  1. Forget 12a's, they're too hard to find parts for now. Mazda has stopped making housings etc for them. As for n/a vs turbo 13b it depends weather you want a relatively smooth turbo motor with the potential to make a shite load more power or an old school angry sounding large ported n/a screamer!?
  2. Yeah you would have to machine way too much off it. Really though, what the point when an exedy button will hold over 120rwkw. You also don't need to reface the contact area bigger and re-drill holes when you can get 200mm (km20/km36) and 212mm (kr42) flywheels..... But then you need the bell housing that accompanies them too....
  3. That would be a good idea.... If it would fit inside the bell housing. I tried using a 200mm t18 with my k-t and the pressure plate fouled on the indent for the clutch fork. Only a 180mm kit well fit inside a k bell.
  4. First page.... http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w30/gtotigersaustralia/ke26/102_2688.jpg 12A's and rx4/rx5 13b's are front mounted s4 onwards is side mounted...although he has front mounted this one.
  5. It had a plug on it that clipped into the pedal, made like very easy. I did have to get the other end shortened (cable only) with a new lead on the end. Its long enough to go round behind the motor, under the fuel rail and then do a 180 to connect to the throttle body. Without doing the 180 I reckon the end of the cable could nearly touch the radiator support panel.
  6. Nothing spacial, just ask for a 3k timing chain at your local parts shop. The 3k should be a double. Get yourself a timing gasket set while you're there.
  7. Nothing really different about a 7kc one.
  8. I reckon he is talking about the thermostat housing. The bolt spacing of a 7k one is slightly wider if you try and bolt a 4k one on it. Not a problem obviously if you just use the 7k one.
  9. You've got your throttle body on the passenger side don't you? I used one out of a v6 pajero, heaps longer and even bolted straight up to the fire wall!
  10. Might have to take the pistons down to your local nuts and bolts shop and find some the right size.
  11. You mean to hold the gudgeon pins in?
  12. I'm just about to sell mine for $600 which I think is a pretty fair price. Do you want one or have one? Ps, just told someone 30 seconds ago to pm you about the centre console I pinched the brackets off ;)
  13. Did you ever run it down the strip with the 4k?
  14. Surely you could just setup a relay off the existing light sender. Pretty sure it pulls the light to ground so you should be able to wire the negative of the relay trigger to it without any interference to the light. You'll just have to wire the pump power off 87a as the relay will end up normally open. Only problem I can foresee is starting. If its only say for a little while then there should be enough fuel in the bowl to get you started, build oil pressure and activate the pump. If the car sits for long enough to evaporate all fuel from the bowl then you would need some sort of bypass prime switch/button. Alternatively, just run a t piece in the stock sender hole.
  15. RIP in pieces
  16. 7k sump! You could buy the k-w50 bell housing and fly wheel I'm considering putting up for sale!
  17. Yes the gearbox will bolt up to the 7k with the appropriate flywheel.... Weather it will appreciate the extra torque for very long is another story. I have a 7k efi manifold on my 5k so I'll let you ponder that one. 3k sump....definitely not.
  18. Yes and yes. You could use a 3kb twin carb manifold with Webber adapter plates....although you could probably get a decent tune out of a single down draught Webber.
  19. "bring up my post" getting a for sale thread back up the top of the list. Ke30's had 3k motors in them however you're probably better off just asking for a "3k carby" rather than stating it by model.
  20. The guy building the steerfast rally car has some. No idea how close to you in qld he is though.
  21. Figured you probably would but though I'd ask anyway. I'll most likely just run ls1 coils myself. If you do see any for sale soon let me know though. All the ones I've seen on Ebay are new and $800 odd. What are you doing with the v4 actually? I know someone that might be keen on it!
  22. Or just put the 3k alternator on the 4k. You'll also need to use the 3k water temp sender or your guage won't read correctly. The water pump and thermostat housing inlet and outlets might also be different but you could just swap the 3k ones onto the 4k as well.
  23. Great to see some updates on this. I didn't know you were running a v4! Are you still using that dis-4? Interested in selling it if not?
  24. Way worse than me then. Considering pending deals you can have the w50 for a pineapple.
  25. I remember someone found a solution for this a couple of years ago. Have a search and you might find the thread.
