  1. Does he feel like doing anything over Easter (aka next weekend)?
  2. I'll try and take some photos on the weekend, we've got the rattle sorted which was one of the dramas, main thing now is just trying to raise up the engine pipe
  3. #hipster #hugedouche
  4. I see myself as Generation Chromosone (X and Y, as I was born in '84)) but don't really associate with either.
  5. At the same time though, blaming the parents of slacker Gen Y'ers for their attitude is diverting attention away from the fact that most of the f-with Gen Y'ers refuse to take responsibility for anything, including their own attitude. Yes the parents do tend either molly-coddle or enable them, but it isn't fair to fully lay blame on either party.
  6. And hashtags. Don't forget the hashtags...
  7. Every man and his dog seems to buy a DSLR, create a facebook page called "Joe Bloggs Photography" or some lame title relating to cars, and then expects people to fawn over their poorly lit night-time "shoots" or a shot of a racecar from half a kilometre away. It's the current fad, I'm sure it'll die down soon (says the guy who bought himself a DSLR for Christmas) and the real pros will still be around. To be fair, you can get quite a decent camera for less than $1k, it's the lenses that you need for motorsport-type shots that cost the big coin (need decent focal length since you'll be stuck on a hill somewhere, along with ridiculously fast auto-focus and aperture).
  8. A couple of cuts on my hands, but the Snoarer now has a fully functioning, refurbished, non-bleeding HVAC LCD screen, complete with uber-cool blue button lights. Bit of a mission to fit it (had to split the unit in half so I could pair the new front screen unit with the old rear brains unit otherwise fan-speed didn't work and the dash air-temp display was blank) and in traditional fashion I ended up with one spare screw, but anyone who has ever owned a Z30 Soarer will know how good a new LCD unit is (as the stock ones always bleed)
  9. Toymods Broke/Putty Rd cruise is on next weekend, and the annual Dyno Day should be some time in April
  10. Was on a cruise to NZ at the end of last year, and I swear every second person was using an iPad/tablet to take photos...surprised more weren't dropped off balconies or over railings since you don't have a wrist strap.
  11. Mechanical camshaft-driven fuel pump :P
  12. Could see it working in Japan...
  13. http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/commuter-of-the-future-20130305-2fhif.html Plug-in electric, 50km range...
  14. 4AFC, that extra 0.2L makes all the difference :P And surprise surprise we never heard anything more about this super-mega-awesome giant-killing 4AFC, despite the guy still posting here...
  15. Outgoing president (and now Vice President) of Toymods bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, absolutely pimping.
  16. And a couple more from the Toymods photoshoot night on the weekend
  17. Had to go to work this morning so checked out the HEZ (Hunter Economic Zone) on the way home, it's an "abandoned" (never developed) industrial estate near Kurri Kurri, couple of nice straight roads and no thru-traffic, managed to grab a break in the weather too
  18. That's an AE10x wagon, so anything A-series from that time (5AFE, 4AFE, 7AFE, 4AGE 20V, 4AGZE in order of good-ness) will be the easiest swap, I'm guessing it has either a 4AFE or 7AFE in it at the moment? Best option would to to simply keep whatever engine you have and just replace the transmission, minimum of fuss and least amount of things that can go wrong (especially on the wiring side of things).
  19. By the way, the KE20 has a 4x110 stud pattern, not 4x100
  20. Bone stock, same dyno as the others but a few years prior (and a stinking hot day so it was probably over-correcting, take a look at the intake temps) Same engine but with extractors, 2-2.25" exhaust, hotdog + Lukey Ultraflow, CAI with K&N pod filter behind front bumper. Exact same dyno and day as the AE82 above (just 8 minutes earlier), much better conditions than the previous run too. Note, even though max power figures are roughly the same, the 7A is a full 10-15kw higher at low to middle RPM and is higher overall all the way to peak - the 7A just runs out of puff earlier whereas the bigport just pulls hard to redline
  21. If you want an interesting comparison I can show you what a 7AFE with roughly the same power output looks like :P
  22. You'll struggle to get an accurate graph considering the age of the engines, plus the fact that every dyno on any is different. That's with only a cat-back (I think), but it was a 7-rib running in an AE82 so the electrics could have been a bit iffy too (I know it was missing an intake air-temp sensor at that stage). And despite what the graph looks like, it was running the factory ECU and TVIS was functional
  23. Cats are worse, you get the half-digested barf of biscuits, then further down the hall you get the 4" long hairball that they were actually trying to cough up in the first place...
  24. In NSW, Toymods is an official Historic Rego club, but I think you have to be a financial member ($30 a year)
  25. It helps cut down on development costs, plus Toyota have some sharing-deal going on with BMW anyway (we give you cutting-edge hybrid tech, you give us awesome small-car diesel stuff And if it's anything like the 86, don't expect it before 2017-2020...
