Better to fix it, there have been a few that have hydraulic-ed and have only bent the rods leaving the crank and pistons intact but the pistons get scored on the bottom if they rub the crank, you can't really trust a replacement engine as they normally also need work.
Ha, vh45 conversions are fairly expensive in the 300, I am pretty sure that the owner is going to be selling it in an 'as is' state.
