  1. Unless it took a sensor with it? check for any error codes to see what sensor is throwing up a code.
  2. yeah id go with some sort of exhaust heatsheild.
  3. nice! great bunch of guys there. They even machined me up a custom spacer for my coilovers a few yrs ago. Not what they usually do, but i gave them a sketch of what i wanted (essentially a thick washer) and they were happy to do it for me.
  4. Did you damage the ground stap on the engine at all? if you put the oil pressure wire directly to ground, does the light go out?
  5. updates! everyone loves updates. Well after my woes with the cooling system, all has been well, added a few additional hose clamps for good measure. I adjusted the ignition timing and gave the carby a good clean, and I'm very happy with the performance now. its not fast, but it gets around nicely. ive been driving it abit as a daily drive, and its great. and in order to eliminate an annoying bearing noise, ended up having to change the rear wheel bearings, and the front pasenger side wheel bearing. chagned the diff, gbox and transfer oils. And now it drives silky smooth. Have completed 2 camping trips in the last few weeks. Went to lake moogerah at easter, and weekend just gone went to moreton island, had an absolute blast. Car performed great at both, no dramas at all, even fully loaded up it just charged along the beach. still running the standard road tyres, on dodgily sprayed black wheels. with 16psi in the tyres it had plenty of grip to go anywhere. so before next trip i will try and do the following: -Fit my fishing rod holder (the u bolts don't fit around the bull bar, have to think up something cleaver here...perhaps just bend u bolts) -find a cheap cd player/stereo to fit for tunes. -properly mount my new fire extinguisher -change rear brake shoes and front brake pads, and adjust rear brake drums to suit. I'm looking at buying a set of roof racks and a basket for the roof, just to put light bulky things (bedding etc), and interestingly they actaully make them for my high top! I just gotta check that ~280mm of height, but i think its all good. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/Vehicle_SUZUKI_Sierra_Page_1_System_Aero-Silver-RL280-R--Gutter-Mount-2-bar_3769_4158.aspx Downside is they cost $380 just for the roof racks......but they seem to be pretty well made, and they are aluminium so will be nice and light. Then there are a few aluminium baskets on ebay that go for around $150 or so. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-1-3m-CAR-4WD-ROOF-RACK-LUGGAGE-CAGE-BASKET-CARGO-CARRIER-BOX-ALUMINIUM-bl-/130785222380?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e73681eec That would do me i think, my mate and i got away with just the back of the drover for stuff on moreton weekend, but only just! a few light bulky things up there, and we will have heaps of room in the back for longer trips. anyway a few photos from the recent trips. after a bit of mud bashign at lake moogerah a few from moreton
  6. Also its good to double check incase it has been shaved before.
  7. Some dickhead doing drifting/burnouts in my neighbour hood last night. i know the corner they drift, and admitedly...its a nice corner! but yeah......pretty ordinary, considering its got houses on one side, and concrete on the other side. I didnt see him but by the sound it was an RB engine (so persumably skyline). I don't understand the logic, i wont pretend i don't enjoy a spirited drive in the mountains, but drifting a neighbourhood at 1030pm? This kind of idtiot is making it hard for the rest of us. yeah crush his car.
  8. I think the problem is, we don't have the power to do anythign about it. so you just gotta work with the system, do your best to not get done. I mean i drove around my ke70 which had questionable mods on it for many years, got pulled over plenty of times, never once had my bonnet opened and the worst i got was a defect for a steering wheel that i knew was not ADR approved, didnt argue with that, took it and i was on my way again. Yet then you hear stories of other people, drive out their driveway and all of a sudden they got a court appearance. gotta wonder what the full story is. Yes the laws are getting tighter and tighter, but be smart about the way you go about things do your best to comply (cops love mod plates, and mod plates are cheap), and keep your uncomplied items on the down low. As for driving like an idiot and crusing cars, the laws sound scary, but just keep it sedate and you won't have a drama. I bet the people that have had their cars squashed were absolute ratbags. The really scary part in all of this, is how impossible it is to find out the rules, everytime you ring DOT you get a different answer, the only real way to get a good answer is to speak to an engineer and get it in writing. Push comes to shove if you have a letter from an engineer that sais your car is good, you got nothing to worry about, and if the engineer was wrong, its the engineer that will get busted, as he was the subject expert. get pulled over, cop challenges you, rip out a folder wtih some documentation proving your innocense, the cop is going to take a different stand on both you as a person and the car in question. I had a folder in my ke70 with my mod plate documentation and some print outs of the rules on certain things (the modification guide etc). never had to show it to a cop, but was ready.
  9. I'd hope that would bee seen as unwillfully. I think it would be fairly easy to show you spun the wheels by mistake. Hillstart in my drover in the pouring rain (with new tyres) results in uncontrollable wheel spin if your not careful, if i got done for that, id fight it for sure. On a side note, How many people die of people going through red lights? compared to hooning? i reckon every 2nd time i am at lights someone goes through a red light. If they changed it so that if you got caught going through a red light, 6 points $2000, and the car crushed the second time you did it. Think about how many cars would be crushed? and how accidents wouldn't happen cuase people stopped? And how many voters you would piss off? can't do that now can we.
  10. Are you refering to this? http://cdn.speedhunt...an-Sunny-06.jpg if so thats very cool, but will actract attention. Raise it to (100mm at the absolute minimal point), fit smaller flares, fit tyres that sit flush the edge of the wheel, not stretch, and get rid of the writing on the tyres. Make sure the width and track changes suit the car (that car is miles to wide), and make sure the exhaust is quiet. And you will have yourself a car that will blend in. That what you want to do if you mod a car, jump out for people that know what it is, but blend in with everyone else to a cop. do all the above, and you can have 500hp under the bonnet and noone will look twice. My brother just bought himself an R33 skyline, very clean. standrd R34 GTT wheels, looked very nice. (has a few general mods, exhuast, intercooler etc) but overall it was an under the radar car. Within the first week he painted the wheels matt black, and put a plush toy hanging off the rear tow hook. around $25 worth of "mods" In my oppinion those 2 mods have taken the car from 'clean car that wont get a 2nd look', to a definite target for the boys in blue. One faulse move (ie driving through the city at 3am), and he will get the book thrown at him i reckon.
  11. Make the car quiet and look tidy and you wont have a problem. There are rules on wheel width and wheel track modifications which are quite clear (one of the few things that are clear), if you intentionally put on bigger wheels that you know are illegal, then you run the risk of being tagetted. Unfortuately the government is playing fun police, and doesnt seem to be able to distinguish between hoons and car enthusiasts. Public perception etc. Also the fact that modificatiosn are better than standard doesnt seem to come into it either (from a legal point of view) so you can't use that in your defense. I belive you can do whatever mods you like, and get it engineered/regod as an individually constructed vehicle (like kit cars), but the costs involved here is astronomical. (not worth it unless you are building a car from scratch).
  12. How are you going to attach the bigport manifold to a 20V? it doesnt just bolt on. You're going to need a custom adaptory type thing, and if your going to do that you should just make a custom intake to keep your quads! ever done any fibreglassing? its pretty easy, and pretty fun. I'd be doing something like this given the chance. I stole it from this thread http://www.ae86drivi...intake-on-a-20V which talks about puttin ga GTI intake on, with some adaptor plate that SAMQ makes.
  13. Problem is can the stocko plenum handle pressure? Unless its made of a composite or aluminium, i suspect not. keeping the ITBs for turbo would be awesome, but yeah gonna need a plenum. most, if not all, turbo 20vs ive seen have had some sort of custom made plenum.
  14. Converting an engine to EFI is a very interesting task, but its pretty tricky. and the only way to do it really is to for for a programable ecu, as any ecu you fudge to work on it just wont work perfectly. What ECU do you plan to use? if you are doing engineering, perhaps the megasquirt ecu is a viable option.
  15. Welcome welcome! what sort of car do you own? A good place to start is the FAQ, http://www.rollaclub.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page It probably needs to be updated, but there is still alot of information in there.
  16. Just remember that the 4age NEVER came in anything other than an ae86 when it comes to RWD corollas (in australia at least) the 4ac came in the ae71, which is pretty simliar to a ke70 (you can put ae71 stuff into a ke70 to mount a 4ac/4age) So essentially a 4age in anything other than a ke70 or an ae71 is custom engine mounts, gbox mounts and tailshaft, wiring and fuel system. It's welding time.
  17. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/car-enthusiasts-fear-being-caught-in-hoon-net-20130414-2html.html This is one of the better articles i have read on the subject. Grinds my gears like no tomorrow. This country is so over regulated they are losing control of their own regulations, and its the end user that will get affected.
  18. Yep i sure did! So who's is this poor looking corolla? It's parked up next to the golf course in wynnum, and its hit something pretty hard in the front. has a red P plate. Spotted it on saturday, and drove past this morning and its still there.
  19. That is nasty!! well if you got that far yourself, then you can do the rest! grab another cam and chuck it in, do your tappets and your done. most people can't give away 4ac's so if you can get a complete motor to steal the cam from you should get it fixed for a hundred bucks or less.
  20. Ive seen this a few times in wynnum, i love it!
  21. I just merged the threads together and threw the photos in your first post. Awesome car!!! must go like a rocket.
  22. hmmmm you tried boss wreckers? they used to have quite a few old cars. alternatiely this guy is selling a whole 4k http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/65059-4k-manual-parts-4agze-mr2-ecu/
  23. Why do you specifically need aftermarket ones? Surely a wreckers would let you take the head studs out of an old corolla engine, thats what i would be doing.
  24. I tried to do what you are doing with the commondore airbox, but gave up after about 15mins. Nice work for continuing! hah Should come up nicely.
