  1. what is wrong with people in the world these days? we have 3 kids (between 6-7 years old) and wanted a better lifestyle, so we moved from suburbia to out in the country so our kids could frolick in the back yard, without annoying others. now we live on the outskirts of a country town (Laidley) and live on acreage, but it is worse than suburbia ever was.... for example, up the back has 6 dogs which often bark at us and the kids minding our own business in our own backyard. they even come into our yard (through the fence) to provoke our dogs. the yard two over to our left has 3 dogs, and they constantly seem to bark and be at war to the 6 up the back (their yards adjoin). now the yard to our right has 2 dogs which often bark needlessly, not to mention the grass which is a major fire and snake hazard being over 6 feet tall in places, and also the fact that he (an older gent)plays music loud to around 8 or later at night. for xmas, our kids received 50cc two stroke mini quad bikes, from their grandfather. now it is something, that us as parents didn't necessarily approve of, with the risk factor and noise (which is no different to your average 2 stroke whippersnipper or mower). now 2 months on after xmas we get a letter from the council that neighbours have made a complaint about our kids riding them. they would have on average have ridden them 2 times a week for under an hour at a time since xmas. this has been after 5.30 in the afternoon, in the coolest part of the afternoon, coming inside before 7. now we have had one neighbour actually approach us about it, over a week after a complaint was made to the council...ten days after the last time they rode them. from the information we were given from the council, we are within our rights so long as it is between 7am to 7pm monday to saturday, and 8am to 7pm sunday and public holidays. we don't really want to upset neighbours, but think that so long as we comply with local council bylaws we should just be left in peace. we could always sell the kids bikes, but how do we explain it to them....local busybodies made us do it? at least they are not riding them all day up and down the road. why can't people just mind their own business and let kids be kids? (i am seriously considering sending this to the local papers....what do you guys think?)
  2. very nice little car that. going to haul with the giggle gas. i just love the old crankcase dump pipes on these things. :y: a couple of questions: how did you lower the front of yours, and what radiator is that?
  3. :y: that's funny. least it was something simple.
  4. i would even paint the spokes of the hotwires black, then polish the face of them...as well as the centers.
  5. i have ke30 discs with Auto1 pads on the front of my ke15 with the standard master cylinder. stock rears. it will pull up in 30 meters from 100 kays. having pretty sticky A539 tyres helps alot. for braking the stickiness of the tyres makes a huge difference. the size of the brakes determines how many stops you can do before the onset of brake fade.
  6. you will find that early datsuns, mitsubishis, and mazdas came out with a similar master cylinder.
  7. the mkII corona coupes are way cool. ancullen, sounds like you really want a different car. maybe sell the corolla and buy yourself a mazda RX...
  8. turbo_rolla, paint the centers black and polish the face and they will look even better. then i guess lowering with an adjustable panhard rod and it will be choice.
  9. you need an adjustable panhard rod.
  10. the master cylinder looks like the early galant one i have. you just have to file the sides of it to fit in the reinforcing part of the firewall and slot the mounting holes. pretty well setup car you have Fayt. looks like escort/cortina rubber engine mounts.
  11. are you sure it is not a vacuum leak? at one stage i had a miss which i ended up tracking down to a cracked inlet manifold on one of the intake runners. think it was caused by the inlet manifold flange being slightly different in thickness to the extractor flange, and overtightening of the manifold nuts. the vacuum fluctuated similar to how you described. what sort of solid lifters are they, with what pushrods? i had a problem with the valve clearance adjuster screws on the rockers hitting the inside of the rocker cover when i converted to solid lifters in my 5k. i initially thought i had a bigend bearing problem until i worked it out. 15 degs is a bit of advance does it still run on with less advance? not lean at all? have you tried an air/fuel meter or something on it to get an idea of the actual mixtures? that is a lot of compression you got for your test. what sort of cam is in it, and did you work out what the static compression ratio should be? if you have too much compression you will have a big problem trying to fight off detonation/pinging unless you back the timing way off, which makes an engine run flat. a burnt valve would be indicated by low compression on one cylinder. not sure if i can help with your problem, but a few things to think about/try anyway....
  12. my car would run 0-100kays in 8.65 seconds in testing. i worked out the speed from calculations involving tacho, tyre diameter and gearing. also driving beside new cars at night and getting the missus to check out their speedo. yep on dozens of occasions much to the missus disgust. LOL. really me carrying 2 passengers would be closer to the weight of a ke30 with just a driver. a ke15 is a hell of a lot smaller than a porky ke30. my old '75 ke30 2 door sedan (which are the lightest of the ke3x) had 860kgs on the rego papers which coincides with figures i have seen. jonny rochester (if he means anything to you) had his ke35(te37) weighed after a 2tg conversion and it was 950 kgs. seriously i don't care if you can't accept how it went. fook and superjamie have been in it, when it had the 4k. ask them how they think it went....
  13. maybe take it to a place like pedders and get one of their "21 point safety checks", or something. shouldn't cost to much, but give you an idea of any problems.... then you can take it away and suss it out and fix it yourself.
  14. no, never dynoed. did all my tuning with a stopwatch and later an Air/Fuel mixture meter. i lived in Ipswich, bogan central for south east QLD. pretty much an endless supply of gung-ho meat heads out to prove the worth of the mighty falcadore to compare with. :y:
  15. does it have an idle cutoff solenoid, and does it work? otherwise check for a blocked idle jet or blocked idle air bleeds.
  16. a ke30 is around 20% heavier than a ke15. normal ke15's weigh 715kg. my old 4k (which was a late dished piston version) i got for free. it was a low kay jap import engine in perfect condition. i simply added a few reliability mods...shimmed oil pump bypass spring and double row timing chain. i shimmed valve springs to let it rev harder. let it breathe better at higher revs with minor porting, and bowl work . i had the head skimmed to up the standard compression from 9.5:1 to 9.8:1 and a 3 angle valve job. added a reground cam selected for the broadest possible power band with peak HP at around 7500 rpm. the car had pacemaker 4 into 1's and a 1 7/8" system. i also ran a 28/36 DCD weber which provides better drivability, economy, tunability, and way more power than stock. the dizzy was a recurved bosch item. nothing fancy, just a good overall balanced package with more time than money put into it. it gave 35mpg and was quicker than your average 6 falcadore in a light ke15.
  17. LOL! but your car was built to conform with motorsport regulations. :P different story. i'd love to see a stock 4A waste falcadores like my old 4k (which owed me less than $400) did in my ke15. :y: similar performance to a 4age ke30.
  18. if you go beserk on a k engine, it is not that hard to spend near as much as what it would take to do a conversion. i know of a few people who have spent around 2 grand on a 4k.
  19. rebuild so long as it doesn't need an overbore. if you can get by with a simple hone and rering, go for it. once you have to start reboring, and adding up the price of new pistons etc, the price goes up dramatically.
  20. go for it. the wreckers i went to the other day only wanted $125 for a 4k with 30 day warranty. cheap as...
  21. a stock 4k in good nick should be around 160-170 psi per pot. my old tuned 4k, with 9.8:1 CR and a 25/65 cam put out 160-165psi per pot after 3 1/2 years of hard work, daily driven.
  22. well that explains the pink rims then. :P
  23. mr blue balls. :P
  24. LOL, the cat looked like a UFO when it got hoiked out. for the record, i don't mind some cats and some dogs. also i hate some cats and some dogs...likewise their owners. in fact their are 5 little dogs up the back that really would be better off going through a garden mulcher than wasting good air. :P
  25. that would be a sin of intergalactic proportions. :P i don't think people invented masturbating. we used to have a male cat who used to bedhump something chronic. the only way to stop him was to throw him outside.
