  1. Contrary to the Media's representation of a bit of rain, we arent all swimming.
  2. I like that new one by Seth Sentry, "room for rent" pretty catchy tune, and pretty funny lyrics!
  3. Mate that is 2 threads you have bumped up that have been in active for a very long time. This one not as bad as the september 2011 charade. Please check the dates before posting. if you are serious, ring the phone number.
  4. Don't make it too complciated! why not just get some of those water proof single incline fuse holders. Solder/crimp it in. wire tie it somewhere out of the way. Done!
  5. In 2007 i went to AGMF, now called Easterfest (music festival at toowoomba) Home icecream has always been a large sponsour of the festival for many years (still are i think) Anyway.....the point of my post is....I am somewhere in here... We sang that yelled and screamed that stupid damn song about 8 times i think that night before they were happy with the advert. and thanks to your post Irokin, it has been stuck in my head for the last hour!
  6. I would just drop the head off at a machine shoip and get them to check it out, they will machine it flat and clean it in their acid bath! Then you plonk it back on knowing that its in good condition.
  7. Have you had a go? If you can dream it, you can do it!
  8. So its a 1.4L carby engine, forget about the fact its a 6af. To go faster, you need to get more air and fuel in, make more of a bang, and then get all that exhausted turd air out again. If you can't find a carby adaptor to suit your particular engine off the shelf, it might just be a case of the 4afc one bolts right on with no or minimal mods. have you measured the carby bolt spacing between a 4afc and your 6afc? just because it is not listed in the redline catalogue, doesnt mean it doesnt fit. And if it doesnt fit, how close is it? its just a peice of plastic/steel with a few bolts in it, can you mod it to fit? or can you make one from scratch? As for the carby itself, you wanna make sure its jetted to suit your engine, or you will be going knowwhere. carby jetting is somethi\ng i am yet to play with, but there is alot of good information about how to tune them and change the jets etc. As for exhaust, i found some extractors on ebay that said both 4afc and 6afc, so theres a good start. then just head on down to any exaust shop, tell them to put on your new extractors and a nice 2" exhuast to suit, put a few mufflers in, its only 1.4L so having it blow your ear drums out doesnt mean its making more power. Camshafts are a good way to make a few more hp, sure most camshafts joints might not list your engine, but have you called any up? most make camshafts by regrinding your old one. so if you give them your old one (or one you buy from the wreckers), they should be able to make you something up for you. i was quoted around $180 to do the same to my little suzuki camshaft. note, that you should do all mods (especially exhaust and camshaft) before you get the carburetta tuned to suit. as once you change something you will need to get it tuned to suit again. Also don't expect monumental hp increases with the above, but do expect a much better free reving engine that will be much nice to drive it will make a good noise as well! Oh yeah, if you scrounge around wreckers for parts and DIY most of this yourself, it will be relatively cheap. but if you start paying people to do things (installing carbies, installing camshafts etc), the above mods may cost you upwards of 2000 bucks....
  9. Right so yesterday was not such a fun day. drove to work in the morning no worries at all, had to go pick up katrina from airport in the arvo, driving south over the gateway bridge notice the water temp getting a little high, figured must be cause ive got it at 100% throttle just getting it over the bridge..... Coast down the other side of the bridge, water temp still creeping up....get to almost the wynnum road exit, and water temp goes up to about 80% of guage, then instantly drops down to 30% and is slowly dropping....not good!! Pulled over, and i have popped a top radiator hose :( steam everywhere, but i think i caught it before i wrecked anything, no bubbles in radiator and is holding water.. Luckily i still don't have confidence in the car and thus carry my toolbox and 5L of coolant......standing out in the rain at 530pm in peak hour traffic on the side of a highway filling up a radiator in the pouring rain is not my idea of fun!!!....certianly not katrinas idea of fun either.... I reckon i have traced the problem too a cracked radiator overflow bottle, its cracked ~10mm from the bottom, so it only holes 10mm of water..., so i reckon once the water heats up in radiator, bit flows into the overflow, flows out the crack, when it cools down, radiator sucks in air, this air creates high pressure in the radiator hose, and thus it popped off. I thought the radiator hoses were a bit 'inflated' the other day. Thoughts on my theory welcome! So i will order a new overflow bottle (this one was new but cracked on installation....by my dad.....). and i will need some new coolant. Also this engine is far too slow, i'm going to look out for a weber or something to install. I't is the same carby bolt spacing as toyota K engines, so that makes it easier! so if anyone has a weber they want to sell to me...pm away. They want $170 for a cam regrind, so thats not tooooo bad i guess. and i found some extractors for around $200 on ebay (brand new), so thats another avenue to get a bit more HP.... the poor engine just does not rev at all, even if you flat it in 2nd gear, it doenst like going past 4000 before its really struggling, i think the pathetic carby and exhaust are to blame here. Exhaust is like 3/4" out the back!!!
  10. That looks pretty good! Out of curiosity what sort of pipe bender did you use? something a backyarder could aquire?
  11. It wont happen mate. It will proabbyl look worse than it does now. especially if you intend on painting it, that will just exadurate the dent. you can even buy brand new guards http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-COROLLA-GUARD-KE70-PANEL-VAN-81-84-/251092445186?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a7646a802 Reproduction....still....brand new!
  12. Theres a few creases there which will take a bit of effort to get out. Hammer and dolly will be your way forward i think. Gonna take alot of work to get it back to being straight again.
  13. Hello, what sort of 81 corolla? is it a ke70? though you say 1.8L, sounds like a 3t. What country are you in? Depends on what diff you have as to LSD options.
  14. that was pretty damn awesome. i think his excitement was justified!
  15. Did you read the part about the towing ratings on the rav4? 200kg more rating than my 1.3l Drover!!!
  16. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/56005/toyota-australia-towing-cautiously-with-new-diesel-rav4 nice one toyota!
  17. essentially if you take all the parts off an ae71 and all the parts off a ke70, the chassis itself is IDENTICLE. except for: if you have a manual ae71, there will be 2 small holes, and one ~30mm hole in the firewall for the hydraulic master cylinder. if you have a manual ke70 there will be a single hole for the cable clutch (not in the same place as the above holes, close) if you have an auto ke70 or auto ae71, i belive all these holes wont be there at all. (note, slanty cars have slightly different radiator support than flat front cars, mostly hole differences as far as i can know)
  18. Suprisingly yes! in 4th, not 5th.
  19. Pretty much anythign will be more helpful than your local repco. Have you tried jsut putting a WTB on all the forums you can find? 50bucks should cover a 25yr old alternator. even if you can find a stuffed one, getting it reco'd shoudl cost you ~$150 or so.
  20. Good news! RWC aquired as of this morning. passed with flying colours. Drove it to work, and it made it here! Even made it over the gateway bridge. First camping trip planned for 17th of march. will see if i can get to beerburrum state forest in the next few weeks though.. Got a noise in the front diff, I'm not convinced there is any oil in it. Bought some diff oil to change, will do that this weekend me thinks.
  21. I'm not sure how an ae101R is 'something different', but sure, good car. How good are you at swinging spanners? An imported half cut may be your answer. Swap the entire engine bay into your car. Bolt for bolt. nice and easy.
  22. Sorry its not tx3 (tx3's are for the ford lasers :S) Its bluebird tr-x I think its a series 3? of the bluebird that looks like a box, from the mid 80s. However.... The above setup works fine, i had it for years, but the angle of the tie rod end and the steering nuckle is not that great at static height. have a read of http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/archive/index.php/t-208.html the AW11/s13 one might be worth looking into. that "fantapants" bloke is pretty switched on, you might find him still active over at ae86dc.
  23. RA60 rack ends. Blubird TX3 tie rod ends
  24. ermmm....zero chance i would say. Just use yours as a template and guess the bits that are missing. Or find some cardboard and make your own template. also i'd suggest against MDF. any moisture on mdf and it balloons up and goes all fuzzy. Perhaps look at some marine ply wood. Also, Welcome to rollaclub! don't be afraid to start a members ride of your beast and throw up some pics of your progress.
  25. It could be a numeber of things i guess. I would basically start with diagnosis and hopefully you find a problem. -does the carby have a fuel cutoff solenoid? and can you hear it clicking with ignition? -check the cam timing above, if you have a compression tester give it a go just to confirm. -now id say its ignition timing, do you have a timing light? if so get it going and see how far out it is. does it sound a bit "throaty" when you get it going? a bit asmatic? perhaps the timing is way retarded. also is it really easy to turn over with starter motor? or does the engine struggle to turn over?
