Sticky Tyres On Stock Rims- What's Available??
ke70dave replied to altezzaclub's topic in Automotive Discussion
4" is rediculously small.. why not find something in 6" wide, but has the correct offset. you might even find new tyres on those ones you are a big improvement. -
sweet mother, i didnt even look at the date.

Sticky Tyres On Stock Rims- What's Available??
ke70dave replied to altezzaclub's topic in Automotive Discussion
I have the federal 595 RSR on the subi atm, which is sorta a semi slick apparently, but it has a treadwear of 140. great tyre i reckon, and my 16" ones were only $150 each. but i don't think they sell them in 13". -
Sticky Tyres On Stock Rims- What's Available??

the toyo R888 is INCREDIBLE under all circumstaces....except wear. They have a treadwear rating of 100 i think. Ive tried it on an turbo rx7 (185/60R13) and ive driven my mates Westfield kit car with R888 (205/50R13 i think). Amazing tyres. As you say, they cost a fortune though. Its just a 4k powered corolla yeah? i woudlnt be spending that much on tyres..... I had the kumho ke31 a few yrs back, i was impressed with it, especially in the wet, cheap too, do they come in stock sizes? -
Right updates, everyone loves updates. Picked up my new manifold on sunday, it is off a coil sprung model (1997 ish) so its in great condition. i had to swap everything over to the new manifold (carby, thermostat, a few other no idea what they do vacuum contraptions). Had to make a new carby-manifold gasket, as well as a new thermostat gasket. Bolt it on last night, and she runs! and no coolant leaks! Idle up doesnt appear to work, but it idles fine at ~800rpm even when its cold. So that can wait. its got a stupid auto choke in it, which is a wax thing, which apparntly have a happit of not working...ever. I am considering just running a vacuum line from the manifold to the interiour.....with a tap on it. Manual idle up :P I also had a leaking rear brake slave cylinder, replaced one side last night (other side was difficult to get too in garage, and it wasnt leaking...). And i bled the brakes to see if they would bleed up to a nice pedal. Brakes feel a bit squishy still, so i think ill bleed them again tonight. I might also need to adjust the rear brake shoes. they are are worn a bit, and are miles away from the drums.... So tonight i think ill take it for its first drive in a few months! and really my first drive of a working car.... Then hopefully i will give it a decent underside clean and degrease with my high pressure sprayer, and book it in for a RWC next week!! Then its just change the gbox, transfer case, and diff oils for good measure.

By the photo it looks like you have additional flares though.

http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/australian-surgeon-sues-google-over-bankrupt-autocomplete-20130122-2d480.html you know what is ironic about this. now that there is a news story about him, google will find this news story and suggest searches since there will be webpages with the three words “guy hingston bankrupt” I reckon he has just made his problem a whole lot worse…

unlucky reed, howd you lose license? Id never been to this downshift thing untill the weekend, i was suprised at the huge turnout. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon. Not sure what my $5 went towards though.

Engine Not Turning Over After Certain Amount Of Time
ke70dave replied to pelebellz's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
a quick test... -when you get home from work, turn off the car, close all the doors, turn off all the lights etc -remove positive battery terminal from battery. -put multi meter on to current/amps mode -put one multi meter terminal on the posivite battery terminal, put other one onto the positive lead you have just removed. -if you get ANYTHING other than zero amps, you have something draining your battery. I had simliar dramas with you, battery always going flat, turned out the little switch that turns the brake lights on was stuffed, and my brake lights were continually on. also, 1993 corollas don't beep, id say you have something aftermarket beeping, that is quite possibly the source of your problem. -
Get some picks up mate, quite impossible for us to give you an idea based on a few words.

I sold that car with a fuel pressure guage in the engine bay, 40psi is about what it was at idle. Sounds like you have fuel supply issues. Id be checking anythign fuel related to make sure its in good working order. I once had a fuel pump that seemed to overheat, would work fine for 20mins, then stop working, and if you waited for ~10mins, it would work again for another 20mins. Persumably the 10mins was enough of a break to "fix" the fuel pump. never figured that out, but replaced that particular pump and never had a drama.

I'd say 98% of people on here are located in Australia. As for the price, going on only the info you give, id be going towards the free end.
-
i thought there was some 4ages with the alternator on one side of engine, and some on the other. FWD vs RWD maybe? as far as i can remember they were interchangable though.
-
I got a couple of photos at the downshift meet today. It looks pretty good with the new paint!
-
That's awesome looking. Add about 50mm to the wheel offset and put the right size tyres on and it.... The mx5 that is on previous page.

Its the engineer in you. Because as an engineer you know that you can do pretty much everything better than everyone else. Improvements can always be made. Its a curse:(
-
Give it a go, and if you screw it up, sand it back and have another go! my brother just got a few panels done by: Dave Roberts Smash Repairs 15 Thorne Street, Wynnum QLD 4178 (07) 3396 2471 Cheapest quote around, and its not a bad job

crazy! So a turbo silvia is legal, yet a 1.6L n/a is not. by redbook my car is 1300kg, so thats 123kw/ton so it passes...just.
-
Thats interesting, i didnt know that. Where is this 125kw/ton measured? or what does transport considered a reliable sorce of info of the cars power output? and weight? my subi is quoted at 1270kg, and its power rating (from wikipedia....) is 160kw (persumably "at the engine") Which doesnt make the cut @ 128kw/ton.
-
How are you allowed to drive a turbo on p plates? and don't the cops immediately pull you over once they see the p plates? looks like a nice car though.
-
yeah ive no idea on SA engineering laws. In qld it might even be covered under the same modification plate. (4age and 7afe).
