  1. Levin isn't a brand, it's just a model (ie Toyota Levin, or sometimes Toyota Corolla Levin).
  2. You have to be careful sometimes with acronyms, often they are actually folk etymology/"backronyms" (in that the definition is created after the acronym is already in use) - a common one is that Lexus stands for "Luxury Export to the US" (Lexus themselves have repeatedly stated that it is just a made-up word, derived from the name Alexis, that sounds luxurious and sporty at the same time) or just adopted from other manufacturers despite not being applicable any more (GTi stands for Grand Tourer Injected and was originally a Maserati term, but is most famous for being on small Euro hot-hatches which are by no means "Grand Tourers" SE is deceiving too, since it is often used as "Special Edition", which in the Corolla sense as the almost-base model (vinyl seats, mono AM radio etc) is anything but...
  3. I think there was a pov-spec "L" model at some stage too... Actual letters stopped really meaning things ages ago (if they ever did) and just became generic, hell you could get a 1999 CSi base model Camry that was in no way a "Club Sport" (the "i" was for injected though, and obviously applied), badges like "GXL" and "SX" are created by marketing departments and are all about perception and sound rather than actually standing for something - Kelloggs LCMs are a prime example of this, LCM doesn't actually stand for anything but sounded good and tested well amongst kids
  4. Both '92 and '05 will be 4x100 - all FWD Corollas are 4x100 up until the ZRE series in 2007 when they went to 5x114.3
  5. I've been running with a pod in that location for almost 6 years now with no problems whatsoever, including driving through flood-waters (say 20cm deep). To get the filter to suck up water you pretty much have to submerge it completely, which means standing water basically the depth/height of the front bumper, which is a LOT of water (and you'd be stupid to drive through that much). To get that kind of water level BEHIND the bumper you basically have to either crawl though or actually stop in the water, otherwise the bumper and bow-wave will keep it relatively clear. If you're that concerned, you can either run a bypass filter up in the engine bay (so if there is a vacuum caused by the filter being completely submerged the bypass opens up and draws in engine-bay air instead), or do as you did and box off the area where the battery is and run a panel/pod in the engine bay with a feed from the resonator cavity.
  6. That's the intake air temp sensor, if you're running an SRI-style pod (ie sucking in hot engine bay air) then you might as well just leave it dangling free, if you're doing a proper CAI feed then drill a hole in your new piping and swap the bung over from the airbox That's where mine went, the pod sits behind the front bumper where the intake resonator normally sits, that way it is fully isolated from the engine bay.
  7. You forgot the 4WD Skyline GTR running gear :P
  8. Renamed from "Lingerie" to "Legends" as a means of sounding more professional Still involves nearly naked woman running around playing a high-contact sport....
  9. Are you sure it has a 7AFE in it? AE101s had the 4AFE (7AFEs are AE102), and all AE102s had rear discs. I'd be double-checking what you have to begin with....
  10. Could be worse, could be the stupid ʞ©$ɟing alien from the Budget Direct ads. And they replaced a relatively hot French chick (who was actually Aussie faking the accent) for this....
  11. Well, the old girl got a tummy-tuck today....after many moons of scraping and scratching, we finally got the intermediate pipe remade and the exhaust raised up enough to no longer fear speed-bumps, driveways, seams in the concrete and the curvature of the earth. Big thanks to Premier Exhaust, who did what others said couldn't be done, and at a decent price too.
  12. Higher tensile strength than what? Standard 304/316 grade stainless steel is weaker than just about any mild carbon-steel let alone alloy steel, and A2 grade stainless fasteners are only around Grade 5.8 in a carbon-steel bolt, which isn't even a high-tensile grade (8.8, 10.9 or 12.9). I deal with steel day in day out at work, and stainless is only ever used for corrosion-resistance, never for strength (the fact that normal austenitic stainless can't be hardened makes it next to useless as a structural steel)
  13. Cheating scandal was at the end of '95 (team was banned for '96 but the cars still raced) with the ST205, they returned mid '97 with the Corolla and got second in both the driver's and manufacturer's championship in '98, and won the manufacturer's in '99 (third in driver's) before pulling up stumps and focusing on Formula 1... And let us never mention that again...
  14. Pity it's not going to be a proper WRC-class car (and thus run in the main series), but I suppose that would necessitate them going to a 1.6L turbo and AWD to meet the modified Super2000 rules that the WRC class runs, whereas R3 runs 1600-2000 NA 2WD
  15. More prevalent on the AE101 engine I think, which has slightly higher numbers (+4kw)
  16. So in a KE, almost enough extra power to run your 5W dome light... Maybe.
  17. I think you'll find that problem isn't isolated to overdriven superchargers, I know lots of guys here in Aus who have had dramas with ignition cut at 5500rpm in the AE101 GZEs stock, from memory it is due to the knock circuit being extremely sensitive to particular harmonics in the GZE engine (quite possibly related to the supercharger though) - even switching knock sensors AND ECUs (to a 7MGTE and AE92 GZE respectively) didn't fix the issue 100%, which seems to indicate the harmonics are a fundamental issue of the engine itself.
  18. Do you know what the car looks like? Fairly obvious differences between both the two models and the two engines AE112 (if it's a 2000) 7AFE (which the AE112 will have) ZZE122 (if it's a 2002) 1ZZFE
  19. 2000 model will be 7AFE, Australian Corollas didn't get the ZZ-series until December 2001
  20. 4AGE cranks are pretty solid, why not just get a second-hand smallport one?
  21. Coming back from Toyotafest, decided to drop by the old abandoned Yoothamurra Kiosk on the way out to Wiseman's Ferry for a couple of happy snaps And the only one I took of my car at Toyotafest: Charlie the Chook still remembers coming home from Charlestown Toyota on the backseat of my dad's brand new 1997 Corolla. *16 years on, and whilst he is starting to look a little weathered, he still takes time out to be a champ and hold up my entrant's number whenever I enter Charlene in an event
  22. Or extra content for Forza 5 like they did with Clarkson doing the Autovista narration in #4...from memory Top Gear have a multi-year/release deal with Microsoft for Forza content.
  23. Don't be afraid to rev it out :P first time Cara drove the '82 I had to basically grab the shifter and push on her right leg to stop her changing gears, since she was used to driving a 4K.
  24. Toymods Historic Rego is only applicable to NSW, if the OP is in another state then they can't use it. Even if it was, it will still have to pass a pink slip which would be a problem if it is currently defected and unrego'd
