  1. Hi It sound like a retarted question but i just bought a rock stock Phillips casette player from a 1981 ke55/50 for $5 It looks like this I'm trying to hook it up to my 1977 Ke30 Does the wiring loom from my car clip into player or am i going to have to make modifications? Thanks *EDIT How about just a wiring diagram of the tape player? can't seem to find information about it
  2. Have you taken a look at the heater hose tap? There is a cable that connects it up, so its best to take a look, but the chances of the cable snapping is unlikely to impossible. The tap might have stuffed its O rings.
  3. I'm actually looking for an aluminium automatic radiator for a KE30 with three cores for under $200 I know i ask for alot but can't i enjoy my 70's econobox in the summer for less than the cost of rego?
  4. Conflicted about what fuel to use In the handbook for my ke30, toyota recommends 90 octance fuel. Everybody i've talked to says fuel qualities has changed since the 70's and todays 91 is bad for the old donk. So everbodies vouching for 98 and the timing is set for it. Call me insane but i think i got more km's from 91 fuel. What fuel do i use? What does everybody else do?
  5. 4k is easy to get and putting the donk into the car takes one afternoon 5k if you can get one 7k for dat torque
  6. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay I'm not paying out the ass for a 1.6 litre RA28, because i think the TA22's looked cooler anyway. However ive seen an RA28 recently come up for 1200 bucks with only 2 bidders and hours left on the listing (unfortunately for me it was interstate) My dad told me one thing to remember about buying a classic, he said you will never loose money if its either a coupe or a V8 or both. I hate my KE30 because its a poor example of a Corolla but i got it at the right price that justifies the car, ive seen people successfully SELL KE35's for upwards of 5 grand because its missing a set of doors, but at heart its got a 1.2 or 1.3 litre dinky donk that struggles pass100 km/h.
  7. Did anybody buy one of the latest issues of Unique Cars? i wanted to buy it but had no money at the time and unfortunately when i wanted to buy it they already went to the next issue Specifically, it had a Japanese Buyers Guide that did valuations and reviews vintage JDM and its subculture and wandered if anybody could upload it Heres a picture of the front cover that i managed to salvage, i think it was issue 372
  8. Hi Clapped Out Wow, easier job than i expected, why didn't i fix it sooner? i can see what you mean now that you're putting names on things Heres where i am atm Looking at this plate, do i just untighten this screw i see and yank the whole thing out? *EDIT yeah, now i see why i didn't do it sooner The whole thing is awkward to get out, destroyed my rubber seals in the firewall (perished from age, handling them broke them apart) and its still going nowhere. Any suggestions to getting it out?
  9. Hi One of my heater pipes have corroded and leaked coolant allover my carpet At my school, we have oxy torches, can fix it in 2 seconds What is the easiest way to take out the heater in the least steps possible? don't really want to fix it atm because ive disconnected it for now but its really cold in the morning and at work in the evening so i feel i don't have a choice Pic related, my new carpet colour, dunno how to fix this but I'm laying a floor mat over it The offending pipe, this buttmunch ruined mah carpet
  10. Awesome I used to own a vr commodore wagon, i hated it because it looked gooby as but when i went to a subaru liberty sedan to a ke30 4 door, i actually miss folding up that rear bench for an extra 1/2 metre or so of space
  11. Slap a motorfix sticker on it and those meshies and you'll become an overnight e-celeb ;)
  12. Nice score, only paid $500 too for my ride but you quickly learn thats what they're worth lol Is it a manual or an auto? What issue did you get on the road? my car needed a whole top end rebuild and rebuilt cooling system to drive OK
  13. ʞ©$ɟ yeah thats cool mate Ive always loved the old muscle cars -- how much did you get it for?
  14. G'day guys I was looking at my ke30 buckets and thought that tombstones and lap seatbelts would make a cool old school interior style thats unique Anybody done this before? Also were there ever bench seats for these cars? that would be my dream for ultimate classic styling EDIT: Found what i mean, like HK Monaro seats -- no headrests
  15. IMCDB The only website you'll ever need for this question ever EDIT: hell, just for the fun of it; in Soul Mates the Kiwi spies drive a blue Ke20 while performing espionage in Australia (funny aussie show but it was a bit far out there)
  16. Just be glad it wasn't a K motor in that, lol Anyway, nice flat front, here in SA if you have paperwork you can just as easily register it no problems. Dunno how it works in Victoria Goodluck!
  17. Wish i could drive cars like that on the road. So much personality but too much cop bait Looks like a beauty how much did you get it for? any moar pics?
  18. So whats happening with the 5k + 5spd? Love to see this finished
  19. I'm looking at other corollas and I'm starting to really like the ke38 wagon What are the differences between the Ke30 and 38? ie, boot space size in litres, wheelbase, feature difference etc. Are ke38's useable as wagons or are they underpowered? Give me some insight, because in the future I'm planning on buying a 38 because people don't usually like wagons and sell them on the cheap but i see wagons as infinitely more useful than sedans
  20. What would non standard tyres do to engine temperature? I'm curious because my rear tyres aren't actually standard Radiator cap is fine, waterpump replaced, thermostat replaced and ignition timing played with. The only two things in my head have to be either radiators playing up or engine block needs a flush, which i will need to pay someone to do.
  21. Crap, just discovered the same problem in my 30 Found it when clearing space in my boot, and we were getting heavy rain just a week ago My boot lid lip is rusty, my seals aren't stellar but should be adequate. Thinking about making drain holes to avoid it again because no money for new seals Sometimes i wish i had a station wagon
  22. Awesome! but remember I'm running an Auto, do you reckon the trans fluid will go through it correctly? What mods will i have to do and where can i get hoses? could you tell me about what you did?
  23. Alright, some updates since the rebuild 2 months ago The engine has been running fine now but during 30-40 degree days it comes very close to redlining meaning its fragile doing highway speeds in that weather . On cool 30 degree days its fine and the radiator does its job very well, cooling down the coolant quick when i turn it off and dropping the temperature at calm speeds (up to 80km/h) but heats up quickly during high speeds (90km/h or higher), which forces me to do a maximum speed of 80 wherever i go which is unacceptable leading me to believe something in the cooling system is still not completely functional. A couple of reasons i think of this (brace for retardation because I'm not an expert) is due to my car being an auto, its third gear feels 1:1 with engine RPM and i feel as if the engine is working too hard for the speeds I'm going. Another reason is previously i was using E10 fuel before i found out not to run 3k's with it so i switched to 91 octane which i feel has made my engine work better. Previously i wanted to get a new radiator, but seeing that they're $300 for a new-old stock one it might be a last resort measure. I did recall however not flushing my engine block when i had the engine apart which may have blockages causing these issues. Any ideas? Does anyone know how to flush an engine block?
  24. Ke55 Liftbacks are probably the best looking corollas ever made :) Like Ke30 and 55 sedan parts are relatively interchangeable 50's and 55's should be the same
