  1. If it's just yourself I might be available. Japanese ae86 4Age smallport with 272cams, sounds pretty damn good and always get compliments. Check out my profile here and my build thread on ae86dc. Pm sent too.
  2. Can do, I am about to make one from my girlfriends KE70. The only hard part is making the little metal clip that holds it in place, which is easy!
  3. Check you TPS too, lots of people overlook it but it can really affect the motors overall performance.
  4. I haven't seen black fittings in a car before, only red and blue, the set up looks very professional/neat.
  5. Ah those 5 cyl Volvo motors are unreal. Dad had an S40 so I got to drive it quite a bit, so much torque! It would chirp to third easily, was always good fun at the lights with Commodores. The gearbox was fantastic, second best feeling gear changes only to a 911. I've started goggling already haha.
  6. Haha, this is my photo/setup, works fine since the rebuild. Just cut off the tab where it bolts to the block.
  7. Has this got a smallport 4AGE in it? Looks in pretty good nick! I'd hold up on the swaybars though, if you are going for new wheels and tyres get used to them and the change they make.
  8. There was one floating around on AE86DC, maybe just search in the for sale thread.
  9. Man that's a long list! Good job on killing so many 4A's too, 15.1 sounds pretty good, I've only managed 15.6 with a leaky smallport and stuffed exhaust. It's been rebuilt since with TRD 272's so fingers crossed.
  10. Pretty similar, just as long as you're using an AE** cross member.
  11. I was lucky enough to buy a pair of TRD 272, 7.5mm. They don't require a shim and bucket change and can be run on stock springs. Secondhand is always a gamble but turned out to be fine. There are heaps of manufacturers, if you change springs you could get a set with some higher lift.
  12. No idea, I can only go by what car I've beaten or stayed with, all performed legally of course. Prior to cams I've stayed with Integra type r's, pulled away from a bigport AE86 with huge cams and a Sportivo Corolla and have been reasonably close to Matt's (littleredspirit) silvertop, a result I can only attribute to a lightened flywheel. Since cam's, nothing tested as yet! Too poor for a test and tune which will be the answer I think. Or free dyno time!
  13. All comments are valued, I wish Insurance wasn't so hard to find... Anyone have tips when dealing with Shannons?
  14. It was an insurance job. When I first walked in I was told it was a write off, when I told them the car was covered for $10k they didn't seem impressed. They had the car for 5 months and I sourced everything they needed, apart from paint. I got the rear bar done as well, so I paid for that (which was nice for 6mths until some dickhead side swiped me) plus the premium. My insurer assured me that they were reputable which I'm sure they were, every other car there was well looked after, paper mats etc except mine, "just a Corolla". I'm pretty quiet spoken really but I did give them and this English bloke a real mouth full a few times, he didn't appreciate that but it was his own fault. I had to go back after I got the car and gave them plenty of lip and by that time I had started law at uni which was a help! It's something you have to move on with though and when things need to be done properly you either do it yourself or grab a chair and an esky and guide them through it. Since then I've met some good people in the automotive industry and will stick by them.
  15. Sounds like it. I've seen heaps of KE70's lately, most of them around the western suburbs.
  16. Yeah, over spray everywhere, finally refinishing the window trims now. No offence but that was the worst job I've ever seen on my cars or my friends. The underside of the bonnet wasn't painted, the RHF guard was left split and unfinished, the mouldings all lifted, whole front end was just slapped together, the list goes on!
  17. That's what I run in my "daily". You'll get the hang of them, just like new tyres or any other upgrade. They're the max you can go for sensibility on the stock ecu, really they need a programmable ecu but you can get away with it. Later down the track you can put one in and reap the benefits that have been unlocked. People will whinge at you either way so just do what you want to do and take our advice as info and not gospel.
  18. Awesome! The only pictures I could find on google when I was buying them, were 13x9, maybe slightly bigger! Cool little rim either way. Do you have the centre caps for them?
  19. Yes mate, JDM bigport loom and ecu. I'm sure that they'd run on other 4A ecu's, bigport or smallport.
  20. I'm running Federal 595's, 205/60r13. So much grip and corner handling!
  21. I've got whitline uppers, no problems. Terry, elaborate on your arms!
  22. Done many times, I think the only trick is to use a head gasket that matches the head. Hit up SamQ.
  23. I've got TRD 272's in my small port. Good difference from stock small port to big port cams and crazy difference to the 272's! Lumpy and hard to idle but you learn how to keep it from stalling and adjust idle carefully.
