For Anyone Thats Pulled Apart/rebuilt Ae86 Jdm 2022 Calipers
tas_ae71 replied to Pieman's topic in General Mechanical
lol, did they grow extra pistons with the red paint? did you feel much difference in braking perfomance? everyone knows red=brembo.... -
some people arnt comfortable with using a clutch. i was working at a mechanicals for a short while, there was an au XR6 falcon come in and the owner was a middle age lady and she wanted a lighter clutch put in that. i do admit it did seem quite heavy for a stock clutch, I'm not sure if it was any better with the new one or not. if she wanted that sort of car she would be better of with an auto one. i think that its just dumb to say that people should have to have a manual licence. just because someone is unable to correctly use a clutch doesn't mean that they can't drive at all. in an emergency most people call an ambo anyway.

PM'd gslrallysport yes under 40kg and of reasonable size.... i got a pair of bucket seats from WA they cost me about $150 or so from memory via courier, i don't mind picking up from a local depo..
-
i rebuilt my callipers myself, its not at all hard. the kits cost me about 60bucks for the pair.. i didn't have the problem of the bleed nipple braking off though. they are still sitting on the shelf waiting to rest of the setup and i haven't replace the nipples yet, maybe i should before they are fitted just incase i have the same problem. i was of the same opinion of getting them done professionally but then i saw how easy it is you can't really stuff it up. i had a seized piston to. maybe i should do a wright up on rebuilding them....

the first one works....

thats ace!! was that one wheel or 2? I'm guessing that guy was an officer? not a joy rider....

so you drive a wear a hat when you drive..? i bet you own a volvo... if not you should cause they are one of the safest car available.! i can tell you, you don't need 100kw/tonne to "hoon" as its called, i manage quite fine to do big skids with only a 4ac.. i don't have a locked diff either. i don't do it in residential areas where there are a lot of people, if i do chose to, i do it in non populated areas where there is little to no one to hit and only when there are no cars around. so yeah, most people who are on there provisional licences can't afford expensive cars. there are already laws in nsw(?) restricting the types of cars a p plater can drive. i don't think its just the p platers who are the "hoons" i think that the public has been brainwashed into that. i see plenty of fools who do stupid stuff like over take me (p-plater doing the correct speed) and come close to the car coming the other way. trucks that overtake when they shouldn't and have to pull in making me slow down or be side swiped to avoid the on coming car, that's also dangerous.. i remember i was on a bus one rainy day and a guy in some old ford ute came handing around a intersection and spun almost clipping the back of the bus.

thanks gslrallysport, but the door is over 25kg so thats out of the question..? i don't mind putting it on a pallet, just need someone to move it for me, i don't mind him getting to depo's and me picking it up. air freight sounds expensive. i don't know that greyhound go to tassie or they would have to have it handled threw a local company so dobble handling it will bump the price up considerably. tasfreight is an option... probaly the best one atm, i remember a mate asking about getting a motor put on a crate and having is sent from Melbourne, wasn't too expensive.

its over 25kg i belive, his scales only go upto 25kg and they where at that... so yeah.

never heard of them before... all American 50's cars have basically the same styling... lol

hey, i looked threw the phone book and have called a few companies havnt gotten too far with this. I'm wanted to freight a largish door from qld to tasmania. the guy who has the door to send to me called toll shipping and they just arsed him around put him threw to several different people and in the end told him to go else where. he rang "pack and send", they quoted him $800.... it would be cost about the same to drive up there and pick up his whole shell and trailer it back. any other ideas people? i do send a shit load of stuff around Aus and over seas but i have always gone threw aus post but this is just too big and heavy for them. i can get aprox dimensions and weight... thanks

4ac Emissions Removal And Cheap Power
tas_ae71 replied to KE70-from-mt-panorama's topic in General Mechanical
both are interchangeable, also interchangeable with 4ag... i have the larger type filter but it had the smaller type when i got it. this may also help you: http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/board/in...showtopic=21443 seriously, for how much it costs a weber is defiantly worth every penny. your spending maybe a hundred or more on basic maintenance which is good but yeah wont really make any more power unless its not running properly now. -
i replaced the needle and seat and gave it a tune, adjusted the timing and its all good now it seems.
-
i niticed that most have the bumpers removed, i know the plastic ones are quite heavy but it seems the trend to have none at all?
-
I got one today, $18.30 from Bursons with my discount card ;) Ill wakk it in later and see if it fixs the problem. hope it does :) thanks for the offer though Simon. ill yell when i have something to report back with.

4ac Emissions Removal And Cheap Power
tas_ae71 replied to KE70-from-mt-panorama's topic in General Mechanical
i think he mean the hot air pipe to the air box. ah, remove the filter, unbolt the rear half of the exhaust.... get some bendy pipe and make some induction from the front into the stock air box (without filter). if your worried about bugs and stuff add some mesh. as far as emissions gear i removed mine when i put a weber carb on. there is a pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold around to the side of the intake manifold, i can only assume that this one adds exhaust gas into the intake, both of mine where totally gummed up so they weren't doing anything anyway. if your really keen you could pull the manifolds of and take the flap put of the exhaust manifold that restrics the flow.. i CBF going to that much effort personally. check the plugs, if its running properly don't worry about replacing the leads, advance the timing to at least 15degrees BTDC (8 degrees is std i think). maybe change the oil and flush the radiator/fill with coolant if it hasn't been done recently. you can probaly get a weber (32/36) carb and adaptor plate for 100-150 for a used one. Doesn't matter if it leaks a little air or the jets are worn/too big because you will just be holding it flat. a carb should add upto 10hp, mine works really well with the bigger exhaust, the complement each other if you know what i mean. edit: keep your heater, for additional cooling if necessary. also a electric thermo fan will add slightly more power but will mainly improve the response. it can also be used when you drop the 4ag in. -
they are like 10 bucks arnt they..? might see if i can get hold of one today, seeing as I'm going into town. failing that... someone should have them in stock. really shitting me off good thing the 4ac has no compression just keep rolling at an intersection and let the cluch go at 2 km's and whey she goes...

hey, from time to time I'm getting extreamly poor fuel economy and a very bad idle, not just a rough idle like it normally does but a surging kind. also when i go to stop and there is no throttle on it will just miss idling and stall. it isnt always like this and I'm thinking that the problem maybe the needle and seat sticking on..?? other peoples thought on this..? my old man had a simerlar problem with his old thunderbox.. i took the top of the fuel bowl off and the level was aprox half way (without the float obviously) i sprayed some carb cleaner down the throttle to cause is had a lot of sludge.. i have also disconnected the secondary and zippie tied it shut cause i have a tenancy to holdah, and it wont rev well past 4-5 thousand.. hehe..

what sort of tools have you got..? spray gun, compressor, welder/grinder etc..? in most cases i vote to fix rust holes by cutting and welding new metal in. if you don't have a welder and welding skills it maybe a better option to clean up all the rust and treat it then use fiberglass. its really upto you, metal will last longer.

How are you searching..? are you looking for 20v silver top or are you looking under ae101 or what ever model they are..? If you really get stuck then your Toyota dealer will be able to get them, genuine Toyota parts are usually superior to most general aftermarket brands as far as quality as conserned.
