  1. Yep  at least i hope so, it comes with a gearbox attached to it.
  2. Oh that is so true But at the moment i'm allowed to work on the '30 cause my boy wants to go for rides in it
  3. Yeah i was thinking that i might have mucked something up with the wiring so i traced it from the connector where the auto shifter was and down to the gearbox switch but it was all no go, so i pulled the switch out (27mm spanner) and tested that and it was stuffed. Had a look on the Tridon site and downloaded their switches catalogue (http://www.tridon.com.au/downloads.aspx). Nothing for the KE series corolla but after a little searching the liteace k-series uses a TRS007 switch (along with a quite a few others uses the same switch) and the other but is that it has a different connector style (its on the switch not a flying lead) so it'd have to be modified or find a plug for it. Took the turtle for a spin around the block when i got home from work earlier, about a nice 15 minute drive. Don't how the heck i did it but as i was coming up a side road i put both feet on the clutch pedal  and coasted past the intersection.... Got home and decided that i may as well check the manifold bolts, a little loose but i discovered the bolt for the left hand engine mount was undone - i was able to tighten it up with my fingers and then the breaker bar was put to work. The right hand one was a little loose as well. I'll check 'em again in a few days of driving.
  4. Almost looks like a land boat. RA23GT's "Project Boat" perhaps ?
  5. http://www.monroe.com.au/trade-corner/catalogue.html And order yourself a hard copy Well on CD at least. Its a real shame they don't do the book any more. But then again on their "Customer Registration Form" you can either click on the CD-ROM or Print as the catalogue version you'll want... Its pretty good reference materiel
  6. Well thats a relief. I spent most of the weekend thinking "oh crap he's gone out there". Maybe re-set the date for about 2 months time or so. Would like to get a few more from around toowoomba here in on the act as well. Maybe their not as brave as some....
  7. Got the rest of the odds and sods done last night - toggle switch for the reversing lights (not overly happy with the idea but it'll have to do till i get something) and a few other bits. Got the timing done a bit better, it's running something like 15deg. On the 10deg mark it didn't seam to happy with it. Going to have to have a look at the points when i can and see what their like. Mucked around with the carby a little bit on the idle etc. So all up it seams to be idling pretty good, not too sure what rpm its idling at atm only did it by ear. Pulled the turtle out of the garage and took it for a spin around the block And going by the seat of my bum dyno i'd say it'd give the lancer a run for its money at the lights. The only things i now have to remember is that its not a self-shifter and i need to use the clutch on gear changes and that just taking my foot off the gas pedal isn't enough
  8. It was the same thing with my dads old '55. Only four belts but it was rego'd as a five so he found some lap sash belts. Bloody hard on the arse if you sat in the middle on the trans tunnel. Might be half the reason why my tail bone is broken......
  9. So all up you'd be looking at something close to, or over, the $150 mark to swap in a new steering arm.... Hmm, when i got my '30 it was rego'd as a five seater till i had the rego swapped over and the inspector didn't like the idea of it, since it was only complianced as a four and only had the belts to sit four..
  10. No you have to have the steering box out. But you will need the car up on stands so that you can have the room to get under it and use a "Pitman Arm Puller". If you get in quick to a tool shop that sells "SP Tools" ask for SP67030 Pitman Arm Puller, $6.00 till the end of june. (http://www.austechindustries.com.au/). But, before you pull the old arm off, make sure you mark the shaft some how so that when you put the new arm on its centered in the same spot as where the old one was.
  11. Thats ok mate a few others have pulled out as well, we've come down under the weather, so we're thinking of pulling the plug as well. Make it for a later date ?
  12. Grr got the car started last night :D but it needs a tune (timing etc) I don't have the wiring connection under the brake master cylinder for the reverse switch on the g'box so i had to make up a length of wire from the plug on the box up though the hole for the shifter to the plug for the auto. All went well till i tried reverse.... no lights. The damn switch is phucked
  13. I'm pretty sure there'd be at least one on here that'd agree
  14. :jamie: :jamie: I had six my old '82 And i would have liked another pair of rally 4000's on it to go with the first pair Both cars look very clean :jamie:
  15. Are you using the original crank pulley on the motor or have you swapped it for something else ? Cause the timing marks can vary between motors Crank Pullies I'd almost be willing to say that the plug leads are in the wrong spots on the dizzy cap....
  16. :jamie: anythings possible with a gas axe, a hammer and some imagination
  17. Something i forgot about - do you guys want to meet up as a cruise thing and then meet up in toowoomba here and cruise out ? Or we all just meet up at the camping grounds ?
  18. Well, thats a bummer But yeah i know what you mean by the rego. We've been thinking of up-grading to another car, a wagon, but the only ones that take my interest are mostly all six (legnum wagon, commodore sportswagon etc) and the only one thats a four that we both like is the lancer wagon. Its hard to believe that a few years back 12 months rego on a six was the same a what we're paying for 6 months rego on a four now a days. Bludger, i wouldn't really bother with the fishing gear, you'll need a boat to be able to get to the good spots plus you'll need a permit if you get caught
  19. ke3x and ke5x will be the easiest to do but ke70 is close to a bolt in swap the only thing that needs to be changed over is the top hats. Next on the list would be t-18/ae86 the top hats and steering arms need to be swapped over. My opinion is go for the ae86(t-18) struts cause of the bigger range of shocks you'd have
  20. Yes it can be done. But you'll need to use the 4af water pump, the bottom pulley for the 4af timing belt is two things off the top of me head i think there's a couple of other things as well. I'm pretty sure i've made a posting of using the "g" head on the "f" block in the "AExx Corolla Discussion" page somewhere. It'll be the same thing just opposite.
  21. The personnel confuser, top stuff.
  22. That brings back memories of a ke30 i once had many many years ago and i did the same thing but only 4 bales (two in the boot and two on the back seat) for a friend and i was pulling straw out of the car for months afterwards.
  23. Yeah thanks for that :bash: :P something i completely forgot about Have been wondering about that if the pipe is up a little higher. Cause i get the g'box up somewhere close to where i think it should sit and the exhaust gets a bit too close to the floor pan for my liking. Hmm, i think i'll finish off that mount then drop it down with some washers or something till i can get the exhaust fixed. Cheers for that Tojo :y:
  24. I started thinking that it could have been the liteace engine mounts so i swapped them over to the ke30 ones. But nooo it's still the same. Had it all kind of lined up with the re-drilled x-member from the auto, but then i noticed the engine and exhaust manifold had a really nice gap at the rear end of the head and then i remembered about this post Auto To Man, Ke30 Advice - post #3 and so i dropped the box down and low and behold the manifold lined up :P But now i can't use either x-member cause the phuckin exhaust is in the road and i can't take the thing out and bend or dimple it cause it's all one piece. But i'm thinking outside the box of the auto x-member clears the exhaust nicely but doesn't really work with the g'box, but the manual x-member works on the g'box. So with a bit of cutting and a spacer plate thing i should be able to have something that works. Man, oh man i was really wanting to be able to use today as a day for timing the car in and getting any hiccups out of the road. Oh well back to it...
  25. And i was thinking "riding shotgun" as in stage coach and John Wayne holding a double barrel 8 gauge But anywhat, i was seriously considering the idea of ripping the front passenger seat out the other day so that i could carry an engine hoist in the '30
