i have been daily driving k series corollas for 15 years now. i have had a chance to try a fair bit in that time.
of all the brands toyota is best (although you pay for it), ryco is a close second. in general, for the price of one toyota filter you can buy two rycos.
valvoline sucks, they seem to suffer bad from oil drainback. don't use them.
next you have to consider size, the normal k series filter is a Z68 (ryco number), a mid sized filter.
Redwarf runs the bigger Z9's which i have tried. i found on an older engine it can take longer to build oil pressure compared to smaller types.
also you can get the later small filter Z386 (4af/g type), these are my favourite. they are the best for instant oil pickup. they spin straight on to a k series engine.
