  1. it must be hard to market something that looks like a toaster....
  2. you got me scratching my head too. i'll have a look tomorrow at the oilpumps i have. i have a 5k one and a couple of 4k ones in the shed. i'll compare them and let you know. some oil filter bases also have an oil pressure relief in them. what sort of oil filter is it (brand/size)? is the 5k still using hydraulic lifters? guess you won't know until you pull the sump, but is there any crap blocking the pickup? if i think of anything else i'll ask later.
  3. i actually pulled the headunit out of my car. the amp, 6x9s and 16mm MDF parcel shelf are coming out soon. useless weight, just slowing my car down. i listen to the music of my exhaust, wheel bearings and diff whine. music i have been listening to at home. pink floyd, metallica, sex pistols, presidents, smashing pumpkins, midnight oil, prodigy.
  4. any decent carb makes a difference, so long as the motor needs it. my DCD weber died on my 5k. so i went back to a stock aisan for a bit. the thing lost a good 20% or more powerwise. it is only neck and neck with a new v6 commodore up to 100 now. sad. sob
  5. i was going to put this up the other day. hail from monday nights storm near Gatton:
  6. that is cool. 90 hp at the wheels isn't bad, considering he would have spent under a grand to turbo it. pretty funny that he doesn't know the difference between drawthru and blowthru. i would have thought that with near 15psi of fuel pressure at the carb at full boost, that fuel would piss out of the accelerator pump diaphram....
  7. mmm......chops. barbequed....drool....
  8. my ke15 has been mistaken for a fiat a few times. i don't mind though, european cars are cool, pity such expensive rust buckets.
  9. googlebot even uses personal messaging? :D
  10. that's fine. i prefer the pros better myself as well. was just another option to throw around.
  11. draglite 4 spokes would also look good.
  12. :D now that's more like it.
  13. all corollas from ke2x on have self adjusting rear brakes.
  14. find some wheels with dish. will look a lot tougher.
  15. not bad, except for the bonnet. the taillights look ok. the amber indicators do look a little better, but that is only a minor thing. i'd be more worried about the bigass indicators on the guards. :D i'd love to put a 12a (i'd be happy with a 6 port) in our ke16, except i don't think our stupid laws will let us. more potential than any k series.
  16. yes. think it is 10.5mm taller. there is the extra stroke, plus the 4k rods are also a little longer. Cookie, you are probably thinking of Stewart Fords article on his website. 3k heads are overated. really it isn't that hard to get extra compression using your existing head, just get it skimmed.
  17. you'd at least need a 5k head gasket, otherwise the firing ring would overhang the bore.
  18. the momo status look shit on that torana, and would probably look likewise on a ke55. suit a vl much better.....
  19. 3k = 75mm bore x 66mm stroke 4k = 75mm bore x 73mm stroke 5k = 80.5mm bore x 73mm stroke if you put a 4k crank in a 3k and changed nothing else, the pistons would hit the head. a 4k and a 5k crank are identical. in both the 5k's i have had they have "4k" cast on the crank in raised lettering.
  20. well a 5k has about a 16cc dish in its pistons in standard form. you will drop the compression ratio to about 8.0:1 with an early 3k head. attached is a pic of a 5k piston.
  21. ok, let me get this right. you are talking about putting an early 3k head on a 4k? if so, yes it will increase the compression. both have the same bore size..... stroke is different.
  22. huh? skimming your existing head gives more compression. putting an earlier head on a bigger bored 5k will lower the compression ratio. ok for forced induction.
  23. i've seen that one before. poor thing. the rt51 coronas would have to be one of the best shaped cars toyota ever made. i'd have one, but they are rarer and worth alot more than a ke15.
  24. all engines (k/3k/4k) have the same bore size (75mm) apart from a 5k and 7k(both 80.5mm), which have dished pistons. if you bolt a k/3k/4k head on a 5k (7k has extra headbolts and isn't interchangable) you will lose compression.
