  1. a guy i knew pulled a set apart and had them repainted. he had problems with them leaking air, as he didn't reseal them properly and had to do it again.

    Boost

is it an electronic dizzy? doesn't look like it from the coil. you are only running 4 pounds of boost. to me it doesn't sound like it would be blowing out the spark real easy. not running to rich and fouling plugs?
  3. actually in my earlier post i wasn't real clear. i was trying to say the most common way the average motorist, gets into trouble with a FWD it is simply going into a corner a bit fast and experiencing understeer. my reference towards the back stepping out was meant to be for RWD only, as in a little to much gas coming out of a corner. the most common mistake average RWDers make. i just didn't word it right or proof read properly. sudden throttle liftoff, will provoke the car into an oversteer condition. well mine does anyway. like you said, it is all about controlling weight transfer. :D
  4. huh? i take snap oversteer as being when the back end steps sideways, and wants to overtake the front. ie you are already spinning out, unless you do something to recoup it. are we talking about the same thing?
  5. most FWDs will understeer if pushed into a corner to fast. the only way they really oversteer is if you left foot brake or use the handbrake. not something the average driver is going to do. that is understeer, ie. push. the car wants to run wide. really it is easy to recover from, by simply taking your foot off the gas and everything returns to normal. it is a normal reaction from an average driver. if the backend steps out on a RWD, you have to regulate it with opposite lock and throttle. takes more work then simply taking your foot off the gas like a FWD.
  6. yes the ke2x driven plate is slightly thicker, no it doesn't matter. the same pressure plate was used for both models. i attached a scan from an old repco clutch parts manual.
  7. the 2 main reasons for FWD: it is cheaper to mass produce. also it is safer as the average driver wouldn't know what to do if the backend stepped out.
  8. LOL. agreed.
  9. fair enough.... must have taken a bit off there.
  10. yea, i agree. touring car racing isn't what it was. i would like to see our premier racing category to be much the same as it started. long gone are the days when they would drive the cars to the track, race them all day, and then drive them home again. the cars being basically what they sell on the showroom. you would think with more manufacturers to gain exposure, it would be good for the sport. would make for far more money put into sponsorship... win on sunday, sell on monday. i guess the only manufacturers to benefit these days are holden and ford. pity the v8 supercars only real similarity over a production car, is the body. not much else is as it was when it left the factory. :jamie:
  11. why are they shimmed? :jamie:
  12. i'd say to rich. most webers are jetted to big for a k series. i would assume it is a 32/36 DGV as well. usually if it is to rich and you plant your foot it will bog down, if you then instantly lift off the engine will pick up.
  13. what was the reason for the engine not turning over? was the later flywheel interfering with the inside of the bellhousing?
  14. excellent, love your work. haven't got any spare 12a's laying around?
  15. yep, '92 FF&R. :jamie:
  16. well, you could if you really wanted to. it depends on how much suspension movement you will get with weight transfer etc. the ke11 in the pic (from a real old mag) has 235's on the back. has flared/lipped guards.
  17. if you are old enough to remember watching them on telly, ae86's ran at bathurst. would be heaps of willing sheep out there to buy a new one.
  18. i think you will probably have to minitub it. does angela use hers at the track? from what i gathered she just drives around with 12" rims and skinny tyres. AFAIK it just had a standard driveline. not really meant to put power down. sounds like it will be a fun ride. :jamie:
  19. he has a malpassi rising rate fuel pressure regulator in there......
  20. all engines like a richer mixture until they warm up.
  21. hopefully all your bearings are good and you now have it sorted. :jamie: like the way you held up the engine to pull the xmember out the way. full points for ingenuity.
  22. Rob, you need "stub stacks".
  23. it is a ke30 2 door sedan.
  24. hmm, think i will have to put my twin 1 3/4" SU's back on. :jamie:
  25. i had a look at the oil pumps i have. the one from the 5k, and two 4k items, all look to be much the same. the 4k ones are from dished piston engines, so are later models. haven't got any earlier pumps to compare them with sorry.
