Largest Capcity Engine For Ke25 Corolla In Qld
ke70dave replied to KE25_rolla's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Well depends on how much you can DIY the turbo kit. $5500 seems like a massive amount of money to blow for 200hp. Sure would be cool though. -
24/3.3 = 7.27L/100km Hot damn thats not bad at all! how heavy was your foot though? my old 4ag would get around 8 on normal city driving, but if i drove...er...enthusiastically...on say...a........windy road in the middle of knowwhere. i reckon it doubled the fuel usage.

Simliarly when i had a simliar controller on my car with the 4k, i turned it on at about 95 turned it off around 85. Though it pretty much never came on unless i was sitting in traffic for more than about 10mins. When driving normally the cooling system should regulate the temperature around 85 deg. Only when you stop you will see it starting to creep up above this.

any stamps on them? The offset can be measured, as well as the width. remmeber the width is measured from beed to beed. so the width of the rim is generally around 0.5" smaller than the overall width of the rim. (as the tyre sits inside the "Edge" of the rim)

Be a pionneer ;) I can't see it not working. though i dunno about having the number 1 runner almost twice as long as the number 4 one. That can't be good for carbys?

mmmm i do like new computer bits. did you buy an SSD? WWMH - my mate just bought a Westfield kit car, powered by a hot smallport 16V (cams and a wolf3d), AVO suspension and toyo R888 tyres. We took it for a spin through mt nebo on saturday. yeah pretty much no car i have driven compares to how much fun this thing is. Now to convince katrina i need one as well.

Nice work on posting up your research ryan! 300bucks is fairly reasonable to get everything covered.

what sort of parts? Any sort of consumables can be bought new from parts shops. -
very cool mate, what an achievement!

12a n/a or turbo? The only real downside to the borgwarners is lack of LSD options. To keep with the mazda theme you could modify a series 2 rx7 differential. they have disc brakes and have a factory LSD available. the factory lsd is pretty good too, clutch type thing. mate of mine has done a number of 11.4's on his series 2 diff (12a turbo), broke two axels in the last 5yrs or so, so its not bullet proof, but not bad for a standard diff. we have rebuilt the diff with new shims a few times to keep it spinning two wheels, but it cops some abuse thats for sure.

ah yes i worked at supercheap auto for a year or so maybe 5yrs ago. supercheap can pretty much get anything, especially with that rocket industries catalogue. unfortunately at the time i had no money to buy any of it :P though i did buy an exedy clutch and a few other bits and peices for my 4age conversion at the time.

I think the big thing is you need to get passionate about it. if you are the type of person that gets bored of an idea after 2 months, perhaps an engine conversion is not for you. especially these older cars/conversion, you gotta keep your eye out for months to track down parts. as you can't buy much of it new. I reckon from the day i bought my first conversion peice, to the day i got my 4age running, was around 2yrs. Didnt help i was poor as well.... But you just trawl the forums, ebay, wreckers, untill you find that illusive missing part for a reasonable price. And be prepared to be in the rain at the wreckers at closing time, ripping an ae71 crossmember out, as you know if you wait til lthe next day some other bugger is going to get it first!!!

ahh ca18det in a ke10. man that woudl be a rocket ship. well i have only had one experience with a turbo exhaust, it was an sr20det. i had 3" all the way, with 2 of the biggest mufflers i could fit in there and a SMB cat convertor, i think they were huricane, i went through the huricane catalogue at the exhaust shop and got him to order the biggest ones that fit, was a tight squeeze. (they were like 30" long and12" wide....) The result was an almost silent exhaust on cruise, but as soon as you opened up the throttle it sounded like your gineric SR. id do the same again on any turbo car i put an exhaust on i think.

What engine is in the ke10? I reckon fit the biggest muffler you can fit in.

I belive the answer to your question is no. its just a rotary dial, that goes around and around, and when it gets to 99999, it goes to 00000 next. Just rememeber you are talking about a 35yr old car, even 156,000kms is pretty good (~4500km/year), even 256,000 is pretty good! (~7400km/year). engines and driveline are easily replaced, its just interior, paint and rust that is a real pain.

oh, thats a considerable discount.

I saw a commondore and an astra come together the other day, astra blatently ran a red light. Commondore driver rightly so went off her tree at the astra driver. Now onto my what makes me happy.... I spent my weekend of rain getting XBMC (xbox media centre) running on my media pc, as well as XBMC remote running on my android phone. So i can control my media centre via my phone! (over wifi). Call me a nerd, if you will. but it works really well! and xbmc looks so nice and swish, much better than keyboard/mouse through windows explorere and vlc/winamp.....

Where do you work? ....and what else can you get.

So under "special vehicle interest" on the department of transport website, value of $10,000 4clr sedan type car (not a vintage) 1 year is $565 (12months) A normal car is like $650? or so if i recall correctly. not that much of a saving for such a stuff around. Most of your saving would be taken up in the yearly fee for whatever club you join? and going by this... http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/Registration/Registering%20vehicles/Street%20rods%20and%20vintage%20cars/Special_interest_vehicle_scheme_guide.pdf You can't really drive it anywhere.

The smell isnt good... run through rians list, but worst case you gotta change the clutch. good oportuniuty to do a bit of maintenance though. Rear main seal, cv boots etc.

Ring Randall from modplates.com.au, real nice guy and will tell you all you need to know. I've chatted to him a few times in the last year just about crazy proect car ideas. My mate got his sierra midplated for 1.3 Darby to 1.6efi and it was $120 I think.
