  1. Near overrated. Lol. I'm sure it is. The best 'overrated' one I've seen in the flesh is Henry's (ke20me). I'd say it's worth substantially more than 5000. I doubt there's many, if any, unrestored KE10's in better nick than his in the country, and if I were chasing a minter, I'd be using his as a price benchmark. Immaculate original cars are worth a lot, but to a limited crowd. But if it's been modded, painted, hacked, etc, it's worth substantially less. There's a lot of overpriced KE10's out there at the moment on ebay etc.
  2. It will be expensive. The saddles are a stamped item, to fabricate would be tricky and your best bet would be to either keep looking at a wrecker, hit up a member for a spare (plenty of KE70 parts cars on here for certain) or just by the full whiteline item.
  3. They most probably could, but don't expect it to be cheap. Post a pic of the existing one that you're trying to replicate.
  4. no reason to take the mickey guys, he asked a reasonable and specific question. As far as brands go, you will really be limited by what is actually available, if you can find the 555 stuff, by all means take it. With the KE10's, you just take what you can get your hands on because nobody's making tie rod ends anymore. I have one of these pictured, I much prefer them to the tuning fork style that you hammer into the joint. They make an almighty bang when they release and the cheap ones are cast iron that will eventually fail. But they work.
  5. It's a quote from American Graffiti, George Lucas' first feature, before he did star wars. Great film. It's quite ironic the scene with the quote especially given its popped back into use... Haha gold. Too true.
  6. No it wasn't a dig, it was a good revival of an interesting old post.
  7. I'm intrigued... How did he even manage to drive it anywhere without auto trans fluid? My mate and I were working on a 1600 on the hoist. Forgetting it had an LSD, I was rotating the right rear drum checking adjustment and it other wheel was rotating, worked the other drum off and conked him on the noggin.

Keep in mind guys that a $200 buck deal in Australia might not translate to cheap in Malaysia, where Abby is from. Welcome to the forum!
  9. Yes it is. As mentioned you wont need to shorten tailshaft, but there are a couple of different output shaft splines so you may need to change the front yoke over.
  10. As one of only a few porsche owners on the RC I can tell you now, you may laugh at them but I know which on I'd take any day haha. And if they had any knackers they'd have no trouble giving you a run for your money! :lolcry: 'Boss car' is a great phrase, only if the user can name the movie it's from and the car that it was referred to in said movie! Wgmg is it's been weeks since reading this thread, just went through 20 pages and still haven't found enlightenment....
  11. So I sorted out a wire transfer via Commonwealth Setback. Very simple, just like a regular transfer. Email came through overnight to confirm payment received and they just wanted to check order specifics and delivery address. Hopefully ship tomorrow.
  12. On all counts, badmouthing is a nono. There is merit to people sharing positive experiences with workshops. But honestly, its dumb to have a nation wide list of workshops, and I don't particularly want to moderate it in the KE discussion section. But I would encourage all regional sections to start a recommended list like we have in SA, but only with the blessing of region leaders. Example here. This is watched carefully and any negative feedback is deleted. It's a very handy list though. rollaclub.com/board/topic/30334-sas-recommended-list/
  13. Perfect LOL, let us know how you go with that.
  14. 300 Stainless is notorious for cracking and failing on turbo manifolds. I wouldn't be running stainless, unless it was 409 or similar, and it's not that good for shiny. If you want shiny, go for an inconel coating.
  15. Coach bolts/carriage bolts. If you go to Coventry Fasteners or similar, you should be able to order stainless steel ones, it will be hard to tell the difference.
  16. Yeh I can't stand Gerry. He didn't just fail to get on the internets bandwagon, he actually wrote it off as a passing fad. What a lack of foresight... sucker. Anyways, just pulled the trigger on the Dunlop Direzza z1 ss, cheaper than advan a08s with almost identical performance results. Dave pmed me as he scored a set of Toyo t1rs for 200 each, which is a steal, but I rang around locally and couldn't get anything less than 1000 a set, fitted. Will keep you all updated on my progress, fingers crossed there're no issues.

Cool another Wagner. Nice. That some angle grinding without glasses going down, nice work! Haha. I spent 4 days in mad pain with a bit of crud in the eye... I was wearing glasses at the time.
  18. Yeh that sounds cheap, what about public liability? Will you have cover? Anyway, I'm certainly interested, if just to put the weekender through it's paces.
  19. First up, what size is your radiator? It may just be a little small. What sort of condition is it in? Are the fins all open and allow air flow? Are you running coolant? Although I've never had a problem with it on my K engines, are you sure you don't have trapped air (not a common issue) Given that it's easy and cheap to do, I would also suggest you replace your thermostat (even if tested) And as asked previously; what sort of gauge do you have, how old is it, is it mechanical or electrical, is it a quality item or OEM. Given that you aren't actually boiling, you might simply have a gauge that reads higher than reality.
  20. Fairly straightforward, the whiteline Kit has brackets that connect to the body and the control arm. You will need to drill holes to fit them but otherwise straightforward.. From an engineering aspect, the control arm bracket is rubbish. It'll hinge a lot through the bolted joint, and it's inherently not very stiff, so it wont be as effective as it first appears. Also, they are notorious for clashing with brake calipers when you run later model discs (ke20 items) I haven't fitted mine but I'm considering modifying it to use the blade style connection with rod ends for adjustability.
  21. I did see a comment about tyres getting fumigated on one site, but that was about it. I will ring as a matter of course though.
  22. The pics on the SAU thread show them in a stack, lashed together. haha... I suspect you and I share a similar opinion regarding Gerry Harvey.... What I meant was that the choice was the most exciting thing about Tirerack; I'm getting better tyres at 400 bucks saving, so price benefits were always inherent! Yep, there's definitely a lower limit on size/price range for tyres. Given the 13 inch tyres on the rolla were 500 bucks, and shipping from the states is ~250, I'd have to see a HUGE percentage difference on tyre cost to warrant it. But anything locally +1000 for a set, I don't think you can go wrong.
  23. Sweet. I'm hanging for it, just waiting for the wire transfer details then I'm going to hit it up. To me it was less about price and more about CHOICE! Seriously, I couldn't find performance tyres in 205/55R16 and 225/50R16, standard Porsche Fuchs sizes. I could grab a set of 50,000km redgums, but nothing soft. Trust me, rubbish tyres on the front of an old 911 are scary.
  24. Yep, a rear mount shrouded electric fan is the ideal setup. The longer and more conical the shroud, the more efficient it will be. But in reality, there's no point going crazy with shrouding etc. Interestingly my 10 inch front mounted fan moves a hell of a lot of air; When it's sitting for a while, if you put a hand on the back of the radiator it is amazing the temperature difference between the cooled portion and the hotspots in the corners. One day I'll buy an IR thermometer and measure the differences.
  25. I am looking at getting a set of tyres from Tirerack.com after seeing a post from irokin in another thread. Honestly I nearly fell off my chair when I discovered I can get set of Advan A08's landed in Aus for $843.00. The sizes I need for my 911SC aren't even available in the country in most tyres, the only performance tyre I could even find locally is RE002. Toyo's, kuhmo, advan, dunlop, nobody could get my sizes over here. So.... Who's bought from Tirerack.com before? Any issues with payment, shipping, customs, etc? Tell me your stories.
