  1. We have the TE, and the AE here mostly. A KE is a rare sight, but were sold. \/ Some TE's there if you wanna look \/
  2. Nice progress on this car. Your paint and bodywork looks really good. Does that shop sell tail lights for a TE27 or a KE25? Next time you go snap some pics. i love places like that.
  3. Parts came in. In the next few weeks the wife and I (yes, she works on the car too) will be tackling: rear bumper, master brake cylinder, rear slave cylinders, rear shoes, hardware, carb rebuild (or weber), intake gaskets, mechanical fuel pump, all soft fuel lines, fuel filter, Distributor cap, rotor, wires, plugs, breaker points, Radiator car, top hose, bottom hose, water pump, all small cooling hoses, and a thorough cleaning of the engine bay. PICS! Outside of car is washed.
  4. Well I saw a deal that I couldn't pass. My wife spotted a 1974 corolla on Craigslist and the posting was recent. Due to how hard these are to find, I jumped on it and called the guy. It was in a tow yard, and had been sitting there for 8-10 years. It was stored indoors for most the time. I told the guy I wanted it and would see him in driving time (3 1/2 hours). The seller had pulled the tank, dumped the old gas, cleaned and put about 2 gallons of new gas in it. He charged the battery that was in it, and it fired right up. It had a very high idle and some hesitation. It even has AC! It blew cold after about a min. I bought the car and he delivered it using his AAA tow card. This TE-27 is in much better shape than my other one. My wife was asking me to get her a cool car to fix up, and I think this one fits the bill for her.
  5. Don't you love it when something you built works? Its a great feeling.
  6. What's up guys. Sadly I have sold this car about a month ago and now I miss it. I loved how light these cars are and how well they handled when equipped with some DIY coilovers. I'm still around to read stuff, and have my TE27. Although it is on the back burner for now, It will be getting some much deserved attention.
  7. Find a friend with a blasting cabinet. I de-greased pressure washed with heated gun, then blasted. Simple. Polishing from this state will work well too if fine sand is used. mine looked terrible when I started.
  8. Wow, nice work on the engine. The paint reminds me of some vintage race motorcycles. Good luck with your new project. Glad to see another from the states.
  9. I fully support this build. -Meaning that I will consistantly check for updates and enjoy looking at your pics. Looks like a fun project.
  10. Cool looking 4 door you are building. I did a quick skim. ill come back to read the details. Keep at it.
  11. Your car looks nice. Those seats will be perfect. The racing seats just don't fit the look of the car.
  12. Sweet video. Nice job on the editing. When you unlocked the door, I was thinking I have the same key!
  13. I picked up some mesh wheels for $100. They are Elipsons 14x6. The offset makes the lip the same as my MA61 supra wheels. I'll probably refinish these. I also welded up my 4:10 ratio diff. I figured, since it's only a 2 pinion, i might as well lock it up. I also put the interior back in. Looks good eh?
  14. That's a sweet budget build you got there.
  15. Have you done any welding on the rust in the engine bay? I am interested in how you do this, because I will be doing the same thing on my TE27.
  16. So I can point others to this thread when they ask me. Information is good.
  17. I would love to get my hands on some fiberglass slim bumpers. Love the progress.
  18. A taller spring may be the diffrence of a captive spring or a loose spring on a poorly built assembly. ;)
  19. Good points guys. I am hoping that people will look here before building their coilovers, because I am tiered of seeing people messing up their set-ups. Not always. this can be a fix for someone with an adjustable perch maxxed to the highest setting that doesnt keep the springs captive. If you have a few inches of threads to spin down the perches, you can can definetly go up in spring height size. You can do this while keeping your car at the desired height and keep them spring captive. Can someone link their helper springs and where to buy them? Pics would be good.
  20. You going to tear it all out and start over?
  21. I have noticed a lot of people that build their coilovers incorectly. One of the main thing I see that bugs me is the springs ability to remain captive. If the spring is too short can this be fixed by getting a taller spring with the same rate? I normally mention the SW20 MR2 struts for the shorter stroke, but sometimes it isnt enough.
  22. I still see this on Craigslist every once in a while. Looks like you are stuck with it.
