  1. not sure (don't have an oil pressure guage). all i know is the oil pressure light goes out much faster with a smaller filter. i like the small 4a type filters for my solid liftered 5k. ryco z386. builds pressure quicker than with larger filters. the small filters can't be too bad otherwise toyota wouldn't have used them for the 4ag series.
  2. with the ND alternators, check the regulator, and also make sure there is a decent charge wire from the alt to the battery +. i had problems earlier last year with alternators. was really fun driving Mt Nebo by dolphin torch.
  3. ke30's have a habit of seizing the caliper slides.
  4. i have been daily driving k series corollas for 15 years now. i have had a chance to try a fair bit in that time. of all the brands toyota is best (although you pay for it), ryco is a close second. in general, for the price of one toyota filter you can buy two rycos. valvoline sucks, they seem to suffer bad from oil drainback. don't use them. next you have to consider size, the normal k series filter is a Z68 (ryco number), a mid sized filter. Redwarf runs the bigger Z9's which i have tried. i found on an older engine it can take longer to build oil pressure compared to smaller types. also you can get the later small filter Z386 (4af/g type), these are my favourite. they are the best for instant oil pickup. they spin straight on to a k series engine.
  5. well if you have already got the 351 and gas kit, i'd go that way. so long as it is able to be engineered.
  6. mate picked up his 1uzfe with auto and wiring loom (no comp) for $900 from an importers.
  7. mikey, have a look here heaps of different escort flavours.
  8. Rally Trophy it is a few years old now, but still great fun. just love the old cars from 1960 through to 1972. you can download heaps of different cars, such as a starlet, celica 2000gt , datsun 510/1600 to name a few. the RWD cars are very challenging. Redwarf would love this one.
  9. you will probably find changing from a K engine to a 3K didn't help, as the 3K block is about 10mm taller. i 've been through a heap of extractor clearance issues with my ke15 over time. i've had a K, 3K, 4K, and 5K in it. fortunately mine is RHD and i don't have to worry about steering box clearance, that would suck. this is what i did to lower the engine on the manifold side to stop my extractors hitting the floor:
  10. if you have 2 x 148 cfm carbs it doesn't mean you have 296 cfm of airflow available. did you know that your engine only sucks on one carb at a time, and then only has 148cfm available to draw on at any instant?. i've never heard of many mini engines much over 100 HP on twin 1 1/2" carbs. maybe you should read more into those books by David Vizard. hey i didn't create the chart, it came from SU. they know more than you and i put together. no idea where turbos come into the discussion. i've read lots of books too....
  11. i don't think they really leaned out. i think moreso you hit the airflow limit of 1 1/2" SU's. if you saw the SU selection chart i posted you will see that they taper out around 110HP.
  12. an EH holden only weighs about 1300kgs. less than it's victim, the magna.
  13. that was a nice setup you bought ready to go off of redwarf.
  14. Fayt look twins: Jamesrolla's car looks almost identical to yours. didn't notice it 'til just before. sorry Rolla__Boy, back on topic... you should slap your missus around. tell her since you've got so many corolla bits it would make sense to have her drive another corolla, as it will save you money or something.
  15. fortunately you didn't do much damage. how much is it going to cost to fix the other car. do you need to use your insurance and cop an excess? my brother rear ended a new magna in his '64 EH holden. the EH was still drivable, a bit battered, but it didn't even break the headlight. he wrote off the magna.
  16. 1uzfe (cheap), or 1j/2jz? nissan rb engine? anything other than the merc engine which would probably cost more to rebuild than a later model conversion. saw this a few years back at the fast fours jamboree. had a 13bt:
  17. buy it for the missus, and flog off the telstar/626.
  18. if you swap shells, won't you have to get it all re-engineered?
  19. generally if you take your car to a mechanic they are at a mechanical workshop. it is the mechanical workshops that are the ripoff. they charge about $50 an hour then pay the qualified mechanics about $15 an hour.
  20. :) nice. stuff mechanics, ripoff merchants. definitely worthwhile investing in tools and a workshop manual...even just for diy servicing.
  21. LOL. know all about that. all our drinking water is filtered. just glad we don't rely on your piss contaminated water from the hinze dam. suck shit all you gold coasters. :) /jokes
  22. people have to drink that after you piss in it you know.
  23. Bailiff, Whack his peepee
  24. if you're going to do a twin exhaust outlet, you've got to do it right...... LOL :)
  25. sorry :( :)
