  1. ok, must be the beers, didn't read it right...... well if someone else wants to pay that price, well let them.
  2. Nick got his ae71 for $51 i think. i wouldn't be paying $1500 for a rusted ae71 wagon. maybe $300 max if it had some good bits going for it. no idea about the ae86, you would have to give more info. they are overpriced things.....
  3. hare's is bigger than rabbits and i tell's ya's they splatta's goods witha's a shotgun
  4. yes, but if he was to use the early thin discs (2.5 mm thinner) with the late calipers, and use the commodore pads (which need thinning 1.2mm per pad, ie 2.4mm per pair) , i don't think he would need to modify the pads. might be a straight bolt up???
  5. i think you will find that ke30, ke70, ae71, and ae86 all use the same wheel bearing kits.
  6. could even be the front gearbox seal. a bit more of a pain to renew.
  7. according to the DBA disc catalog, the ae86 discs are the same part number as on an ae71 panel van. has the same center hole as all earlier ke corollas. maybe they have it wrong.....
  8. the earlier calipers are a lot easier to change pads. i wouldn't think the later discs would be that much better, they are still the same diameter, just a little thicker (a little less fade resistant). you would be better off getting the brakes off an ae71 panelvan or an ae86. i knew a guy who shaved the fins off his ke30 calipers for wheel clearance. he had no problems at all.
  9. i thought the corona rims were only 5" wide. i like the ra60/tercel 14x5.5" wide rims better. had a set on my old ke30. yea, it is the tyres that make your car go fast around corners, not the wheels. those hayashi rims, or whatever they are look real good on stocko looking rx3's.
  10. i just want a set of 15" steelies from a late FWD corolla for our nova (AE92). stuff 16's or 17's, not interested in looks, would rather spend the money on GOOD tyres.
  11. waste of money, unless it is built to conform with some racing class rules. i figure the uprighted motors are a waste of money. you would be better of putting in a datsun A series engine..... they are in a ke1x. in anything bigger with a larger engine bay i'd be putting in a later better motor. better value per HP.
  12. i'd have an original mazda R100 :jamie: i like the early mazda rotaries, but in general they are overpriced rust buckets. cool motors though.
  13. sounds about right to me. chroming isn't cheap. shop around and get quotes elsewhere as well.
  14. the dude who got run over: what a f@$kstick. he won't be showing off again like that in a hurry. it is a pretty severe punishment, but really who would be that stupid....
  15. it is a bit weird as it is just measuring the mixtures from one cylinder. really so long as all the injectors have matched flows it shouldn't be to much of a problem.
  16. The easiest way of measuring four stud wheels is to take two diagonal holes and measure from the outer edge of one hole to the inner edge of the second hole.
  17. you said it really well Tom. :D
  18. i don't agree with the hit and run bit. my point just being that the dude was being hassled for "undeclared" mods, which are really a common occurance. like how many cars are getting around with 17's which are 3" larger than the largest factory fitment, when the law says 2" oversize max....
  19. SST1 = big f@$king hammer, ie 1kg + head (everyone should have one in their toolbox). i have never failed to shock a crank bolt off yet, even without locking the flywheel. i have never stuffed a radiator fortunately, but have come close. i have forgotten to remove a spanner i was using to turn the engine over whilst setting valve clearances before. i was lucky and just bent some fins, but didn't puncture the rad. funny how well you learn from your mistakes.
  20. that works. just watch your radiator.
  21. it is just a normal thread. a socket, breakerbar and SST1 are all i use.
  22. is it any different to running an AE71 with a 4k that hasn't been engineered? or a ke70 with twin sidedraft webers? or even a ke70 with a gemini carb? none are strictly legal.
  23. i want an all alloy suzuki G13B in my ke15 later on.
  24. sorry mikey, i wish i could help you, but no don't have any spare taillights at all for the wagon. not really interested in a trade at all as we prefer the more standard look. the ke16s lights are nothing flash anyway. i have been looking into making reproduction lenses. unfortunately it seems to be a very expensive exercise to do them properly. the resin used costs a lot of money. if i can find a decent alternative i will let you know. there was a guy making repro clear lenses (could be dyed) on datsun1200.com, to suit the 1200 wagons for something like $200 australian. recently i saw a stall at one of the local weekend markets where some people were selling all sorts of moulded and different coloured plastic reflectors. i need to ask them about if/how they make them, and see if the material they use could handle the temperatures from light bulbs.
  25. sorry :D stupid cars
