I like the HDR one! That photo looks quite natural, alot of HDR photos look quite unnatural. If you hadnt told me i don't think i would have noticed it was a HDR image.

I think the only T engine we got was the 3t in the t18? And there arent many of them compared to how many K motors we got. what are your experiences brownevan?

Right well this car is turning into a right pain in the ass :P parts replaced and work done so far: -head reconditioning, all top end gaskets replaced (VRS kit) -new radiator ($290.....) -fixed coolant pipe behind water pump (the one in the previous photos, i ended up fitting some copper/brass hose fittings in place of the rusted pipe) -new radiator hoses and hose clamps -new overflow bottle -new small steel water pipe near radiator -new radiator cap -rebuilt front diff with new seals and new grease and oil (like $300 here :S) -new spark plugs -new rubber things that stop the doors from flying open -oil/oil filter Around $1200 in parts/fluids so far, head reco costing ~$475 incl vrs kit. All new stuff, no wreckers part. Bolted it all back together on saturday got to the point of putting the airbox thing back on, fill it up with water, and water is pissing out the water pump weep hole!!! So ordered a new water pump on Saturday, it will arrive tomorrow hopefully ($46 incl express postage). Half pulled it appart but got annoyed so gave up! I have pretty much replaced or fixed everything in the coolant system....this is why you use coolant and not water! Maybe this weekend i will get it running :) Oh i need to track down a radiator shroud, found one for $39 plus post. So might get that if i can't find a second hand one for reasonable price/location. Total current cost is $3400 incl purchase of car itself. expected another $300 on brakes and misc other bits for RWC (brakes kinda don't work at all). there is a leak on either the gbox or transfer box (there is oil everywhere....), but ill degrease the hell out of it soon and see if i can pinpoint the leak. So probably close to $4000 when I'm done. which sounds expensive, but alot of the cars for sale are asking $4500 and sound like they need a bit of work. Good news is it will be a brand new engine (from the headgasket up) when I'm done. Let the fun continue, proposed camping trip to bribie island as soon as i finish, so i has a goal to work towards!

It was white! i caught the reflection down the side of the car at the lights, not the slightest dent in the passenger side doors. very nice looking car!

I was over the north side tonight (somewhere near chermiside shops) and i pulled up next to a freakin awesome lookign ke20 wagon (ke26?). it was sooo shiny, even had white on black original number plates. An old guy sitting in the drivers seat, i gave him the thumbs up and he reaches across to wind down the passenger window, i yell out something about admiring his car, and he turns back and sais 'shes a 74' mate, 100% original'. and gives me a wave. wife looks across and sais "you like that car? looks old"

Very cool. I really do like what you have done to fit the intercooler in, rather than just chop that front peice out, you moulded it around the cooler. Nice!

Its interesting that the colour is distinctive, as i walked into the paint shop and just asked for the color code on the VIN plate. But it is certainly a little different than any other ke70 blue i have seen.

And this is what i was afraid of, "daves old car"..... should have parted it! haha Nah good to see someone enjoying it! To be honest there isnt much of my car left. Just my dodgy rt114 corona headlights and some backyard spray painting.

Ban On Young People Driving High-Powered Cars Mooted
ke70dave replied to altezzaclub's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Its interesting you don't hear about many people in proper modified cars dieng. There are plenty of old cars with sr20 turbos for examlpe getting around that would be heaps faster than anythign you ever see on the news (imprezas, commondors) So its not the real enthusiasts getting into trouble, its the morons with too much money and no idea how to drive getting into trouble. I guess people that build their cars are less likely to crash them as they know how much work has gone into them. -
been on reddit have we? :P

hmm time to trawl the internet for car photos! a few pointers to get you goin. you should decide on size and specs before you choose what it looks like, and also take into account the size tyre you will be buying, there are more options in 15" than 14" for example. for ae71: You want 4 x 114.3 wheel stud PCD. standard wheel size is 13x5.5 i think. with 155/75/13? tyres (something like that) 14" or 15" seems to be the go on ae71 Anythign more than 7" is a bit wide... I had 15x7 +13 offset with 195/50/R15 tyres and it fit quite nicely on somewhat non-modified guards. 14x7 is popular with 185/60/R14 tyres. there are an insane amount of wheels to choose from that fit this description, trawl the internets to find what they look like!

Ke25 Crossmember/rack Steering Options
ke70dave replied to CAKEYBOOTYDUMMYDONKEYS's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
edit: just read your post again. I see what you are doing now, especailly the steering. Why do you want to put the 86 cross member into the ke25? From a quick google the ke25 LCA is longer than the ae86 one, so if you are doing the cross memeber swap in order to fit the 86 LCA you might be going backwards a bit. this is pretty cool. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/57054-ke20-25-rack-pinion-conversion-guide-driving-well-my-car.html -
yeah it is the cost of the gas bottle that steers me away form gas mig, especially considering how often ill be using it.

I heard this on the news this morning. Quite possibly one of the most rediculous things i've heard for a while. A stock WRX isnt that fast anyway. A turbo diesel golf would give it a good run. He did say something about better training i think? making it compulsary to do driver courses if you want to drive performance cars or something?. I think this idea has merrit. Perhaps make it compulsary for everyone to do it though? -
There is no quicker way to piss of employees than with problems with their pay. My company is of the stance that they pretty much guaranttee pay is on time, and in return we guarantee to do good work for them. And everyone is happy because of this. They even had the pay roll lady go to work for a few hours on new years eve to transfer the pays (as they were due today, but would have been late if she did them today). I have worked in companies were there is always problems with pays, really gets employees off side! and creates unneeded tension in the company. i remember one company, an email came around that said "sorry pays are late again". guy next to me just stopped work, sent an email back that said "when you pay me ill keep working, and he went home". That got the pays happening very quickly.....

Gasless mig hey, perhaps i should get one of them for thin metal. My stick welder is awesome for thicker stuff, but man it makes a mess of thin stuff.

So a small update and a question for the board. playing with my newly aquired christmas present, that orange drill, i got enthusiastic and bought a wire wheel and had a bit of fun. now onto the problem. Does anyone reckon that a radiator shop will be able to sell me those steel inserts? they look like a standard size. And what do we think of this? This is where an o-ring sits and it sits inside the water pump housing. I'm wondering if i can just get that crack brazed.
-
We got one of those for wedding. Not used it yet.....suggestions ?
-
looks good! stupid question, what sort of welder are you using on that sort of metal?
-
If you are just after the bearing you can buy them new? They come with clutch kits but I have bought it on its own before.
