick you off on the list. I will be organising a GOR meeting/Christmas party in the coming weeks, maybe a BBQ way out west at my place combined with a ke10 working bee! This will give another way to pay deposits other than bank transfer. JP
  14. Ooh.... A new one to the list. Your number 50 :) Will be posting the info thread this weekend, bookings are confirmed with final numbers upon arrival. Once the tshirt place gets back to be I will have final costs. Will let you allknow asap. I also need a $20 deposit from everyone shortly. This will cover the camp site costs and initial shirt costs. Keep your eyes peeled for the info thread. Jarrad
  15. Good stuff! Not like you've got any cool cars anyway... :P Just a note, I will be writing up an info thread asap. I need to know who is coming by the 3rd of December so I can finalize our accom booking. We are booked in in Apollo bay but if we have the whole 50 people on the list turn up we will need more sites! If you haven't heard from me in the next couple of days and want to come, pm me or call/text 0400843198. I will be sending a group pm asap as well. JP
  16. Soo who didn't get a text from me that wants to come??? And who hasn't replied yet?!
  17. Should be some interest in this, pretty much an inland version of the great ocean road trip. Should be good. Jarrad
  18. Johno, not late at all this year! In fact more final info will be up soon including price, location etc. Check back soon! JP
  19. A good mate of mine has a few crowns, two of which run 5me's. To give you an idea of how unkillable they are he ran his last m powered crown (he just stepped into a 1uz powered one) with a blown headgastket for the best part of 170000km! The things done over 450000k's and he's only stopped driving it because he was sick of filling it up with water all the time. If its done a HG don't bother with an aftermarket one, go for a genuine one and it will last. Treat is well and it will never die. JP
  20. Thanks Dave... Or is that Adam??? ;) I should be attending this one, a little closer for me! Will bring the wags out for a cruise as I'm not finished screwing the rollas engine together. Jarrad
  21. Sounds like it was a great cruise, not sure why more rc members didn't get on bored like last time?! I'm looking forward to getting to one next year in the blown rolla! Can't wait! JP
  22. Just thought I would say the disable mobile site buttons been on the blink for a while, I can see why people want the mobile site gone! I'm getting used to it on iPhone but it was good to be able to click and go go to the normal site when needed. JP
  23. Your right Taz, my mistake! Getting my wires crossed again! Mad, If your looking into prices locally be prepared for a shock! I would give summit or jegs in the states a try, summit are very good to deal with from overseas locations as well. And if you go the 6al-2 don't forget it has to be the programable version, otherwise its just like the normal 6al but digital over analogue. Like this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6530/ Or the btm http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6462/ Edit: Sorry if I'm getting carried away over the over the top pricing over here! Just has a look at what the 6530 6al-2 programables worth in aus... $720! Yeah right! JP
  24. Just posted in your other thread and realised what car it was! Looking at your fuel pressure reg I can't see a boost reference line running to it? Is this right? That could explain why you may be running out of fuel on boost. Tge boost pressure could be stopping the fuel from entering the carb basically. And as Taz said, you need some sort of boost retard function. Locking the dizzy sights can work to some degree, it's as simple as wiring/welding your bob wieghts in the dizzy together to stop the mechanical advance, you should be able to keep your vac advance for off boost cruising though. Your best bet would be to spend a few hundred on an msd 6BTM, with the dollar so good look stateside for the cheapest prices. With the btm you can lock your dizzy at say 30deg initial and as boost comes on it will knock the timing back for you up to 3deg per psi of boost. Actually, if your going to spend any money on an msd god a 6al-2 programmable and buy a 2-3bar map sensor to suit. It's a fully laptop programmable version that allows you to have a separate boost retard map etc. And it's cheaper than the btm and 300 times better! JP
  25. Get a gauge for sure. Is the reg a carbie style reg of efi? If it's an efi reg you wont get the base pressure low enough for the carb and you will be running the full pressure the pump can supply all the time. For instance, holleys run a base pressure of 7psi and dcoe style webers run about 3-4psi before they get upset. Your base fuel pressure should always be the same amount plus your boost pressure. So if you have 7psi base pressure plus 10psi boost your purl pressure should raise to 17psi. Ok, enough rambling. Throw some pics up of the setup so we can get a better idea of what's going on. JP
