fare enough. I couldn't give my ke70 cross member away, thew it in the bin.
-
From the advert it is a mount that fits into a KP61, which would have a K series engine. So i reckon if you get a ke70 cross member you will be able to bolt your 4age in using those mounts.

gorilla glass is great, till you drop it. smashes VERY easily. smashed my htc one x l twice now, its been decomissioned as repair costs are too high. my old plastic face htc, i can drop it on anything, and it will bounce back for more.

I think the engine conversion is going to be less than half of the work required in making the thing a decent sort of sports car.

People trying to use things other than actual cameras to take photos or videos of important/memorable things Went to a wedding on saturday, picture this. bride and groom almost at the 'I do' bit, lady in about the second row, sort of half stands up, pulls out her Ipad, and proceeds to gesture the bride and groom to look her way for a photo. A freakin Ipad. and not just an ipad, but an ipad in a fold out case, so she was holding up somethign about as big as an A3 sheet of paper, in a church, trying to take a photo, by touching the screen "Capture" "button". Proceeded to do simliar things at the reception, walking around taking various photos with her A3 sized contraption. GGYYYAARRRRR!!!!! Coulda bought a $100 camera, and take much better photos!

Looking For Some Help/parts/info.

Sounds like an odd reason to do it. I reckon it be more trouble than its worth. What about the firewall where the steering column goes through? what about the stuff behind the dash that the steering column connects to? simliar for the pedals. i reckon to do it properly you would need to cut out standard firewall, weld in firewall from a RHD car. which i dunno if thats even legal given that the chassis number is on the firewall? Might as well just ship a RHD car over from another country i reckon... -
pPending your cashola situation, just properly rebuild it? New pistons and rings, new big end bearings. Do conrods care what bore they are in if they have new pistons, piston rings, and big end bearings? Might be a question for the machine shop that you get to hone the block.
-
Little red spirit, I don't think you realise but that dash was exactly the same as the dash used in initial D.

Are people actually paying the price people are asking for ae86s on ae86dc? pretty mcuh any ae86 that might pass a RWC is over $6000. 4ac, rust, cut springs, lock diff A fully tricked out jdm ae86 delivered to my door is around $12000.. yes $6000 is a lot extra, but when you add up the mods, you wont build it for $12k.

yeah i used whatever you get a supercheap took a few goes to get something reasonable. After that i just took it to a hydraulic shop after i had bent it into shape and said "flare this". 5 secs and its done.

Two Door Conversion - Engine Bay Tubbing..
ke70dave replied to chrisfindlay's topic in General Mechanical
hah damn straight! there was a guy around heres omewhere who was putting panel van doors (they are longer than sedan doors) into a sedan. Was moving the B pillar back, not sure what he was going to do with the big hole behind B pillar. The easiest way to get a 2 door coupe that looks sorta like a ke70 in australia is to buy a T18! -
how about a tyre fitter in the mines? http://mycareer.com.au/jobs/eyre-peninsula-area-sa/mining-oil-gas/mining-maintenance/8781265+tyre+fitter.aspx?RefineUrl=%2fsearch%2fjobs%2fSA%2fport-augusta-and-eyre-peninsula-sa%2f%3fs%3d500%26sf%3d3&utm_source=Indeed&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Indeed $40/hour! New environment, could lead to something else.

I really do like the AE92 in the hatch. Doesnt take alot to make them look real good!
-
Why do the wheel bearing gods hate me? Both the subi and the Drover have stuffed wheel bearings. Drover was 70bucks for the pair of rears, subi is $200 bucks for the front pair!!!

I have seen that thing somewhere along time ago. I reckon its been a concept for sometime. At least the "leaning" idea has anyway. -

Where are you located? and how far have you got on your own? -
If i was in the market for scrap metal for fixing rust sections, i would ring up a wrecker and ask how much they want for a bent unusable front guard off any car. I'd hope it would be free, as who else is going to buy it? I have previously fixed a few rusted panel sections using an old door, worked pretty good. But i was only dealing with bits that coudnlt be seen easily. if i was too fix rust secions on the outside of the car, that was a funky curvy shape, i really would try and cut the exact same peice from the exact same car and weld it in. Easier to get it looking OEM. As altezza said, zinc coating wont do anything once you have welded/sanded it. best to just use normal scrap metal, and make sure you use etch primer and proper paint once you are done.

Very nicely done mate. I like how you decided to rebuild the whole thing rather than put up with problems continually. You will end up with a great reliable car! the colour is pretty cool,
-
well here is one in a ke20. http://performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67280248-1UZFE-KE20-Take-2 So you would have a little bit more room than the ke20, and a bit less room than a ke70. either way your gonna need to get out the angle grinder and welder.

Yes there is. dimmer switch might have failed as well, i had to bypass it in my old ke70.

Enkei Center Caps...ke70 Stupid Question, But...
ke70dave replied to E70's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I think you woudl be hard pressed to find original ones. But you might have some luck getting some gineric ones from a tyre shop? -
Either way its a pretty good backyard effort i reckon, and i suspect would work well!

Very cool setup. I had noticed when playing with a timing light on older engines that the mark jumps around. never occured to me it would be because of hte slack in the chain/points/dizzy setup!! I'm not convinced that spark plugs for wasted spark would be any different to normal spark plugs?
