What Corolla Would You Rather Own

I guess it goes to show how well we worship the sprinter. "Oh merciful sponter, god of drifto don't let my over cambered front wheels slide me into the gutter." Not that over cambered front wheels are really used by the gods anymore. -
Loving the garden ornament in the first pix

What Corolla Would You Rather Own
towe001 replied to Tazrolla's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
True true, at the moment i'm sitting my arse in a ke30 and even knowing that its got its quarks (rattles etc etc) and that i'd love to give it a few loving taps with my steel caps i still enjoy driving it. My son loves the thing to death... My last rolla was a ae82 seca twinky and that was a love-hate relationship. Loved driving the car but i hated the motor. But the only thing i liked about the motor was that it never sounded like the typical 4age burning-cat-in-a-tin-can exhaust note. An old boss of mine even commented on it that it sounded like sex. The only bitch i have to say about the 5k that's in the '30 is that the manifold bolts are a pita to get to. Whereas the 4age was nothing more then a pain in the arse. The reason i own a ke30 is cause i not only like the style but it has four doors, a boot and an easy to work on "k" motor. Its practical for me going to and from work and tooling around to streets when i feel like it. Some days i wish i didn't toss the auto but. If i was more into ripping into the twisties etc etc i'd have gone for another ae82 seca or the sedan (or ae1xx) cause of the independent rear suspension. I can't vote cause i like both -
Ha, that picture wasn't taken in '79 Pretty surprised about it turning up here. I was in truth showing off my first mobile phone. But all in all the turbo that i have my foot on was dads big idea of sucking all the rubbish (chip packets, coke cans, etc etc) out of the cortina he once had Never quite worked but. Hence the chicken wire :D

No, seriously, no i couldn't do it. I'm a patient man. I might wind up grabbing the razor and starting but then i'd start thinking of paint the car red A beautiful blood red tone with drip marks and all

Time wasters Those phuckin borrowers pinching my stuff again. Work and the wankers that i have to put up with that would sooner walk around the place holding a piece of paper and making the remark "I'm busy picking an order" and then they give you a blank look when you turn around and tell them the paper is blank or that its an address..... A pallet of paint comes in (32 x 20liter drums) and all they can do is 2 drums and they start complaining the job is too hard and they now feel like going home to rest up cause their back hurts. I have a pretty bad back that even the drugs won't shift now a days but some how i manage to shift away 4 pallets of the crap from when they turn up at around 3:30pm to close at 5pm and without using a forklift. Head ache that doesn't want to move on Being forced to drive to the other side of town - almost felt like i was a drunk driver. Not being able to keep the car in a straight line, not being able feel the brake pedal, depth of vision screwed, reaction times slowed, i think i ran a red light.

Makes me think Jag XJ220 -
Research at its best Wheel bearings are the same - Protex PBK2900 (ke20 - ae86, including t-18) Which would have to mean the spindles are the same diameter Brakes are different - ke3x/ke5x uses a 218mm dia x 30mm height x 10mm thick rotors (import brakes) - ke3x/ke5x/ke70/ae71 uses a 218mm dia x 30mm height x 12.7mm thick rotors (local brakes) - ke70 panel vans possibly use a 228mm dia x 32mm height x 12.7mm thick rotors - ae86 sprinter uses a 234mm dia x 38mm height x 12.5mm thick rotor (possibly the same for the ae71 panel van) - t-18 uses a 230mm dia x 24mm height x 12.7mm thick rotors Calipers would be made to suit the position and width of the rotors - you'll in a world of hurt trying to fit the calipers from the imported ke30 to the struts and rotors of a ae86... Which would have to mean that, yes, while the spindles might the same diameter their not the same length (if i'm wrong, i'm wrong) Ball joints are the same - Protex BJ145 The control arm bushes are the same - Nolathane 45087 Which would mean the control arms are the same - BUT their not the same length (ke3x/5x are longer) Strut top hats (the part that bolts the strut to the car body) are different. Steering arms are different between the ke3x/5x/70 (ae71 ?)and the ae86/t-18 (ae71 ?) The bolt spacing for the strut to steering arm is wider on the ae86/t-18 Brake hoses are the same - what screwed into the ke30 caliper will screw into the t-18 caliper. And thats bit of the research i've done over the www Edit - i left out a few odds and sods cause i can :lolcry:

To be honest its a replica te37 not the real deal. The only bit Johnny didn't do was the dash

Corolla Ke55 Rally Car /off Roader
towe001 replied to brad spicer's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Round or rectangle headlight version ? From memory the ke55 used a sealed headlight. But you can get the semi-sealed from either the local auto shop or off ebay. The rounds lights are 7in diameter. Not sure what the rectangle lights are. But the semi-sealed lights use the H4 bulbs. Another good thing to do is also upgrade the grounding cable that goes from the engine to the car body. Strut tops - as in what holds the top of the spring in place ? Another '55 or ones from the ke3x range. If your bottoming the struts out, it might be a good idea to invest in some rubber bump stops or upgrade the struts to something better. -
Need to do some updates on this Something thats been keeping me a little busy after work and weekends Trying to tidy the garage up. A few things that i've bought over the past few weeks Waiting on a few more to turn up :) maybe one day 2t-g in the background But then again Pulled out of my side street and in the space of about 150m i got done for 73 in a 60 zone Stoked in one way.... felt like digging a hole under a rock in another way (still do) Starting to wonder if i should go back to the two speed auto....

Vibrating seat :)

:) Try fitting the arms to the ke70 strut or the other way around... It'll be, urm, rather difficult

Seams alright and at 350 its been ran-in. In my opinion if your not planning on towing a camper nor wanting to tough it in a swag the whole trip go for a troopy - more sleeping room etc etc
-
My dads more or less in the same boat - wants to take a trip around the oversized island. Knows a diesel is the way to go and i'm trying to convince him to steer away from his choices of either a patrol or a rodeo dual cab and on to a toyota either cruiser or hi-lux but.... It sounds like you need to start hitting up some of the 4wd forums. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ <- is a pretty good one. Aussie too

I'm intending too Girlfriend has a pretty good job now, i'm just biding my time, working up my holiday pay and till the other half has settled into her job.... And it only puts out 25 lumen :jamie: We get a torch in that runs on AA batteries and it puts out an eye blinding (proved by accident :bash:) 90 lumen for about 35-40 Oh yeah and Paypal bloody paypal. Bought some spark plug leads off ebay and the other way to pay for them is through paypal. Yep i'm ok with that my paypal account is linked to my bank account and so i thought the money would be pulled out of the bank account from paypal. But oh no i have to have a credit card for that to happen and so now my paypal account has been locked cause of it...

Oh yeah and its my turn to bitch today at work the boss walked past one of the other guys who was basically shooting the shut with a courier driver about his holiday up at cairns and that a pipe line should be built from there to brisbane and blah blah blah straight down to me and another work mate helping me put some stuff away "Less talk and more work" The only thing we was talking about was to do with the stuff that we had been marking off and putting away, like, whats been checked off, what can go away, etc etc.
