  1. On my ke70 with quad lights, i had the outside beams as H4 bulbs (both high and low beam) and the inside bulbs as seald beams (one filament) On low beamn only the outside 2 were on, on high beam all 4 came on (outside went to high beam, insude turned on and was angled high) and burnt holes in anything that would stand in its way. I suspect this is what is refered to as "dual high beams"
  2. what exactly does the condensor do? i had a blown one a few yrs ago, stupid car would idle perfectly, but would handle ZERO load. i coudl not get the car to move an inch, even rev and dump just stalled the engine. agreed on changing both the condensor and points (and adjusting properly the points). They are so cheap that its good to do them reasonably often, or at least adjust the points often. or get an electronic dizzy and throw the points in the bin :P
  3. Good news, just got a call from the machinest. Head checked out good, passed the pressure and flatness test. though wont be ready till next week :(
  4. oh i was just reading about that diahatsu scat/taft and the toyota blizzard. The blizard came with a diesel yeah? cool lookin cars. A mate of mine has a ~97 sierra, but its a soft top, great car, but man that soft top makes a racket on the highway. Glad i managed to get a hard top, and the high roof edition is a bonus, not to mention the lack of security in a soft top!
  5. yeah they are all jimnys in japan. For some reason they called the early ones sierras around here, and saumrauis some place else. i belive that huge antenna is actually a fishing rod.
  6. Greetings, I mentioned this a few weeks ago in the offtopic, but here is a few pics. Plan to get it on the road and take it camping! details: 1985 holden drover (rebadged suzuki sierra) 1.3L of overhead cam 2 valve goodness. 148000km, owned from new by my grandfather! zero rust, interiour is in good condition, just needs a few new rubbers here and there. my brother found the bull bar for free on gumtree, so slapped that on. looks good i think. Funky little lion bonnet peice. mirror tint on side windows and rear window (not sure why...) i have not actually driven it yet, as when i got it it had a blown headgasket and front diff seals needed replacing. but i went for a drive in it not long ago, seemed to go alright even with the blown headgasket. currently the head is off and getting a once over at the machinist, hope to get the engine back together this weekend. I rebuilt the diff last weekend, what a messy job! freaking 8hrs of playing with grease. grandpa drove it SSOOOO SLOOW the pistons and valves were chock a block full of carbon, i was littlerally scraping carbon off the piston with my metal ruler.....at least 2-3mm caked on! things to be done for RWC: -new front brake hoses (probably rears too) -new front pads and discs -new sump gasket and maybe rear main (doing the front main wtih the head) -steam clean the underbody as the stuffed diff seals flung grease and oil everywhere proposed mods: -A CD player! -some tyres that might actually grip something -An in car UHF, i have a giant antenna already. -deck out the rear with some sort of draws for storing camping stuff, see how that goes. -remove that mirror tint! Anyway a few shocking camera phone photos:
  7. They are up for sale for rediculous prices, but are they selling for rediculous prices? ive been keeping my eye on the ae86 market (carsales and forums) and there are ALOT of cars that have been for sale for months. some of the ones on carsales have been on there for years. I suspect if you showed them the cash at a reasonable price point they might bite.
  8. I was more refering to the changed speed limites up there. Apparntly alot of it is 60km/h now, used to be 80 unless you were in the little towns but from what ive heard the 60 zone has been extended.
  9. We gotta watch the speed while up there, mate of mine went last week and spotted a sneaky police man behind a tree.
  10. I think its good to see some traditional christmasy stuff still in all the commercialisation. And although alot of the christmas carols are somewhat biblically wrong or extrapolated.....at least the real meaning of christmas is still around. Turn off the TV, don't go to the shops (online christmas shopping woot!), and christmas is an enjoyable time. I put up christmas lights on my house this year:)
  11. Go to the cops, don't stuff about. There is that phone number you ring, police link or something. People seem to get into action once you mention a police report.
  12. My wife works with kids and the weirdest name she came across was. "Le-a" pronounced, "ledasha" So you actaully pronounce the "dash" as a part of the name.
  13. Any actual evidence the bearing is weak though?
  14. Whatever you do. Don't pick a normal name that is spelt weird.
  15. Good way to clean out the crank case!
  16. Corollas weigh a little bit less each day as the rust takes over.
  17. A point of interesting, all these fancy new cars with carbon fibre "pods" for the interiour/driver, all the race cars have bolt in cages. As you can't weld steel to carbon! This is my favourte photo in regards to bolt in cages. Zoom in ;) http://i35.tinypic.com/2ppneae.jpg
  18. what material did you get? I see they offer cold drawn seemless, cold drawn welded and Cro-moly.
  19. As others have said, very very nice car mate! it is the little things that make a car look good. Even those painted windscreen wipers make the car look 100x better. the 4ac is very underated, i bet with those mods it has some get up and go to it!
  20. It wont be light after he fits the hilux diff and that hopper stopper kit!!
  21. best way is to work it out yourself. what wheels you got on the car atm? figure out what size they are, punch them into this website: http://www.1010tires...tCalculator.asp and get the ruler out. Those sizes are quite rediculous. Standard ke70 wheels are 4.5" with +32. the 10" -12 will stick out an extra 114mm than that.
  22. I do recall seeing someone on here who had converted a 4afe to RWD. it was a ke20 wagon i think, possibly some guy called "Greenmac"?
  23. hmmm thats a FWD 1.6L 4afe. its pretty simliar to a FWD 1.6L 4age (VERY popular conversion in ke70), cept the 4afe has the distributer out the back of the engine, I'm not sure there is an easy solution to this.
  24. welcome mate. How much money you got? how much can you do yourself? what you want to use the car for? That is the difference between a 5k conversion, and a twin turbo LS1.
  25. Have we decided a time yet? I'd vote for it to end around lunch time at samford ~middday. that google link sais around 1hr 30mins of driving. so what if we met at that BP at around 830am. That gives 2hrs of stuffing at the various meeting points along the way which should be enough time for reed to fill up his radiator.
