  1. Was just about to say that! :P
  2. Yep motors are the same for each. beaten to it. :)
  3. Totally agree!!! :) Welcome to rollaclub BTW Jack. Really doesn't cost much to rebiuld a k motor if you have a dad/uncle/mate etc handy with the spanners.
  4. Carby or EFI? It really depends on how far you wanna go. I was originally running boost for around $400......and don't wanna know what I've spend now! :) Reckon I could have done the EFI conversion for half the cost it I didn't try and make everthing look good. I would have spent over $500 on speedflow fitting and hoses FFS, but they now make working on the car a absolute delight!! :(
  5. Was talking to Falken_ke30 about this yesterday. We put another carby on his 4k and made some gaskets for each side of the spacer/vacuum plate. Used some grease on these, which probably wasn't required but hey we know its sealed now. Goop really would have been a bit of an over-kill for this, would have been messier, and you need to make sure its fuel safe goop. I suppose thats what I really use it for - Piece of mind when goop is over-kill. :( Example: In the fitting instuctions for any K&N filter thay say to seal all of the rubber edges of the filter with grease. I probably wouldn't use it for a diff seal only cause I hate oil leaks with a passion now. If its a banjo then there is just to much work involved just the fix a seal (removing axles again). ...and another thing - an open tube of grease doesn't go hard like goop! :) so you know you've always got some thats usable! :bash:

KP61 regularly has some awesome big dish/big - offset wheels for sale. Enkeis, toms TRD's, Panasports etc etc etc. I'd love to go over there and fill a shipping container with some and bring them back. They also have a lot of genuine TRD stuff (manily for K motors) like valve springs, cams, seats, starlet body kits and more. I'll go have a browse and post a couple of pics of intersting for sale items. :) Edit: Compomotive 13x8.25/13x8.5.... Genuine TRD 13x8's... Genuine TRD N2 body kit.... Genuine TRD bucket seat... TOMS Wheels.... Rare TOMS "Cyborg" - IIRC bucket seat.... TRD aftermarket crown wheel and pinion..... ....and was ALL just on the first page of classifieds!!!!! :(
  7. Everybody sort of under estimates grease these days with so many variants of gasket goop about. I find for little jobs like this its just a lot easier to work with than goop. No it doesn't melt, unless under very high heat and its also not effected by fuel like some goop is!
  8. INCORRECT. The old head (3kbp included) had the old valve stem seals that were just an o-ring around the very top of the valve. later 3k and 4k ones had the stem seal on top of the stem. You can swap the rocker gear between the 2 different type of stem seal heads without having to also swap the stems/seals them selves. :)
  9. Do you know what a capacitor does?
  10. Just build your own Jason!! :) Thats basically my new project, except I'm using a LWB Suzuki Sierra and a KE36. :(
  11. :) as both have the same size bore it doesn't really matter if you use a 3k or 4k HG. You'll also need to use the 4k pushrods or the 3k ones will pull up about 10mm or so too short. To make the most of the raised compression you really want to do the usual mild mods too: Carby, cam, exhaust etc.
  12. What panel beaters was that.............. so I can tell everbody not to both taking there cars to the LAZY BASTARDS!!!!! If machg can bring that thing of his back from the grave, I'm sure a "decent" panle beater can fix a copy of rusty guards!!! :)
  13. +1 for not the correct bolts. They look like 14mm's? and K FW bolts are 17mm. I've got a few sets (beit used) of genuine FW bolts for a K if you want some Philbey? FYI I had a hell of a time getting some ARP head studs. Ended up coming from the states, via NZ!!!
  14. Does the "big sound system" (guessing this includes a sub) have a capacitor? Guages pull bugger all power.
  15. Just use some grease!!! :) It'll seal it up like gasket goop, make less of a mess and make removing it again easier.
  16. Middle and right are both "celica boxes" - TA22 and RA40. Have a look at your bell housing ribs and tell us what you have. :)
  17. hahaha it doesn't come out of the murry somewhere does it? .....one more benefit of living in tassie!! :)
  18. Yes you're right leigh, but a 5k normally has dished pistons. Because he's got flat tops, compression would be about the same as a 4k. :P What ever you do (as has been said) don't take the side drafts off!!! :jamie: The motor sounds like it'd need a bit of fuel with the work its got done to it. Just take it to the carby speacialist and get him to re-jet and tune them for you and you'll be set. Does your gearbox look like the one on the left or the middle below?

As far as I'm concerned, there is 3x websites worth looking at for good K info: here, Club-k, and http://www.kp61.net/ which is a US Starlet forum. Have to sign up to view, but free and worth it. :jamie:
  20. hahaha how much pre planning did the all 2's one take!?
  21. Mate you don't need to try and lecture me on gearboxes. I own most of the gearboxs/bellhousing in the FAQ. As I said... "As the story goes" .....meaning as you hear on the grape vine. But in a full paragraph you haven't really persuaded me to believe otherwise! And ofcourse they'd have to list them as "standard fitment" if they put them in the bloody cars!
  22. Paid $250 for the EFI system, had to get bigger injectors, ECU, fuel fitting etc etc. Then tuning as well. Do yourself a favour mate and go and get some correct size auto hose and piss off the garden hose. It'll get hot and crack or melt. Bad idea.
  23. The plan is to do a weekend working bee with a few people, couple of welders, grinders etc etc. Also planning on building a 3m cubed "tri truss" structure sort of like this one below (I hire/build these), that we can hang the wagon body from on some chain block and push the chassis in and out from underneith it. Have a team starting at the back and one from the front, and hopefully by the time the weekend is over they've met in the middle. :jamie:
  24. Small update for Mud: Now that Tar is "finished" I keen as to start on this conversion. Have looked at 2 LWB sierra's in the last week. One was last night, was a very old one with no rego, rusted out body etc, but came with heaps of spares: Both diffs, transfer case, GB and more. And was like $350-$400 but somebody is supposed to be picking it up on Saturday, sellers is going to call me Sunday morning if it doesn't go. Other one is a private sale by a family freind. Much later (83 I think) model, good body & tray, rego till June next year!! Considering its good condition I reckon I'll take it for $1500! :P Probably drive it as is for the summer (might also fit the 7k and W50 in it) for camping/fishing trips etc, then kick the body off it in autumn next year. Good thing about the sierra being registered is I'll also be looking at rego'ing it as a 'Re-bodied Sierra' rather than a 4x4 converted ke36. With hopefully have pics of either one in my backyard in the next week or two. :jamie:
